  1. Yet. Catalogers began just this year to enter information about the Canadian government publications into the UW-Madison online catalog. Once items can be located via catalog, they get requested - if not by a local patron, by researchers elsewhere. So, you're in one of the classes that toured the WHS today. I don't give the tours but I received a copy of the tour outline and that factoid was part of it.
  2. I just got home from work, despite having been there since 7:30 AM. http://forum.brewerfan.net/images/smilies/frown.gif If anyone's around to chat, feel free to start without me, and I'll join in after I've had something to eat. Go Brewers!
  3. The icons did not work for me last night (Sunday), but were back today. Edit: except some avatars are not displaying for me, which I guess is consistent with an image server being down.
  4. I was definitely happy to see a win today. The S.O. and I half-expected lots of no-shows due to the NFL, but the crowd didn't seem to reflect that. As on Friday, the front half of our loge section was (too) well represented by visitor fans - maybe they heard the phrase "diamond box" and thought that would be cool - but thankfully our half was rooting for the home team, and the attitude that visiting cub fans have displayed in recent years was much diminished, at least in the infield loge seats. I didn't realize until I reviewed my photos from the Friday and Sunday games that the rookie pitchers (or, as Cory Provus likes to say, the "new chuckers") were dutifully sporting their girly backpacks: Friday http://sphotos.ak.fbcdn.net/hphotos-ak-ash2/hs314.ash2/59443_1579457892073_1404434242_1509261_1011019_n.jpg Sunday http://sphotos.ak.fbcdn.net/hphotos-ak-snc4/hs640.snc4/60034_1579523573715_1404434242_1509520_1300227_n.jpg Edit: I forgot to mention that I totally smack talked Casey into hitting that solo shot in the 8th today. I reminded him how the Cubs had kicked him to the curb after the 2008 season, and wouldn't he like to remind them of what they missed out on? Apparently he did. http://forum.brewerfan.net/images/smilies/smile.gif
  5. I knew you guys weren't making this up, but I had to see it for myself anyway: Link to product page I like Trevor and am delighted by his accomplishment, but I don't feel motivated to get any of the commemorative merchandise so far (t-shirt or certainly this bat). And my lack of motivation is not Doug Melvinesque doublespeak that means I'm actually about to order either item. Maybe a pin or something.
  6. Amen to that. I suppose they couldn't be troubled to show some life in the 9th. http://forum.brewerfan.net/images/smilies/frown.gif
  7. Well, the announced attendance Friday night was just under 31,000, and in no way did everyone with a ticket show up - so you may well prove to be right.
  8. Don't know. The caption said he was in the parking lot outside a Jimmy Buffett concert. Edit: Hah, no perfecto for you, Ryan Dempster! Uecker reports a full house tonight, including lots of cubs fans - so between that and Mr. Glove Flip I'm glad this is the game we're not attending from this series.
  9. The weather this evening is pretty nearly perfect to enjoy Saturday's game on our front porch. I'm sharing the couch out here with two cats, a laptop, and Gameday. If only the whole summer had been this nice.
  10. Either those early efforts with Lucroy soured Randy on the whole idea, or it just became a handy way to get Kottaras semi-regular playing time. I see they've returned to the stars & stripes caps again. I thought maybe there would be another 9:11 moment of silence, but the game of course could be over by 9:11 PM CDT. Sure, *now* they can turn a double play successfully. I guess better late than never.

  12. trwi7 and homer are correct. I got a photo of Rogers' 96 MPH pitch speed displayed on the scoreboard; I missed photographing the 98 but that was what the scoreboard said. We have tickets to three of the Marlins' games, and I'd be delighted to see Mark start. (Full disclosure, I'm beyond ready to see anyone not named Dave Bush start for the Brewers.) So Ken, I know you'd never spend time at such a silly site, but if you could not pick Friday 9/24 for the Rogers start, that'd be much appreciated.
  13. Happy (now belated) birthday, stalton. I hope the Brewer game didn't get you down too much.
  14. Sitting at the park (while planning my very special shoutout to all the season ticket holders in 217 who sold out to cub fans tonight), I wondered very much the same thing. I think four of our last five attended games have now been Dave Bush starts and I am ready for someone else. Like Mark Rogers. I don't know if they mentioned it on the broadcasts, but I saw 98 MPH and 96 MPH on the Miller Park scoreboard. Sweet. I'm not sure why there was a scoreboard announcement that tonight was Rogers' MLB debut, when it should have been Brandon Kintzler's too (with no message for him). Also, I couldn't help but cringe at seeing #37 on Mark's jersey. I'd like to think he chose that number to help rid us of the bad memories. Considering the abundance of cub fans (pretty close to 50-50 in the infield loge), the crowd on both sides was rather apathetic tonight - which given the matchup and the results was fine with me. Edit: I've got three, count em, three Generac generator coupons ready to sell on the bf.net black market. Let the frantic bidding begin!
  15. Speaking as a ticket holder for Friday's game, I would not object to seeing Mark then, and not only because three of our last four attended games have been Dave Bush starts of varying quality.
  16. Nice rebound by the Brewers after giving up the Jesus blast in the first. Tip of the cap.
  17. Sure, Tony, use three guys in the 7th inning. Your choice. Welcome, Jeff.
  18. Soup appearing in what might still turn out to be "garbage time," against the Brewers? Niiiiice...if it happens.
  19. I don't know if an absence of profanity means that no lines were crossed (and we don't know exactly what the fan said), but I won't lie: my absolute first thought upon learning that the ejected fan had been heckling Yadi was something like, "how thick is his skin?" I also admit to wondering if Molina's absence from the lineup tonight has anything to do with last night's action.
  20. I made almost that exact observation to the S.O. last night - that we can count on 24/7 Rivera coverage should he come within (let's say) 10 saves of 600. I had to buy a Journal Sentinel (the last copy available at the Union today) just to get a piece of newsprint worth saving for the story, as the Wisconsin State Journal paid barely any attention to it.
  21. To my ear, Rock doesn't sound like himself tonight - like maybe he has a head cold, or between his birthday and the 'doings' last night, he did some celebrating.
  22. I'm afraid I can't contribute to Hammer715's question, but I would love to listen to just ambient crowd noise while watching a Brewer game on FSWisconsin.
  23. I just scanned Gameday quickly, but it looks like most if not all 7 did in fact come with 2 outs. It's two-out magic night! http://forum.brewerfan.net/images/smilies/smile.gif Am I a bad fan if I don't love the design of the "600" t-shirt? I don't hate the idea of a commemorative shirt, but I don't think I want to wear what they've designed.
  24. I'm leaning toward "no" too, even though it could increase the value of Brian Shouse t-shirts. http://forum.brewerfan.net/images/smilies/smile.gif I'm not sure Rollie spending only 4+ seasons of his lengthy career in Milwaukee is itself any more honor-worthy, but he did score those big awards in 1981. Though I'm delighted with Trevor's achievement and am happy he reached 600 here, it feels more like Milwaukee happened to be where he was when the milestone happened. It just doesn't feel the same to me. Having said this, I agree with And That that a "600" ball up by Uecker's, or a 600 sign somewhere, sounds like a doable compromise.
