  1. It's probably like that tree that falls in the forest with no one around to hear it. It still falls. http://forum.brewerfan.net/images/smilies/smile.gif
  2. Not to be the downer, but if none of the Brewers see this thread, how do they get the intended kick-in-the-rear effect? Sorry, carry on.
  3. I don't mind Poblocki, but we don't drive by it nearly as often as you Milwaukeeland residents. I dislike big-buildup ad campaigns like this Key thing described above. I try extra hard to ignore them.
  4. Not much reason to post here lately. But at least the Brewers put together 10 non-swept series before their first swept series of the year.
  5. And we need you now tonight! And we need you more then ever! I never really liked that song, but amen to that. Come on, guys. Stop the madness! Start the movie!
  6. I agree with Dustin. I hope this is just the "reeling" stage from the bad Yo news. One would think they'd snap out of it eventually - preferably soon.
  7. As for two "starters" per game, I wondered about that out loud in the chat Friday night. Get to a point where all you have are guys who can go 4-5 innings and double them up.
  8. This makes me think of Bring Back the Stein's "Stations of the Brewers Cross" analogy after the blowout loss on Wednesday. I am still trying to process what made it cosmically necessary for Brewers fans to have two "stations" in 24 hours.
  9. Dear Doug: Don't you even think about it. Most sincerely, hawing
  10. If I recall correctly from our Coors Field stadium tour a few years ago, the Rockies use purple to pay homage to "purple mountain majesties." So I would be surprised if they switch from that anytime soon.
  11. Let's hope today is the low point of the season. SeriesFinale has it right: shake it off because you get another chance tomorrow.
  12. Well, maybe the "season over" crowd is staying away. So this was my first time seeing 'Rillo and Telly on a road Brewers Live. Never saw Telly before; and I honestly wouldn't have guessed that 'Rillo had that much hair. Also, I love how Trenni at the end of one of her pieces said something like "back to you, Telly and 'Rillo." Yeah.
  13. True dat. However, should a scenario like this come to pass, the cubs would presumably have to find a way to accommodate their season ticket holders. I doubt there would be a general public free-for-all for tickets - not if more than a series' worth of games is involved. Let's do it...for Fukudome, Soto and Marmol. http://forum.brewerfan.net/images/smilies/smile.gif
  14. Man. After reading the more optimistic sounding jsonline blog entry Thursday night, I was telling someone that I'd feel a lot better if there were no pain or swelling by the same time Friday night. Given the tumble Yo took, I'd guess the bulk of the damage was done then, and any additional damage caused by his stay in the game was relatively incidental. Disclaimer, though, I have no medical background. At least we know right away - none of the 'day to day' followed by 'miss one start just as a precaution' followed by 'DL stint retroactive to a while ago' crap that frustrates so many fans. Ben's in a contract year; maybe he'll step up like a guy in a contract year. Talk about a character builder for this team, though.
  15. Maybe it's only the lower profile ex-Brewers who are destined to bite the Brewers in the rear - like the Wes Helmses and Victor Santoses of the world.
  16. Dane County 911 services are provided by Dane County employees, not Madison Police Department employees. Just saying.
  17. In play, run(s)! I'm with Stevo, that's the phrase of the day. The cub nation must absolutely detest Ryan Braun. Yet right this minute, I don't care one bit. http://forum.brewerfan.net/images/smilies/smile.gif Take care of yourself, Yo, and thanks.
  18. FSN appears to be replaying this game in its entirety tonight. Whether that is a good thing or a bad thing remains to be seen.
  19. I just peeked at Gameday and saw the home run for Satan. The worst kind of run to give up in a Hothead start! (In my office we've decided that all that gameday picture of Hothead needs is little horns.)
  20. One of my amusing/bemusing memories of the one game I've attended at the Metrodome was the "Healthy Alternatives" concession stand...which never opened when we were there. Also, there was a sign honoring "Kirby Pucket" - spelled like that. Ouch.
  21. What a fine post. I especially like the Stations of the Cross metaphor. Last night, however, I could not match Bring Back the Stein's staying power. Like Robin19, I turned off the TV after the first 3-run Soto homer (how's that for a disheartening phrase?), and although I joined the chat room later, I went to bed before the last batch of cub runs. In my defense, I have a cold.
  22. While on vacation last month, we used a couple of baseball books to pass time during travel delays: In The Ballpark: the working lives of baseball people Working at the Ballpark: the fascinating lives of baseball people... They're both interesting collections of interviews with people involved in all facets of the game, from the front office to the field to the broadcast booth, and beyond. They were both fun to browse on our trip. The latter title includes interviews with a Miller Park beer vendor, the man inside the Bernie Brewer costume, and Derrick Turnbow. The former title includes an interview with Dean Taylor (as a Braves employee).
  23. Usually when relievers fail, I turn on them and my "closer rage" kicks in. I've mentioned this over time on this message board, and the list is long and goes a ways back: Doug Henry, Mike Fetters, Mike DeJean, Jose Capellan (just to name a few). Somehow, I've never felt the rage with Derrick. I don't know why. By now it's just sadness. I've wanted him to succeed and (last Wednesday notwithstanding), it just isn't happening now. So even I think it's time for a change of scenery. Whether he's just plain broken or only broken as a Brewer, I think a split would benefit both sides. If today is the day, I'll choose to remember his good outings. his beautiful bobblehead and his erstwhile rockstar status. Maybe especially, I'll feel fortunate that I got to see his last effective outing on the 23rd. That was a good MP moment.
  24. I think it's gonna be all right Yeah, the worst is over now The morning sun is shining like a red rubber ball.
  25. I can imagine worse. It could have been the hothead pitching for the Cubs, prancing around after every out with many an arm pump.
