  1. September 1 dustup with Marlins August 31 collision vs. Marlins August 28 vs. Cardinals August 21 incident in Philly He is appealing the 7-game suspension he got for the incident in Philly. Good luck with that.
  2. I wonder how many MLB players nowadays mow their own lawns.
  3. And sometimes beyond expiration. We can scarcely overlook the selection and prices for less perishable items, but we don't touch produce there and always check for expiration dates before selecting the "dated" items we do buy there. Also bugging me: my returning students don't yet seem overly willing to help train my new employees. I typically offer additional hours the first two weeks of class to returnees so I don't spend 13 hours a day at the library, incurring unpaid overtime and overworking my voice in the process. I kind of want to shout at these people that I can't work every night, but I don't have enough voice to shout right now. The problem should be resolved in about two weeks, but that doesn't help me tonight.
  4. I thought Jonathan Lucroy was Ryan Braun once, based on the low/no-definition picture quality. Also, the numbers on the Brewers' uniforms look like they're edged in neon light. My goodness. Or, WMLW's badness. And good god, Todd Coffey.
  5. Trust me: to those of us with no encounters with Brewers, yours are also great. That Gorman story is hilarious.
  6. With an assist to Gomes. http://forum.brewerfan.net/images/smilies/wink.gif I'll take what I can get.
  7. Long day. I didn't get home from work until 6:30, and haven't eaten yet, so I'll be idle in the chat for a bit yet. Edit: It'd be nice if the Brewers could score here, wouldn't it?
  8. I was at that game! I brought a group of my student employees and we sat in the Beerpen (which on Thursday nights is not the beerpen). Lil' Wes Obermueller started for the Fish and Claudio Vargas for the Brewers. The Brewers won a close game, and I remember J.J. and Corey both being involved. Edit: I suppose I could just check retrosheet.org to find out for sure. Yep, J.J. drove in Corey with the eventual winning run in the 8th.
  9. Under 15000 for tonight's paid attendance. That's just sad.
  10. I like the one for the 'Stros. And at the risk of exposing my naivete, I didn't get the STL logo.
  11. I can't root against the Brewers, but that'll be my silver lining for sure if they don't win. Chatters, I got home about 10 minutes ago and I have to eat something. I'll get to the room when I can...but you know you can start without me.
  12. I still think those abs look Photoshopped. Besides, that's also from the Pirates grand slam, not the "big moment" of the 2000s on 9/28.
  13. Oh, and they've added Chris Dickerson's song too. I'd been wondering about that. I also can't help but notice that one of Gomez's songs is "I'm So Special." I know you need confidence to succeed in this line of work, but I'm still snickering at that selection.
  14. I saw that toss and knew it was right by your seats. Good for you! Today's game wasn't the hottest we've ever sat through, but it might have been the hottest we sat through in 2010. Bleah. Our section was extra restless, with fans of all ages up and down almost constantly - even more so than the usual for the family section. However, a relatively easy win (though nothing is truly easy during this season of the facepalm) made the sultry conditions easier to take. Did anyone else see Evan Meek go down and wonder how many beanballs this buys the Brewers in 2011? Before Pirates nation piles on Ryan and the Brewers even more, I hope they keep in mind the nice ovation Meek got from Brewers fans as he left the field. Fortunately, X-rays were negative and Meek appears to be day-to-day. I'd practically forgotten what "Trevor Time" was like. The last time he entered in a save situation when we were in attendance was April 27, before Devil Eye Doumit messed things up. It was nice to see again, though I would have had to take a concourse walk had he faced Doumit in that inning. JV/Sunday lineup vs. the Pirates seemed to work well enough. I'm satisfied for today.
  15. In recent years, yes; but a night game would eliminate shadows from the sun coming into the first-base-line windows. Plus the Brewers seem to like creating late nights for the hawing household, so what's one more in 2011?
  16. Livin' la vida Lo-Ca! http://forum.brewerfan.net/images/smilies/smile.gif I'd like to think that with every hit that Lo gets, the chances of our seeing Gogo diminish. Here's hoping tomorrow's Brewers starter can last a while.
  17. Uecker just said that Prince is "overdue" for a three-HR game. I like the way he thinks.
  18. I imagine this or a similar thought went through Manny's head as he watched Cappy's outing evolve.
  19. Hey, Corey, that'll show you to hit walkoff dingers vs. the Pirates!
  20. Well, he preserved the 0-0 tie through the first batter. http://forum.brewerfan.net/images/smilies/eyes.gif Though Manny might have given up multiple dingers by now. Still plenty of game to go, hawing said hopefully.
  21. I enjoy this thread topic whenever it arises, but the stories do make me a little envious. When are these guys going to start hanging out in Madison?
  22. Perhaps Jocketty just likes having ex-Cardinals around, much as Doug favors ex-Rangers.
  23. Wikipedia overview. I admit, the first thing I think of is "oh yeah, that helicopter crash," but that's because it happened in Wisconsin. But I was generally aware of his skill with the guitar as well. And, like RockCC, I am feeling a little older upon realizing that crash was now 20 years ago.
  24. In the chat we just coined the phrase "pinch hacker" for Gogo's appearance there.
