  1. The UW-Green Bay newspaper beat Stevo's texter to the punch: Click here.
  2. You may want to clarify whether it's for the home opener or another date.
  3. I hope that bottom of the 9th didn't drag Bert55 down too far on his birthday. Just focus on the end result! Eric Gagne owes TGJ a nice dinner or something.
  4. D'oh, I opened this thread just at 8:01 PM. How'd it go?
  5. Zambrano looks like the devil in his picture on the Brewers homepage on mlb.com http://brewers.mlb.com/images/gameday/mugshots/mlb/407296.jpg He does just need little horns, doesn't he? And maybe more red.
  6. Oh, yeah, the summer internship. http://forum.brewerfan.net/images/smilies/smile.gif
  7. I didn't get out of work today. If the game is played I'll try to keep an eye on Gameday and this site. I'll use up enough leave attending games this season. Now, Friday, I might take off.
  8. Wasn't there a start time moved up in advance of a hurricane in Florida a couple of years back? I'm thinking it was Cubs-Marlins. I suspect it'd only be big (as in hurricane sized) weather that would prompt the kind of rescheduling you're talking about. Smaller storm systems, even if they're severe, are probably too unpredictable to allow time to say, we're making this into a day game. Imagine if you turned a night game into a day game because a squall line was expected, and the line broke up before it got to Milwaukee County. Heck, the winter of 07-08 has shown us that you can't always be sure where a blizzard is going to hit until it's happening.

  12. I picked up a 2008 'guest information guide' at the game Saturday and I see no mention of a retro anyday. Not even a Turn Back the Clock Night. (There is still a Negro League tribute day, on July 5, and Cerveceros Day on September 6.)
  13. Is 'slob' even a verb? I submit that it is not. It was I who emailed the Brewers a couple of years ago, and was told 'slobber.' That doesn't mean I believe it.
  14. OK, bball, I'll admit there are memories of Ruby Q that I don't mind retaining. But there was a degree of craptasticness. Leo Estrella? Dave Mlicki? Travis Phelps (or was it Tommy?)? Kane Davis? Despite my wanting to dismiss a lot of these guys, I was heartened to see someone at the rummage sale sporting a Gary Glover jersey. And I admit that there was a time I would have been lured by the Glendon Rusch jersey - although that time has pretty much passed.
  15. Corey had something different, but not being hip I couldn't identify it. It is not a country tune like he used at the end of 2007. I'm sure posters will sleep better tonight knowing that Craig Counsell is still using "All Along the Watchtower."
  16. I always look through the racks of shame (OK, that's not fair, maybe the racks of has-beens) but I left content with the Doug Davis jersey I already have. I paused at the Rick Helling navy jersey, but considering how many of those jerseys I recognized from last April, chances are it'll be there in 2009. Matt Wise, I thought about a bit too. But then I had to scowl at the DeJean and Capellan jerseys, which distracted me. While I was checking the rack of unsigned jerseys, I was commenting to someone about the craptastic selection; then I saw him later with a newly purchased Quevedo jersey. If it's someone who posts here, good for you (and I'm sorry I didn't ask if you posted - I never have that nerve, unlike several of you who have asked me over the years).
  17. I've never heard of French Toast Crunch, but I bet it's more maple-y than Cinnamon Toast Crunch. Graham crackers and vanilla soy milk: that's exactly one of my S.O.'s favorite treats. AmyintheSouth, thanks for the tip. I can walk to a Trader Joe's in nine minutes, and I'm intrigued about trying their knockoff oat squares. Brewers4eric, if you have access to a Woodman's grocery, I am pretty sure they carry Quisp. And my current awesome Kashi cereal is Cinnamon Harvest (I think that's the name) - pretty much mini-wheats flavored with cinnamon. Oh, yeah.
  18. Jamie's on drugs! Well, just on drugs - not "DRU-U-U-GS!"
  19. Wouldn't it have to be the "Two-Fisted Slobberer"? Thank you, TLB! This has been my point for a while now. The noun version of someone who slobbers would be slobberer. The noun version of someone who slops - slopper. They played the video on Saturday too. What I don't remember is whether Bob Betts voiced it in the 80s. It's definitely someone else's voice, though the inflection of key phrases is just as I remember it from days of yore ("for whom that next one could be that..one-too-many"). I don't care what Aleta Mercer told me when I emailed her during an earlier debate on this issue. Slopper forever.
  20. Cracklin' Oat Bran is good, though it has more grams of fat than I'd like to see in my breakfast food. (Eventually, that stuff matters.) I really hate soggy cereal - so if I'm going to put milk on cereal, it has to really hold up. The peanut butter Cap'n Crunch is the only kind I'd even consider anymore, and then I might indulge myself once every few years or so. The square Cap'n Crunch pieces felt like they were scraping the inside of my mouth, so I had to stop. Those red berries were all right, though, and easier on the gums. Strawberry Chex and Chocolate Chex look sick and wrong to me.
  21. Well, at least Wisconsin wasn't the highest seed to lose to Davidson. It's a stinger tonight, but overall they exceeded my expectations for the 07-08 campaign.
  22. If we can talk about mustard and barbecue sauce, surely there is room here for a cereal thread. For those of you who eat cereal, what kind(s) do you like? What do you hate? Or, what cereals of the past do you miss? I like Quaker Oatmeal Squares. I don't even need milk for those. I don't like cereals with raisins. As a kid I craved cereals like Count Chocula, Cap'n Crunch and Quisp - but they're too sweet for me now. There used to be a vanilla flavored Cap'n Crunch. I liked that a lot. And when I was in college there were these mini-wheats with apple-cinnamon filling. I loved those. To add to the jump-start for this thread, here is a statement Fatter Than Joey made in the Random Thoughts thread: Kix has to be the worst cereal of all time. I wouldn't use it to insulate my attic.
  23. OK, but during a Cubs- Brewers game the Brewers might be injured.
  24. Oh, my goodness. Obviously I hope for a full recovery for the Sharpie.
  25. I like your optimistic take, but I'm not feeling any better about this game. Davidson is doing the sorts of things in the early second half that Wisconsin usually does.
