  1. I was born in Janesville and lived there till age 12. By the 70s we had cable and Milwaukee stations, but my parents' news of choice was TV 6. So I grew up in a Carl Zimmermann household instead of John McCullough - but I still know what you guys are talking about. The everything's-a-sensation approach to broadcast news nowadays frankly turns me off. I cut way back on my TV news absorption after the terror attacks in 2001 and have scarcely looked back since. Like RockCo, one source of special dismay is Madison TV's "coverage" of the Brewers...but that's a tangent for another thread.
  2. Except there's no indication Doug is taking that approach with 3B. But I don't want to derail this further.
  3. All morning I've had this song in my head, only at a slower, slightly more dirge-like tempo.? "If a ball gets past me....just kidding, that doesn't happen!? Go-Gomez-Go!" ?? Thanks for playing hard, Carlos.? ?
  4. John: Please, don't let them back in tonight/this morning. Thanks!
  5. http://grilledcheesesandwich.org/wp-content/uploads/2009/07/grilledcheese.jpg (not that I hope it goes to cheese sandwich length)
  6. Let's put an end to the "morons" talk, and to this thread as well.
  7. I am in, using the good old fashioned "try every now and then" method. It's highly scientific, and unpredictable to boot.
  8. To be fair, if Robin19's instructions don't work for you, it could also be Yuku being Yuku.
  9. Hurray for the bf.netters who were at Chase Field tonight!
  10. As arguably the most serious Brewers fan in my workplace (and the magnet for Brewers questions from just about anyone with a Brewers question), I can fully attest to what monty has said above. Fully.
  11. I tried repeatedly to enter Monday night and couldn't. Tonight it is working for me. I fear it's all hit and miss. Possibly complicating matters for me is that I haven't been able to log out of Yuku for the last week.
  12. Agreed, but I'm with rawbecht. "Grienke" may be the most common misspelling from the 2011 roster around this forum, but I'd be surprised if "Betancourt" hasn't been butchered more times overall, since there are so many ways to butcher it. If you subscribe to the notion that a misspelling is more likely to occur when a speller is angry or frustrated, Yuni has very possibly provided more anger/frustration moments over the course of the season than has Zack.
  13. Absolutely - as long as it doesn't come down to the September 26-28 series. http://forum.brewerfan.net/images/smilies/ohwell.gif
  14. Serious question: Are you already giving up on not only this game, but on at least one more that hasn't even begun?
  15. What's bugging me at this hour is an 81 degree dew point.
  16. I've never gotten the 6:40 local start times for Arizona, and I'm pretty sure they've been doing that a while. Basically every other team starts at 7:05 or 7:10 local time on week nights. Anyone know the reasoning? I don't know the reasoning, but for what it's worth, the Brewers recently asked us to participate in an online survey for season ticket holders, and there were questions asking if we'd prefer a Friday start time of 7:40 and Sunday start time of 1:40. (We replied no to each.)
  17. Have a good series, AirShuttle, pitchleague, hammytime and whatever other Arizona bf-netters make the trip this week! Brewers, don't let them down.
  18. Of the 2011 Brewers who have crossed my path, I'd have to say Wil Nieves. Or does he not count because he's not on the 40 man roster? I'd add Daniel Ray Herrera, but I didn't actually see either of his outings. Yuni makes me sad, mainly when he's in the field, just because I have this irrational thing for competent defense. For some reason I'm not angry with him, though. Seeing him reminds me of how badly the Brewers need a different SS. It takes some doing to make me just plain turn on a Brewer, but once it happens there is rarely any going back for me. Wil Nieves, Jeff Suppan, Jose Capellan, and a host of 1990s and early 2000s closers who let me down once too often. (Or in the case of Mike DeJean, many times too often.) So it's uncommon for me to specifically not enjoy seeing a Brewer. I even sort of came around to Diego Edmonds, eventually.
  19. Obviously the Reds fans had it coming, and Albert has earned the right to taunt. Also, my signature applies once again.
  20. We were in and out of the house, so it's possible there was an in-game announcement from FSWI. After the game they seemed more interested in a Dells infomercial than in actual Brewers news.
  21. Gah, we watched this game at my mom's house and I was nervous. It seems like Tulo is extra motivated whenever he plays Milwaukee (and why not?). Then on the drive home we listened to about half of TMJ's "Brewers Extra Innings," and not once did Jeff Falconio mention Shaun Marcum's injury. He also didn't know things that we knew about the Brewers. Listening to that was nearly useless.
  22. Lucky, the Brewers are 1-6 on my birthday (9/19) since 2003.Happy birthday, ilovebeer. The Brewers are 0-0-1 lifetime on my (late February) birthday, but at least Corey hit a dinger in that 2009 spring training opener!
  23. Not to disrupt whatever mojo might be going on, but the chat room appears to be operational, at least for a few of us.
  24. Sigh. At least they've hit? Whoever's in the chat room, I'd join you if the software would let me.
