  1. Just keep that on the videoboard. http://forum.brewerfan.net/images/smilies/smile.gif
  2. Must win? If the Brewers do not bat around at least twice in their half of the first inning and build a massive lead, the game - nay the season - will be all but over.
  3. I would not have guessed that he was the oldest Cardinal on the roster. (Emphasis on was now, I guess.) Good luck to him.
  4. Yeah! If someone out there who's sick had stayed home, I might not have my second cold this month. Two in a month. And it's a short month!
  5. You could certainly argue that the 1982 ALCS has been (for better or worse) the defining moment to date of the Brewers franchise. But I understand Hunt's choice of baseball moment. I also like the choice of Favre moment. As many of you know, my NFL fandom is extremely casual, but I gasped aloud in 1997 when that play was completed, and got a little misty watching Brett joyfully run off the field. I think I'd have made room for a Badger moment - probably Bevell's run. The significance of that Rose Bowl victory for UW athletics was off the charts. But I imagine a JS writer is about as likely to favor the Bucks and Warriors over the Badgers as a Madison writer is to do the opposite.
  6. "I should know better than to get into a fight with salad tongs," said Wise, who says he is not a klutz so much as he is unlucky. "You always lose those." http://forum.brewerfan.net/images/smilies/laugh.gif
  7. (yea, that's why I bailed so mysteriously...) And here I thought you were just a quitter. My apologies.
  8. By gum, it is working. I might just have something to 'direct' again.
  9. My sister married a man with the same first name as our brother. We've been surrounded by Dans for over five years now. Or is that OK because it's a brother's name instead of a sister's name?
  10. Ooh, I can get behind that choice, Stevo. http://forum.brewerfan.net/images/smilies/smile.gif
  11. That would be a better question for the Brewers than for me. So Zach, you got on CNN? Maybe there's a clip on their website.
  12. If you mean, 'what is TooLiveBrew quoting', it's a sports column from the Capital Times. See my reply #117 in this thread.
  13. I believe season ticket holders get first crack at tickets for the Royals games, starting Monday morning. The Brewers sent an email to season ticket holders about it last week.
  14. Todd Finkelmeyer of The Capital Times in Madison quoted from this thread in his Hit and Run column today. Here is the relevant text: Did you hear the big news out of the Milwaukee Brewers' spring training camp? And no, we're not talking about the fact that Yovani Gallardo, the young right-hander who was the star of the Brewers' pitching staff for much of 2007, underwent knee surgery this week to repair torn cartilage. No, the really big news is that All-Star first baseman Prince Fielder recently decided to become a vegetarian after he received a book from his wife, Chanel, that described how certain animals are treated and slaughtered for food. Apparently, the massive Fielder -- who is listed at 6-foot, 260 pounds -- basically decided on the spot to stop eating meat on Feb. 3. "After reading that, (meat) just didn't sound good to me anymore," Fielder told the Milwaukee Journal-Sentinel. "It grossed me out a little bit. It's not a diet thing or anything like that. I don't miss (meat) at all." Fielder says the new lifestyle has him feeling cleansed and that his energy level is up. The Journal-Sentinel article led to the following great comments from people posting on Brewerfan.net, a fan message board: Hawing wrote: Imagine if the increase in energy translated into more inside-the-park home runs. Nader Raider Tim wrote: So when do the Brewers announce that they are introducing the Boca Brat into the Brat Race? SoCal Brew Crew Fan wrote: I love Prince, but he's been a veggie for how long? Two weeks? That's like me drinking too much on Saturday night and having a front page article on Monday that "SoCal Brew Crew Fan permanently gives up alcohol." I can't buy it yet. Neither can I, SoCal. Neither can I.
  15. Save that idea for the 2009 bf.net t-shirt contest.
  16. Based on the website photo, Ryan's bobble appears to be standing atop a wedge of cheesehead-yellow cheese. Thanks, Milk Marketing Board. I assume that was your idea. http://milwaukee.brewers.mlb.com/mil/images/schedule/y2008/0601promo_150x200.jpg
  17. Adam McCalvy's take on this includes the following: Since news of Fielder's dietary change first appeared, fans began to suggest on Internet message boards that the Brewers should jump on the bandwagon. The team should offer a veggie sausage, they said, for those who are not into bratwurst and hot dogs. (waving at Adam, in case he's still checking out this thread)
  18. This forum grows on ya... kinda like fungus. Never have I felt so proud to be part of this. Let's put that on a T-shirt! http://forum.brewerfan.net/images/smilies/tongue.gif
  19. My avatar represents blue kool-aid, which I'd like to think all Brewer fans sip at least occasionally.
  20. Why, oh why couldn't this story have come to light before our T-shirt contest deadline?
  21. If I read that PDF correctly, Fan Appreciation Night is on Thursday, September 25. I guess they don't want a cubs fan to win the fabulous prizes? (though they have no problem with cubs fans possibly winning Brewers jerseys on Sunday the 28th) Intriguing; and it makes me want to switch one of our games to 9/25 now. Edited to correct a date.
  22. Imagine if the increase in energy translated into more inside-the-park homeruns. http://forum.brewerfan.net/images/smilies/smile.gif
  23. The kettle corn that's available at Miller Park is also available at Maryvale - I think for the same price. That's all I remember from last spring.
  24. Well, Upon seeing the thread title I thought about writing off the 2008 season and finding something else to do with the time I usually spend on bf.net (because what's the point? The Cubs will run away with the Central). However, splitter's talked me off the ledge. Thanks, Todd!
  25. I feel slightly less geeky for having bought a Branyan autographed baseball at the On Deck event last year.
