  1. Link to press release You can spend the night of Saturday, September 12 at Miller Park, playing catch, taking a tour, watching the Brewers/D-backs game and a movie, have a chance for prizes, and much much more...for $85 per head, $50 per kid. Sounds interesting. Also sounds like a steep price - though I suppose a lot of hotel rooms in Milwaukee cost more. Watching a road game in September also would work better if the Brewers are closer to being in the race four weeks from now.
  2. That win expectancy chart might become one of the "happy places" I go to in my mind when the Brewers are scuffling. Ahhhhh. Nice. REAL nice!
  3. Ouch, says Braden.
  4. Aw, man, the Brewers are beating us at our own dorky activity. (I'm not saying I don't fully embrace my dorkiness)
  5. The chat room is open and ready for your most impromptu comments.
  6. I look at this half inning and it makes me think of the (paraphrased) quote "We're mad as hell, and we're not going to take it anymore." Edit: Note that J.J. is not here to make multiple outs in the big inning.
  7. Wandy vs. Yovani on a retro Friday. This Friday game is not in the Sunday Plus 20-pack, which might increase the chances of Brewers' success. Also, welcome to Jason Bourgeois! Run support + decent pitching = better results. Think about it, Brewers. JSOnline lineups: BREWERS 2B Felipe Lopez CF Mike Cameron LF Ryan Braun 1B Prince Fielder 3B Casey McGehee C Mike Rivera RF Jason Bourgeois RHP Yovani Gallardo SS Alcides Escobar ASTROS CF Michael Bourn SS Miguel Tejada 1B Lance Berkman LF Carlos Lee 3B Geoff Blum RF Hunter Pence 2B Kasuo Matsui C Humberto Quintero LHP Wandy Rodriguez (Edit - I really do know the date - hawing)
  8. So it's kind of like the Brewers' making a bobble of The Maniac. No offense to The Maniac, but that doesn't sound compelling.
  9. I'm totally on board with Tony La Russa. Homer, I thought for sure you'd list FTJ. http://forum.brewerfan.net/images/smilies/wink.gif
  10. Casey used "Under the Influence" early in the season, but has been using something else for a while now. I don't know what it is. "Under the Influence" was played before one of Alcides' at-bats today, but I didn't get the feeling it was his new walkup music. The Brewers also changed up the pre-top of the first and pre-bottom of the first music. I'm guessing they also tweaked the video montages to remove footage of J.J. and Bill.
  11. By the third inning today, I realized that for once the Brewers were actually pounding a brand new MLB starter. That was novel, and nice. I didn't get to pay my usual intense level of attention to this game because we had a group of the S.O.'s relatives with us. Fortunately, the home runs (hit by the home team) helped keep the youngsters in our group interested. I was also enjoying watching my nephew live the kid high life with bensheeps' family in the AirTran seats. I did notice two things that (for me) really drove home the departure of J.J.: 1. His name was removed from the powerball list of top home run hitters. 2. They replaced the "have your photo taken with a life-sized cutout of J.J. Hardy" promotion with "have your photo taken in front of a Miller Park backdrop." I know the roster move is still fresh, but there aren't enough photoshop skills in the organization to put another player in J.J.'s place in the U.S. Cellular concourse spot? Flat out sad. Also (not related to J.J.), anyone remember the old Fernando Vina commercial where he says to "keep your mind on the drive"? For some reason it came to mind after the Lopez error. Come on, Felipe.
  12. Walking through the concourse today, I saw him in the booth on the TVs and noticed he was fondling his Blackberry. I'd be content with a pushbutton bobblehead that says "and that."
  13. Just in the last month, we saw the exhibit on him at the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame. He had quite a career. RIP indeed.
  14. Bill Hall's erstwhile success led to my best bobblehead acquisition of all time. I'll thank him for that and wish him well going forward.
  15. Clearly, the Brewers are pursuing this to win me back...only thing is, I haven't left.

  21. So they could be operating with 23 guys? Ay yi yi, let's hope against an extra innings affair.
  22. In junior high and high school (my education was all pre-middle school), I didn't have much of a social life outside of school, so by the end of summer I was more or less ready to get back into the saddle. My work nowadays is still heavily affected by the academic year. In recent Augusts I've just felt tired when I think of the upcoming school year, since it brings so much more work at the library. However, when I interview or otherwise meet a first year student who's all enthusiastic about college, it kind of restores my spirit. (Hasn't happened yet this August, but most of the kids aren't back in town yet.)
  23. I was attempting to multi-task while listening, but that also stuck out for me and I wonder what the context was.
  24. Ah, bensheeps, I was thinking of you this morning when I finally stumbled across the news. Presser underway now...
