  1. Even if this clip doesn't specifically answer CWH's question, it seems relevant: https://www.suggest.com/jake-from-state-farm-actor-re-cast/576/
  2. Not always ... Kool-Aid Man is not just a guy, though. He's an icon. (Maybe it was worth keeping this thread open after all )
  3. I'm disappointed that Devin has taken himself out of the postseason equation (even if unwittingly) with bonus disappointment for how it came about; but I'd also be disappointed in Stearns and company if they made roster moves based on knee-jerk reactions like those displayed in parts of this thread.
  4. For some reason I continued to listen to Lane Grindle's postgame show, during which I could hear Highway to Hell playing at Busch Stadium. Little on-the-nose there.
  5. Keep in mind, too, that the RF field bleachers has been turned into extra press box space for past postseasons. If seats there are even available for the NLDS, they wouldn't be for series beyond that.
  6. If the Brewers could not go six games between magic number changes again, that'd be nice. REAL nice.
  7. In Janesville, everything in Wisconsin is "north," except what's south of Hwy 11. I'm also from Janesville, and except for a couple of years in Green Bay in the 1990s, the farthest north I've lived has been Madison. I'd draw my up-north line between roughly Eau Claire and Green Bay. Not quite 29, not quite 10, but north of the population centers. Some of my Janesville relatives used to have a cabin on the Mecan River near Wautoma. They called that "up north" but I didn't. Another Janesville uncle had a cabin in Manitowish Waters, and eventually retired there. That's DEFINITELY up north.
  8. It's hard when STL is involved, but I think we just have to be patient.
  9. I could see 8 not being formally retired, but also not being reassigned - not unlike Jim Gantner. (Obviously for different reasons)
  10. The Reds' elimination number is 4 tonight. Cardinals are still at 5 while their Tuesday night game continues.
  11. I look forward to the day when we can look back on the Sal Romano experiment and laugh. Today is not that day (and I realize he was far from the only problem in this game), but the day will come at some point. That is the only observation I want to make at this time.
  12. I'm glad the trip went well (and that the Renaissance is still nice). Reading your recap reminded me that we also took a duck tour (like the Dells ducks) through downtown Pittsburgh. However, a little Googling shows me that the tour closed down in 2019 and auctioned off its duck boats. Bummer.
  13. Yeah, the JS link is "subscribers only" so only subscribers will be able to follow it. My goodness, Alando. I knew it was possible, wasn't hoping it was true, but dang, dude. You just trashed your coaching career.
  14. I emailed the Brewers last week, asking (politely) whether we should continue to expect such varying approaches from security staff. They haven't replied.
  15. I hope it worked out for you. Our experiences with ballpark security at the gates has been really inconsistent this season. For bobble days, we have been balling up a plastic grocery bag in a pocket and then opening it up once inside to carry the merchandise.
  16. Frank Bonner - perhaps best known as sales dude Herb Tarlek on WKRP in Cincinnati - has died: https://nypost.com/2021/06/17/frank-bonner-star-of-wkrp-in-cincinnati-dead-at-79/?utm_campaign=SocialFlow&utm_source=P6Twitter&utm_medium=SocialFlow He's the second core cast member lost from that show after the Big Guy, Mr. Carlson (Gordon Jump).
  17. The Renaissance is a nice place. Well, it was in 2002 when we were last in Pittsburgh. From some rooms you can see into the ballpark.
  18. He drives around, all over the town. Fun fact if you're me: One Toonces skit showed his driver's license and he and I share a birthday. I actually don't mind this compared to some of the real-life celebrities who are my birthday buddies.
  19. I haven't tried yet, but were the games you tried to post for 100% capacity or less? Maybe it would only work for the 6/25 and beyond games.
  20. The pre-packaged food and lack of vendors in the seating bowl are pandemic-related changes. I thought I read somewhere that vendors would be back once full capacity is allowed, but I don't remember where, so don't quote me on that. Having said that...it's understandable, but still a drag that the menu options throughout the park are reduced and prices are up. $6.75 for a hot dog? I think we'll more often eat before we arrive, and save the concessions spending for special occasions.
  21. I can't find proof of it at the moment, but I believe I read he had his tendon surgery in Green Bay.
  22. Congratulations! Now cook Johnsonville brats out on the pier and you'll have reached peak Wisconsinite.
  23. To date (well, through 2019) I tried to note on the back of the ticket stub what was distinctive about the game. Sometimes there was nothing distinctive to report besides the score/winner-loser-save, etc. We were at the Suter HR game and that definitely made the cut.
  24. I saw that's now an option in the Ballpark app. I'm...intrigued. My attended games go back to 1983 and I think I'd enjoy seeing the stats (compiled automatically and not by my hand).
