  1. One order of two-out magic, please, Rickie.
  2. I suppose a popup would be less devastating than a double play. If you're going to tease me, Brewers, just go all the way.
  3. More like up to HH, now. And Corey did his bit.
  4. Anyone want to remind Prince this may be the best chance of the night to make a difference?
  5. Ok, how about Prince? I've got my rally cap on, even.
  6. Holy baserunners, Ryan! Make something good happen.
  7. Seems to me that digging it up and threatening a lawsuit just shows that the Yankees let the whole issue get into their heads. Hah! Boston wins already.
  8. With thirteen games played, we're more than halfway through the Cameron suspension.
  9. No offense, Tracy, but you don't fully appreciate the term "geography dork" until you've seen the national geographers' conference (which is in Boston this week and which my S.O. is attending - thus I'm along for the ride). There are 7000+ geography dorks in downtown Boston this week. Not that a conference of librarians would be any less uncool. And I think being able to say you've been in all 72 counties is neat.
  10. You never know, Stevo; Crazy Joe could feed off the implicit trust Ned is demonstrating in him by assigning him the 3-hole, and have a monster career night. Imagine the "Can Crazy Joe Dillon Pitch?" thread that would no doubt ensue.
  11. Robb Edwards only said "Kaplan" in the opening day player introductions - though he said it twice there. Number 33, outfielder Gabe Kaplan! Number 33, Kaplan! I can't believe I forgot Bill Hill (which I now think of every time #2 does something), and Richie Months (which I think was Robin19's contribution to that Bill Hill thread). After Corey Hart declared in his recent chat that he is half mountain man, I may have to adapt that somehow.
  12. I am in Boston for a few days. The late local news has just ended and a station is now playing "Cheers" reruns. I wonder if it's a law that someone has to air Cheers reruns in Boston? Oh, and that jersey-in-Yankee-Stadium issue? They're talking about it a lot on the radio here, and not just on sports-talk stations.
  13. Like ewizabeff, I generally proceed with caution. Enough people don't want to be "shown up" by a woman.
  14. I think splitterpfj coined "Gabe the Babe" for Mr. Kapler the other day. I'm sticking to that (though I will continue to pause at every game I attend, in case Robb Edwards calls him Kaplan again like he did on opening day).
  15. So he's channeling Robin Yount. What a world we live in.

  17. This may not help you, menotti, but the West Towne Penney's in Madison was as recently as this last month still selling Jenkins t-shirts, though at no deeper discount than their Sheets, Hardy and Fielder shirts. I was a little embarrassed to see the display - I'd hoped against hope they'd have something new for 2008.
  18. That's interesting. As a partial season ticket holder we dutifully ranked our preferences last fall for meeting our choice of the "four young exciting players" at an exclusive event this spring. Last month I asked our rep when the date would be selected (thinking that if it were a weekday for some reason that I'd better make sure I could take the day off work). His guess, at the time, was that the event would be held on one of the Brewers' off days in April that was contiguous to a homestand - hence, either April 7 or April 28. Then a couple of weeks passed before we got the postcard saying to save the date for April 26. The details of this event are due to be mailed this coming week. I will be a little disappointed if they replace the originally stated players (Corey, CV, Yovani and Rickie). As for RBM's lead post, I think extrapolating this into an "early" departure for Prince might be going a little far. But had I received your mailing, I'd also wonder what's "last minute" about 15 days out. Maybe time moves differently for superstar baseball players? We'll be out of town when our "details" are mailed, but perhaps another recipient can post them on the forum.
  19. That's right, hawing's posting in the vent thread...to compliment Backupcatchers on that very entertaining venty post. Tip of the cap.
  20. If my grandmother were still alive, she would have turned 99 today. Since she died in 1982, I'm sure she would never have dreamed of an internet, much less a message board and my tiny online tribute to her today.
  21. Gagne is using Welcome to the Jungle. I enjoyed Go Getta last year, but I was just getting into Ryan's new song. Change it back! I also really liked the song Prince used last weekend.
  22. Disney magic trumps all facets of astronomy, and probably all facets of the natural universe. My little confession: I've never been very interested in Disney. Even as a kid, I never wanted to go to Disney World or Disneyland. As a teenager, I dated a guy whose family went to Disney World; he sent me a postcard from the park every day they were there, declaring that he was going to take me to Epcot some day (Epcot was new then). I remember thinking, "do I have to?" Just another thing that makes me a little less typically American.
  23. Get back on the bike, you guys. Hey, Nelson Figueroa.
  24. Doug's surgery is today. Fingers crossed for the Sharpie.
  25. I'll play along: This is the guy I take deep. Yes, the first-ever bf.net poster appearance in a Brewer game, and it's a girl. Hah!
