  1. Sometimes the JV/forfeit lineups come out and surprise us. It's not like they have to hit significantly better to look better than the "A" lineup has lately. Even if they don't today, I can't say I object to resting a few starters for the next series. Anyone else feeling fear in their heart upon seeing Wes Helms' monster career line vs. Parra?
  2. Label me as a fuddy-duddy if you must, but I'm siding with the anti-gagne-rhea camp. STDs aren't funny.
  3. I attended the season ticket holder autograph session today and enjoyed it. The registration line was unevenly long (apparently a lot of season ticket holders have R,S and T surnames) but once I got my Corey Hart card and got to his line, it went pretty quickly. Corey seemed like a nice guy and said "thanks" when I asked him to stay healthy and have a good season. I believe I avoided looking like a dork. Corey and Yovani signed in the Brewers' dugout. I assume Rickie was in the visitors' dugout, Carlos didn't sign because he pitched tonight, and Ryan Braun was signing bats (in "last minute" lieu of Prince) for full season customers by home plate. To my surprise, the Brewers employees weren't really rushing people through the lines (when I was there, at least), so people who had just got their signed baseballs were milling around the warning track outside the dugout. I then noticed a lull in Corey's line, so I went back in and had someone take my picture with him, and got a handshake to boot. I'm sure this is no big deal to those of you who are frequent autograph seekers, but I was pretty happy and geeked out over meeting a Brewer, and one of my faves to boot.
  4. One of these days, pitch. In the meantime, as long as a Brewer gets the W, I can deal with it.
  5. Prince with the soy dog power. http://forum.brewerfan.net/images/smilies/smile.gif
  6. This morning, I asked Corey to stay healthy, so I can only assume that he will do so. http://forum.brewerfan.net/images/smilies/smile.gif
  7. Not to bring down this very entertaining mustache thread, but when Corey signed a baseball for me this morning, he was clean shaven above the lip, and stubbly on the chin.
  8. Conversely, tonight is our third game since Monday. I love the Brewers, but I have to try to not schedule at this pace in the future. The first Gallardo start we attended last year (his debut) was one of the happiest nights I've spent at MP. I look forward to this one too.
  9. Spinning off the Yosted T-shirt concept...I saw someone in a Yosted shirt at Wednesday's game - not our design, but I'm guessing a firenedyost.com design. If you were this person (sitting in the front row of a terrace box), send me a PM, or at least accept my apology for not approaching you to say hi the other night.
  10. Regarding the image in TLB's post #32 above...there's a guy on the UW-Madison campus whose facial hair is disturbingly similar to that. I don't think he's balding on top, though. (actually, he usually has a hat on, so it's hard to tell) (edited to add post number)
  11. This thread needs, nay demands, a picture of the newly 'stached Corey.
  12. Prince's 8th inning jack also made me think of that August 4 game from last year (although there was no miracle catch from Corey in the 9th, which in a way is just as well). At least if a closer falters today, it won't be as much of a surprise as it was in the August 5 game last year. I thought 'eating for the cycle' was having one of each of the sausages. I could be wrong, and I suppose the 'cycle' doesn't exactly pertain now that there are five sausage types at MP. Now that I think of it, I should have suggested that the kid also have a soy dog. http://forum.brewerfan.net/images/smilies/tongue.gif
  13. Fun fact: Jamie Moyer is 3+ years older than I am. And I'm one of the older posters around here. C'mon, Brewers, it'd be like teeing off against me!
  14. Well, that was a double happiness surprise game. The Jenkins montage at the start of the game was a nice gesture. By his first AB I was already kind of thinking, OK, but you're on the other team now. Toward the end of the game, that was my G-Whiff up there. http://forum.brewerfan.net/images/smilies/smile.gif Dave Bush kept the game from getting out of reach - I'll take it. Prince and his Boca Blasts - I'll take them. Derrick in the 9th - man, I admit, I said to the S.O. as Kendall ended the 8th, "at least the bottom of the 9th would feature the top of the order." But I was glad to be wrong. I got the feeling that tonight's crowd (at least within my earshot) really wanted to see him succeed (whether they believed it would happen or not). I'm happy for him and hope this outing builds his confidence. The high schoolers who sang the national anthem had seats in our section and pretty much surrounded us the rest of the night. This kid with a Fielder jersey had just finished eating for the cycle when Prince hit his second bomb, and I had just flipped my cap into rally position. We both felt like we had made a difference. I want to know who was sitting in the front row of 417 with a firenedyost.com "Yosted 08" shirt on. I figure it just about had to be someone who posts here. Finally... I don't know if I have ever been so excited about an April win! This was exciting because of the comeback and because it was at home, but it was one year ago tonight that we were all very excited about this April win. (Happy birthday, Team Canada - somewhat belated)
  15. I haven't seen that before. If no one chimes in here, I would contact my ticket rep if I were you.
  16. The Boston Marathon was Monday. Oooh, look, 1000 posts for Jimbo.
  17. Really, the only prime time program I make a point of watching anymore is The Simpsons. Akin to that is Madison's finest, the Simpsons Hour, Monday through Saturday on FOX 47, but I miss a lot of those. If I'm not in attendance at a Brewer game, I'll watch some on TV, but just as often follow by radio or this message board. Even Badger basketball I've followed more either by radio or in person than on TV. Admission that will make you guys want to jeer at me: if I have a weekday off and get up early enough, I'll try to catch the back to back Waltons episodes on the Hallmark Channel. It's a comfort thing. But that's not weekly or anything.
  18. Huh. That'll show me for turning off the computer and going home from work and not immediately tuning in to a media source upon arriving home. Well, Gabe certainly ended his Brewers tenure on a happy note. Good luck to him.
  19. This is not a favorable-looking matchup on paper, is it? I guess that's why they play the games.
  20. Prince's music last night sounded very much like the opening riff from Shaft. There was enough other noise so I couldn't tell if it is the original Shaft theme or a different song that sampled Shaft. I'd like to think that opponents might say of Prince, "he's a bad mutha (shut yo'mouth)."
  21. Just goes to show that it's gonna be a long season and writing off guys in April might not be the best policy. Amen to that, robbo. I won't say it's never a temptation, but you know what happens when you assume. And as always, never underestimate the power of cheese sandwich images. And Gabes. http://www.buzzle.com/img/articleImages/35189-34.jpg
  22. Well, if someone's arm falls off, the Brewers wouldn't have to mess with any goofy waiting period before calling people up from the minors.
  23. http://images.jupiterimages.com/common/detail/00/81/23288100.jpg
  24. Along those lines, CBS' college basketball music lost its appeal for me a long, long time ago.
  25. Mmmmm....Original Pancake House. Only I go for either the strawberry pancakes (available at the Madison and Monona locations) or the spinach omelet.
