  1. Miller bunts! Gwynn's around third! He's gonna try to score! Here's the throw to the plate and he is...SAFE! SAFE! The Brewers win it! The Brewers win it! Oh my God, the Brewers win it! Ah, naivin, I purposely got out my copy of Major League earlier this month just to watch the ending - I guess for some attempt at Milwaukee mojo. It practically brings a tear to my eye every time - I think it's just seeing a full house (albeit a full house of extras) go nuts at County Stadium over a baseball 'championship.' Of course, seeing Rene Russo in her Gunne Sax-style outfit (who dresses like that for a ball game?) waving her ringless hand at Tom Berenger slightly diminishes the happy baseball mood for me. Still, I appreciate the analogy you made. Returning to the topic at hand, I think I'd least want to see Carne Estrada at the plate in a situation that calls for such clutchiness, and that is not merely because of his knee.
  2. If it's completely my choice, I'll join the chorus...as Robb Edwards would say, CO-reyyyyyy Hart!
  3. Well, OK, then. I suppose that's just a pre-order thing, in case, you know. Because otherwise I'd be sorely, sorely tempted to get one. I already have a "1982 World Champions" Brewers pennant that brings me a degree of satisfaction.
  4. Good heavens. I've been trying to resist the temptation to think that MLB is pulling for the four-letter franchise, but this makes it harder. Is similar merchandise available for other unconfirmed postseason participants yet?
  5. I can't speak fully for the Brewers, but the inside back flap of that Postseason ticket brochure we got in August listed September 24 as a ship date. The brochure didn't seem to be tailored to just 20 game or just full season customers, so I imagine that applies to both groups.
  6. If you're going to the game tonight, try to get more of an M-V-P chant going when Prince is at bat. (Hint: the videoboard, out of town scoreboard and ribbon board will let you know when.) There were pockets of that chant last night (including our two lone voices in the terrace boxes), but there's room for improvement.
  7. http://www.uwbadgers.com/photos/2733_1.jpg My all-time favorite Wisconsin setter, Lizzy Fitzgerald. http://www.missoulian.com/specials/salute/posters/posters-print/VictorySign.gif
  8. 1-0 for Tuesday, that's all we ask of you.
  9. Ah, man...well, I'll aim to keep blue kool-aid man as long as I can for you, Robin19. Keep your chin up. Sucktember's almost over. Edit: At lunch today, I saw more caps/T-shirts from the four-letter franchise to our south than from the Brewers. Granted, I got to the Union a little after the rush, but I was still sad.
  10. The problem is not on your end, windiv, so don't go changing your personal Yuku settings just for the chat. Yuku has been using a third-party piece of software for the chat, which has not been satisfactory for anyone. They are aware of the difficulties experienced here and on other forums, and I believe are seeking either upgrades or alternatives.
  11. Part of tonight's new episode of The Simpsons took place in Chicago, and they showed at least two characters wearing cubs caps. I know it's just coincidence, but I really didn't need any more reminders - not tonight. http://static.yuku.com//domainskins/bypass/img/smileys/frown.gif
  12. Alfonso Soriano dartboard?....(insert Homer Simpsonesque moan and drool) I just crunched some numbers and if the Brewers raised the terrace box seat cost by $2 next year (which would be more than a 10% hike over our 2007 cost), we could apply our NLDS/NLCS postseason tab and still get $3.00 back. If they raise it by less, we'd get even more back; and if they raise it by a little more, enough of our '08 balance would be taken care of already so we almost might as well pay up by November 15. If we do, I will surely report what the 'exclusive' gift is here.
  13. At Monday's game, there will be no cubs score staring me in the face. http://static.yuku.com//domainskins/bypass/img/smileys/smile.gif
  14. Actually, pitch, in Saturday's mail we got a letter from the Brewers regarding 2008 season ticket renewals, with a summary of options for "unused Postseason payment from games not played." It mentions that a refund (should you choose to have all of your payment refunded) will be issued upon receipt of your returned 2008 renewal invoice to the Brewers ticket office. Seems to me that part of the letter would be a very logical place to state that the tickets also have to be returned - if that were the case. The options for 2008 renewal are: 1. Pay remaining 2008 season ticket account balance in full by November 15 and receive an exclusive gift. 2. Pay remaining 2008 season ticket account balance over 6 equal monthly installments beginning November 15. 3. Pay remaining 2008 season ticket balance, due January 15, 2008. Interesting for our account is that the amount we paid for those first two rounds of playoffs may well exceed the cost of our 2008 renewal (I expect some price hike, but it would have to be quite a bit to exceed our postseason invoice). It makes me wonder if the account reps will try to interest returning season ticket holders in upgrades for '08. In our case, we just might bite if they did - though ultimately, I suspect that the influx of new accounts will cancel out the Brewers' desire to coax more money out of us. In any case - as the letter also says, "In the event the Brewers are not fortunate enough to earn a Postseason berth in 2007 (hawing pauses to sob briefly), you can expect to receive your 2008 Season Ticket Renewal Packet the week of October 8, 2007." So they are savvy enough to strike while the iron is probably still hot.
  15. A better-than-.500 season is still within reach. That thought can sting, if viewed strictly in the context of the 2007 season; but in the context of the last 15 seasons, I think it still counts for something. I'll be rooting for it this week.
  16. I appreciate the effort, casey, but it is still not working for me. I am taking this as a sign from above to go back to doing something else while I listen to the game. I already got a couple of rooms cleaned downstairs, which is actually a good thing.
  17. I'm back to being 'wrong password-ed'. However, I can only stay a short while today (the people who are using our driveway for the Badger game want us to join them for supper first), so I'm not sure it's worth paging ransom just for me.
  18. http://g-ec2.images-amazon.com/images/I/61RT1tYW4bL._AA240_.jpg Ooh, ooh, a new CD of Simpsons music! This is my surprise gift from the S.O., who preordered it from Amazon. I'll give it a first listen later today. http://static.yuku.com//domainskins/bypass/img/smileys/smile.gif Maybe this doesn't fit in with the tone of the rest of the thread, but it was a very nice surprise for me.
  19. Now there's an idea, pretendastronaut: check the folder. http://static.yuku.com//domainskins/bypass/img/smileys/smile.gif SEPTEMBER 24 Postseason tickets and parking sent via FedEx to SSHs. Includes all ten (10) potential Postseason games played at Miller Park, plus one (1) Tiebreaker. OK, then. The Brewers shouldn't be mathematically out of it by Tuesday (when I'm assuming these would arrive). Yet I'll hope for something more favorable than merely "not mathematically eliminated" by then.
  20. Not to further bring down the mood of those of you not picked in the lottery, but are playoff tickets being mailed at some point to those who already ordered them? I'm not asking because I'm positive the games will be played. Indeed, I've been trying to prepare myself mentally for the possibility of their arriving the day the Brewers fall 5 games back or something dreadful. It just seems like if they don't mail them, MP (or any postseason hosting park) becomes a colossal will call headache. Plus we were asked to chip in $25 for shipping, so for that I want to get a big official envelope, preferably while the Brewers are still in contention.
  21. Indeed, you have mail. Sorry for the delay.
  22. http://www.9thx.com/content-thumbs/d1f97e30d04027831220a6f7447dd80c2 Three is a magic number, Yes it is, it's a magic number. Somewhere in the ancient, mystic trinity You get three as a magic number.
  23. I'm starting to feel indignation that the cubs haven't been awarded the 2007 World Series trophy already.
  24. In my post-game despair last night, I forgot to check this out. But I imagine like so much FSN programming, it'll see plenty of rerun action.
