  1. This was in the back of my head too - though it doesn't jibe with his pitching at all vs. the Reds on Friday, if he was already sore then.
  2. I agree with strawboss. Carlos' third inning tonight made me worry about an early exit and Johnny Wholestaff night, but he held it together enough to put together the so-called quality start.
  3. OK, it sounds like we can use our customary exit for the time being. Usually by about exit 297 we've had enough highway driving, hence our preference for that route. Thanks to all who posted here. (And Patrick425, we often go to Gilles for custard, and after years of doing so finally saw Bud there last fall. But sometimes the flavor of the day at Oscar's or Kopps looks more appealing, so we go there instead. We check their websites in advance. I'm not dorky only for baseball!)
  4. I thought it was pretty cool to walk around and see who everyone was. I suppose you don't remember what number was on my shirt. http://forum.brewerfan.net/images/smilies/wink.gif I'm just curious.
  5. The link posted by bork is one I found a couple of weeks ago (after we got home from our last game). Based on our experience with online listings for city of Madison road projects, I know they're not necessarily updated frequently or in a timely manner. So "spring 2008" could mean as soon as tomorrow or as late as mid-June. That's why I was hoping for some input from locals who have been in the area more recently than we have. Anyway, thanks for the responses thus far.
  6. Brennaman was a guest on the first or second Talkin' Brewers this off-season, and he issued a summary of the Cubs that was much like his comments from the last few days. Ultimately, he wasn't worried about the Cubs because they are "the Cubs" and as such, they will not win, etc. I don't remember if I posted, or merely considered posting, almost the same exact question posed by the Cincy fan in dlk9s' post above ("I just wish Marty would tell us how he really feels about the Cubs").
  7. A question for Waukesha County posters: When we drove home from our last Brewers game on the 6th, it looked like the Blue Mound Road area nearest the interstate (like around Barker Rd) was about to become a construction zone. When coming from the west, we prefer to get off the highway at the Blue Mound exit (297 I think), which gives us lots of choices for pre-game dinner and/or custard stops. Is the road work underway yet? If so, how much of Blue Mound is disrupted? and if not, do you know when the work is scheduled to begin? We have tickets to Monday's game (W and F too) and would like to figure out before Monday afternoon whether (or how much) we have to adjust our commute. Thanks in advance.
  8. We just got back from being out of state for six days, and I expect our cats to be practically Velcroed to me tonight. (I missed them, which is why this is in the "what's NOT bugging you" thread.)
  9. Not to rub anything in, but woot woot, I'm in the Corey Hart line. http://forum.brewerfan.net/images/smilies/smile.gif I'd think a lot of season ticket holders would have been paid up well in advance, what with the carryover of playoff $. In our case that more than paid for the 2008 renewal of our terrace package. We've been season ticket customers about as long as Patrick425 (except we skipped the 1995 season due to irritation over the strike - so the Brewers count us as starting in 1996, even though we also bought for 1993 and '94). We did purchase an additional 20 pack this year, and I'm starting to wonder if our increased commitment has raised our value with the Brewers. Overall, I'd guess that our dollar commitment is still on the low end (among all season ticket customers), even though it's a fairly substantial increase for us. Anyway, I'll take suggestions for what to say to Corey. (Reasonable suggestions.)
  10. Like And That, I've generally preferred CC to BB (sorry jason21nl). Best Buys make me feel overwhelmed and nervous when I visit them, so I don't much. But when CC pulled the mass layoff shenanigans in '07 (or was it '06?), that turned me off. Still, Sam, if you're struggling to find a use for your remaining $, I'll take it off your hands. http://forum.brewerfan.net/images/smilies/wink.gif
  11. A Take Back Miller Park t-shirt, so we could wear matching shirts to a game some day. Happy birthday!
  12. That was my first thought too (great minds), but yeah, this appears to replace the Ashley Furniture section. $1800 (at least), that's out of my personal price range!
  13. Too bad I wasn't sleeping the other way on the couch I could have seen all my bobbleheads shake. I hate the thought of earthquakes (and we were out of state, so we missed the Friday action)...but zachlaka, that is a very entertaining statement.
  14. As an erstwhile Glendon Rusch fan, I can only say...boy, it sucks to be Glendon today.
  15. Just to provide a glimpse of the other side of the coin, that extra-inning win at Wrigley last April (it was Team Canada's birthday) included a stint by Villanueva which began with I think a walk, then Ned came out to give CF a talkin-to, then Carlos was terrific for a few innings. So if you want to call that an 'undressing', I'd say that one achieved a desired result.
  16. Dear ESPN: Vegetarianism and veganism are not the same thing! Thanks for noting this, hawing
  17. The home runs hit on Easter Sunday 1987 (April 19, I believe) did not factor into a division title, but did clinch the 12th consecutive victory for the Brewers ("in dramatic fashion," as Pat Hughes said in his 10th Inning Show that day), and gave George Webb's a chance to finally, finally, provide the free burgers the chain had promised since the Braves were in town and George Webb was alive. If today's win proves to vault the Brewers on a five-month-plus white-hot tear that ends in at least a playoff berth, I'll happily return to this thread and discuss whether Prince's shot today is the most important April home run in Brewers history. Until then, I'll take the Easter Sunday 1987 side. I know that its significance is lost on posters who are not old enough to remember that day (or were around for it at all), but I think some fans would argue it was bigger than Juan Nieves' no-hitter a few days before.
  18. Rather than start another thread on MLB.TV issues... One of my employees is moving out of the Brewers' market this summer. It recently occurred to me that a nice parting gift might be a subscription to mlb.tv for the rest of the 2008 seasson, so it would be easier for him to keep following the Brewers. Given the way it appears to be set up, am I correct to assume that it would not work if I made the purchase, since my credit card 'home' address is in Wisconsin? I could front him the $ as a gift, though it wouldn't be too much of a surprise then, and he could sign up once his new home information is established. Does that make "MLB sense"? (I figure they have their own special brand of 'sense.')
  19. Passersby were amazed by the unusually large amounts of blood.
  20. We won't see our mail until we're back in town on Saturday. Last fall our player rankings were Corey, Carlos, Yo and Rickie, and the posts above give me a feeling I'll be seeing you guys in the CV line as well. If Carlos does pitch on the 26th, I can kind of, sort of, see why they wouldn't have him tire out his arm (? like the others wouldn't be in the same boat potentially) by signing a bunch of balls that morning. But I'd be much less inclined to make the trip from Madison just to retrieve an already-signed ball. Seriously, if that were the case, I'd ask my rep if we couldn't save on gas by picking it up Friday night, when we'll already be at a game (since the balls will presumably be signed by then). On the bright side, it appears at least they haven't told people that due to a last minute schedule conflict we'll instead be receiving photos from Craig Counsell, Gabe Gross, Guillermo Mota and Seth McClung with the autograph stamped on. (Nothing particular against those guys; I was just trying to think of less exciting players. Prove me wrong!)
  21. Corey in the 5 hole? It already sounds more promising.
  22. The eggs blew up? or the microwave? The latter sounds like it would be a large mess. At least the former should be a contained mess.
  23. Well. They almost tripled their hit output from Tuesday night, but still. I am tempted to make my annual request for team hypnosis. What if that could solve their woes?
  24. Not the best guy, but not the utter worst either.
  25. well, the third pitch was a swinging strike.
