  1. If you borrow a library book, and your friend's dog destroys it, own up to the damage and your responsibility for it. Don't just put the book remains in a Ziploc bag and put said bag in a book return, apparently hoping no one will notice or connect the transaction to you. After you get a bill (because the library did notice and did connect the transaction to you), don't act like it's not your problem because it was your friend's dog, and the friend is now out of the country. It will not get you off the hook.
  2. That speaks volumes.
  3. I think it's okay to eagerly anticipate the arrival of tickets. It's one of my favorite signs of spring.
  4. Nuts. A first-round Duke loss would have been sweet, and would have obliterated any media attention on any other first round upset. Not that I specifically expect Wisconsin to be a first round upset.
  5. Ooh ooh, I found a sound clip, at least. Three-peat! You got mail, ba-bay!
  6. Go Bucky(tuba)! It's your birthday! Go Bucky! Go Bucky! I need a clip of that Simpsons episode where the guys are playing basketball down at the Y and Carl acts offended that people would assume he's good at hoops because he's black, then proceeds to dunk and trash talk. Unfortunately, I haven't found one. May Cal State Fullerton not ruin the day for you.
  7. Calling vandals immature and cowardly is not political. Commenting on the target and motive can too quickly get political and heated. Fairly or not, the military has become a slippery slope kind of topic. The political forum is linked in post #2 and is literally a click away. Please feel free to continue the discussion there.
  8. This already happened in 2001 due to 9/11 games being postponed. Indeed it did. But I think I'm going to stop short of altering the quote to add "which wasn't postponed from earlier in the season." http://forum.brewerfan.net/images/smilies/smile.gif
  9. I think that vandalism is a needlessly destructive act, regardless of the target. Perhaps we can agree on that. For this topic, discussion about the specific target and motive is hard to keep apolitical. However, And That (the TobyCrat) continues to maintain a separate forum for politics and religion. If you're logged in to post here on Brewerfan, click on the link and you'll be logged in to post there. Thanks.
  10. I'm afraid I can't begin to guess what your symptoms might indicate. However, if your medical coverage gives you a choice of physicians, consider switching to one who makes you feel less like 'a product on the conveyor belt.' I've used the same clinic for about 15 years. I didn't actively switch doctors, but when my first one transferred to the west side, I decided not to follow. My current doctor is wonderfully responsive - it's like a night and day difference from before. Perhaps a change could help in your case.
  11. When I think of Arthur C. Clarke, I more often recall his Profiles of the Future, which I had to read in high school. His concepts of "failure of nerve" and "failure of imagination" have stuck with me ever since.
  12. We didn't have to sign for either of our deliveries.
  13. See, now, I don't even try to tell myself any such nonsense. I think that in itself confirms a degree of addiction.
  14. I doubt it, Al, as the surname of record in our account begins with T and our tickets arrived last Tuesday (loge) and Wednesday (terrace). Maybe the terrace ticket treat is one of the later mailings (like the 9 pack appears to be).
  15. I could go for that program, or the Eldred ball. I'll try not to be greedy.
  16. Along with joining in on the heaping of kudos onto Pedro, I'll point out that the only Brewer I've ever had my picture taken with (to date, she said hopefully) was Cal Eldred, and it would be very neat to have a baseball signed by him.
  17. When I first noticed myself thinking (while sitting at a game) thoughts such as "ooh, they won't like that on the forum." And this was well before I was on staff.
  18. You know, based on your initial post I thought it sounded like a terrace ticket treat (or whatever they call that).
  19. If Nate doesn't read the forum, I am confident that someone from the Brewers who does will see this and alert him to it. Nate's our guy too, so I'll add to the props. Like pitchleague, our account is not very big-time - although we did add a second plan this year - yet I never feel like a small time customer when he's working with us. Maybe the customer service is just *that much better* for full season customers (peeled grapes, personal errands run, I don't know), but we have been consistently happy with his service. Of course, if he does read the forum, or starts to, pitch and I probably have our covers blown by now, and the Brewers will be able to identify all of our posts. Nuts.
  20. The Eleva-Strum girls lost to perennial D-4 power Flambeau this morning. Alas. However, some bf.net posters can enjoy another day of vicarious high school pride. Oshkosh West and Monroe are playing for the gold basketball in their respective divisions on Saturday. And the Lady Cheesemakers aren't facing a team with an Izzo on the roster this time. Edit: And Monroe won! or as the headline in the Monroe newspaper read, The Cheese Stands Alone. http://forum.brewerfan.net/images/smilies/smile.gif
  21. I have a police officer sibling too, who stopped by one evening (rest assured, the neighbors always notice when she stops by in squad/uniform!) and showed me, without demonstrating, how a taser works. With the tasing part disconnected, it's kind of just a laser pointer, which had one of our cats interested. It was funny to watch the cat chasing the laser pointer and thinking, hmm, he's pretty much playing with a taser.
  22. Here's what Wikipedia says I think it's refreshing to find someone who doesn't know about Jessica Simpson.
  23. Same here, obsessed. And I work just a stone's throw away from Humanities.
  24. It's just marketing to a different demographic As is so often the case, that's what it comes down to. A green ball-glove logo cap won't turn my head, but enough other people will buy it. That's fine.
  25. I asked our ticket rep about this when ordering our exhibition game tickets earlier this month. He said that the date of the event* is still being finalized (since it requires coordination with each player, and communication with their agents). His opinion - which I interpreted as not necessarily an official Brewers opinion - was that the event would be either April 7 or April 28, as they are both off days and either in the middle of a homestand or between the end of a homestand and a nearby road series. The rep said that season ticket holders would receive an invitation via postal mail when the date is set. He also could not say whether the event will be during the day or in the evening. This is a difference of some significance for me, as a weekday event means I'd have to take the day off to travel to Milwaukee. I would be unhappy to discover that something mandatory at work means I can't meet Corey Hart. *I don't have the season ticket renewal folder on hand right now, but my recollection is that this "player event" for partial season ticket holders was to include meeting one of four young rising stars (Corey, Yovani, Carlos V or Rickie - you had to rank your choices 1-4) and get one autographed baseball per ticket account. (Additional autographed balls available at $50 each.) Full season ticket holders can meet Prince and get an autographed bat. I don't know what "meeting" actually entails; and I don't know if the full and partial ticket holder events would be held together or separately. I don't remember a dinner being involved in this event, as it was described in the season ticket renewal folder. I do remember discussion on this forum about a dinner being part of the winter warmup. Edit: Let me add that it's almost always been my experience that the Brewers are receptive to questions (like the ones I asked about this upcoming event). I can count on one hand the number of times I've been dissatisfied with the response I got from them (over 15+ years), and there has really never been a time when a question of mine went entirely unanswered. Although we've been season ticket customers for a while, it's not like I mention that every time I ask the Brewers anything.
