  1. Baby Hader is currently due in July.
  2. As it was an extra inning, Jeff Levering called the walkoff today, and did just fine.
  3. We attend 30-40 games per year from Madison, and I have a day job, so game times and duration do matter to my household. The 6:40 and 7:10 starts are both okay, and during most of the MLB season I have some leeway to come in late the next morning after weeknight games, in case of a long one. More than anything else, I'd like a bit more consistency in start times. Trying to keep track of which night games start when is a small hassle. (For season seat holders, keeping track of the gate opening times on early entry days is also a first world challenge.) I could live with 6:40 Monday-Thursday and 7:10 Friday, regardless of month. Saturday will always be less predictable due to TV issues, and Sunday is consistent except for the very occasional ESPN broadcast. Start times earlier than 6:40 wreak more havoc with my day job. I get why the 4/14 game started at 4:14, and I understand the weirdness of the 5:10 start vs SF last month due to rescheduling, but I'm glad those are rare exceptions. We almost never go to weekday games anymore because it takes up a whole day of leave for me.
  4. Haha, we used to refer to Bruce Ruffin as "Rough'em Up" Ruffin. ?
  5. I was 21 for this game too. As it was Easter Sunday, I was at my mom's house in Monroe and of course we had the radio on. After some jumping around and whooping, I thought to record Pat Hughes' 10th inning show on my brother's Realistic (TM) Radio Shack stereo. I still have the tape. One of Adam McCalvy's past interns wrote a longform story about Bob Uecker for Fox Sports in 2012. He asked on Twitter for fan perspectives and I am guessing I was the only fan to reply, so I'm quoted alongside Pat Hughes, Jim Powell and Cory Provus. It is no small badge of fan pride for me that you can google Bob Uecker and my name and get a legit result. The Link
  6. An older fan in the section next to us started off the game by responding to every instance of bat/ball conduct with “There it is.” Not much emotion, and he wasn’t wearing either red or blue, so I couldn’t tell who he was rooting for…until Rowdy batted. Then he got really animated and yelled at Miles Mikolas to STRIKE THIS GUY OUT, calling the first ball on him BS, etc. During a game that brought few highlights, I took no small pleasure at seeing Rowdy get under this guy’s skin.
  7. Sweet inning, Devin. How 'bout next time you avoid Loading the bases?
  8. Victor Santos was part of the 2004 and 2005 Brewers. So "nothing stellar" is just about right. ?
  9. Brewers in Birdland Remember Victor Santos? He was good at night.
  10. Possibly deserving of its own post: "It's Different Here"? That's only incrementally less bad than #ThatsCub or #CubTogether. ? (CubTogether always read to me like someone talking about a Beatles song with a terrible head cold)
  11. I know these first two games don't necessarily doom the Brewers (let's remember, the 2011 club started its record-win season 0-4). But this opponent magnifies every emotion.
  12. Haha, Glendon Rusch sure did do that. 14th inning in April 2003!
  13. The sponsorship of this pocket schedule is not lost on me. ?
  14. We saw the Gallardo walkoff double, the Suter and Woodruff dingers and the 15th inning Jordan Lyles Experience in person, and I would count them all among my favorites. Just to add something new to this thread, who remembers the day Tomo Ohka decided to switch to LHB against the Rockies and had a career high 4 RBI? We were at that game too: https://www.espn.com/mlb/game/_/gameId/260824108
  15. I just read a story in The Athletic about Albert Pujols' return to STL, and by the end of the article found myself in midseason form for being 100% sick of the cardinals.
  16. My recollection is that a software change (or maybe the change from bizarre Yuku to phpBB) resulted in a more clunky chat. I might still have a couple of epic chat logs from well back in the day that I copied and pasted into my email. I'd have to do some digging to see if they're still there. The chats were not retained on the site at any point.
  17. I was a transfer student myself*, so even many years later, I know the feeling of realizing the first school choice wasn't the right one. *Not with an athletic scholarship. Since I'm certain you all were wondering that. ?
  18. ????‍??‍⬛ There's a woman with my hair color! And nice touch to bring over the bf.net emojis. ??
  19. I was able to stream TMJ from Madison on Friday, before I remembered the login information for our mlb dot tv subscription (which is a heck of a SSH perk).
  20. I'd like to attend that doubleheader, but it's on the second day of UW-Madison classes, so that is a no go for me.
  21. 1.) Where are you from? South Central Wisconsin, specifically Madison for most of the last 37 years. 2.) Age Range: Top of Generation X. 3.) How long have you been frequenting Brewerfan.net? Since 2003. Got roped in as staff in 2005 or 2006. 4.) Highest level of baseball/softball played? I have no baseball/softball skills. None. 5.) Favorite Brewers Player, and favorite underappreciated Brewers player, and if you want, favorite current Brewers player? This is like asking a parent to choose their favorite child. I've had many favorites since I began following the Brewers in 1982. I will say that my first Brewers fan crush was on Gorman Thomas. 6.) Favorite Twitter follows? Many baseball people and fans (including some of you), Wisconsin media, library Twitter because I'm a librarian. 7.) Other interests outside of baseball: Libraries and museums, University of Wisconsin volleyball (Edited to add: REIGNING NATIONAL CHAMPIONS), Wisconsin history, cats. 8.) Favorite part of Brewerfan.net: Realizing there are many other fans who are as into the Brewers as I am. It's also nice that y'all don't make me feel weird for being "the girl" on the forum. ?
  22. I've got my blue kool-aid back. Got that going for me, which is nice.
