    Do you define "from Wisconsin" as "living in Wisconsin now" or "born in/grew up in/previously lived in Wisconsin"? The latter should result in a higher percentage of posters than the former. Pitchleague's an example of the latter.

    Jazzy, the last time there was a tax rebate, a check arrived in the mail; so I imagine it would be the same this time.

    We attended three games at Maryvale last year. Each time we were able to walk up and buy good seats (it was a bit harder for a Saturday game vs. the Diamondbacks). At the end of the first game we attended, the PA announcer said, "If this is your first spring training game, it's always this good!" He was right. I'm not really into autograph seeking, but I did walk around one day and find myself peering into the bullpen, where maybe 10 feet away Derrick Turnbow was warming up - so close that I could hear the wooooosh of the ball as it flew past. That was...what did the kids used to say...hella cool.

    Man: What's for afters? Woman: Well, there's rat cake, rat sorbet, rat pudding...or strawberry tart. Man: Strawberry tart? Woman: Well, it' s got some rat in it. Man: How much rat? Woman: Three. Rather a lot, really. Man: Well, I'll have a slice without so much rat in it. (One slice of strawberry tart without so much rat in it later...)

    Expectations for Gagne (at least among "casual fans") will be particularly high, I think; so he stands to fall farthest.

    I had my "sportsed out" period in December. I think I'm over it now. This morning, while waiting for the bus in subzero temperatures, I had some of Dean Rosko's pre-game organ music in my mind. That helped.

    some guy was complaining that snow was piled too high at the curb. WHERE IS IT SUPPOSED TO GO!?? You know, in mid-December, after Madison's first few snowstorms (I'd say by then the city had seen 20+ inches that month), some piece of snow moving equipment came to our intersection, around midnight, and spent an hour or so dismantling the tall piles at each corner of our intersection. The backup horn on that vehicle was in extremely good working order. The sleep deprivation that night wasn't so cool, but it was nice to have a place to pile more snow again.

    I had to give up on Cap'n Crunch years ago. The pieces are so rough they'd scratch the inside of my mouth. Not quite Krusty-O jagged, but bad enough.

    I feel like I should change my avatar to Stephen Hawking for a day now. http://forum.brewerfan.net/images/smilies/wink.gif I can only speak for Madison, but here the snow got heavy again after midnight; and it's still too cold here for salt to be effective. Our streets were plowed sometime overnight (including the dead end street our driveway's on - which is (properly) among the city's lowest priorities), but with that much snow and this cold a temp, there is simply a limit to what crews can do. SmartBall is right on to call it a tough balancing act. Public employees and their employers are often damned if they do and damned if they don't. Attempts to save money/resources (by not paying overtime for MLK Day plowing, or saving salt for when it can effectively be laid) leads to complaints that they aren't doing enough. "Going all out," for lack of a better term, leads to complaints from others that they're spending too much. Although there are always some bad apples, most municipalities are doing their best to maintain a balance between reasonable service and reasonable spending. (full disclosure: I'm a public employee, though not involved in road maintenance, and I live next door to someone whose work is related to road maintenance)

    In (partial) defense of the road crews, our recent temperatures are too low for salt to be effective.

    I'm not aware of a big fire, and I don't know which way your window faces. However, during previous cold snaps, I've seen big buildings in Madison switch to coal burning, to reduce demand for natural gas, I'm guessing (the winter equivalent of turning off the AC for a while during a heat wave - though I don't know why burning coal is better). We noticed this when we used to live very close to Meriter Hospital. That's my only guess. Channel3000.com has no news of a big fire - it's all about the cold and the Packers.

No. I was actually trying to get away from locker room talk. http://forum.brewerfan.net/images/smilies/smile.gif I just think his head is shaped like the Grinch's. Don't get me wrong, I'm glad he's the Badgers' coach. But if you colored his head green and put him in a crudely constructed Santa suit, you've got yourself a Grinch.

    I've never been in an IKEA store, nor purchased or even really perused their products - even though it might be the kind of stuff I would like. Wouldn't Madison be an IKEA kind of city? Taking a mostly random tangent, I've also never eaten Taco Bell food. When I was younger (and probably more likely to fall for their ads and food), there wasn't a Taco Bell where I lived. Now I am curious to see just how long in life I can go without it.

    In tonight's episode of The Simpsons, they used the word "Wiggum-a-role" in place of "rigmarole." What a great word. I bet they were trying for years to find a reason to use it. (Here's a definition of rigmarole.)

    I don't know if a bf.netter is involved, but the Wagner Companies made a Festivus pole for Governor Doyle, which he has since donated to the Wisconsin Historical Museum. Linky goodness
