  1. how do we know when we're up for renewal? I think you get a reminder in your ezinbox, with a bit of advance warning. There is a reminder somewhere, and I bet someone else here can fill in the gaps in my memory.
  2. For hawing, here's an old picture of Jon with his hair 'exposed'. Which proves my point from a page or two back. Thank you.
  3. He's nearly a right-handed Doug Davis and is 6 or 7 years older for near the same money. Humbug! And he probably doesn't have that awesome wavy hair, to boot.
  4. "Prolly." It's "probably"!
  5. And yes, I apologize for what may be the weirdest analogy I've ever used in my life. It's just winter meetings excitement. We understand. http://forum.brewerfan.net/images/smilies/smile.gif
  6. Just as Mass, and later Colby have cemented my brewerfan addiction, it was your efforts that first introduced me to my brewerfan.net drug So Toby, how does it feel to be the "gateway drug"? http://forum.brewerfan.net/images/smilies/smile.gif
  7. we'll be in explosion mode I was just thinking the same thing, and said (almost) as much in the nearly full chat room.
  8. He would instantly become my favorite Brewer. I have to admit, there's just something about the name "Rocco Baldelli" that I think would play very well in Milwaukee. (Though I'd rather not see CV go.)
  9. It bugs me that in the last week I have received 3 or 4 mail order catalogs labeled "Last Chance" (for the holidays). They arrived in November. I think I still have time to order. The thing that bugged me the most is that they actually made me feel pressed for time for a moment.
  10. You need to boo Congress on this issue. http://forum.brewerfan.net/images/smilies/smile.gif
  11. I have April in the correct time pool, BTW. Go ahead, Peavey. I'm taking March 11, 2007. http://forum.brewerfan.net/images/smilies/smile.gif Here's why!
  12. I'll see if I can make it. http://forum.brewerfan.net/images/smilies/eyes.gif That would be two in hawing's party. And technically, Jamie came up with this idea two years ago. The '07 winter meeting will be Brewerfan's third. The inaugural event was held in Milwaukee and last year's was in Janesville.
  13. Regarding the time change, maybe I should leave it as-is, as i'd like to formally protest daylight savings time. Brian, how much were you kidding? Too often this last month I've looked at the forum time, then a local clock, then back to the forum time, then back to a local clock...then I start humming Chicago's anthem "Does Anybody Really Know What Time It Is." This in turn makes my S.O. (a longtime Chicago fan) want to put on his Chicago albums. Help me!
  14. I didn't realize others had access to my batcave. That's what I thought about right away! As for "aboot" and "hoose"...visitors to my library have asked me on occasion if I'm from Canada. I've never lived anywhere but Wisconsin (almost exclusively south central). I can't figure out why people think I sound Canadian. Anyway, carry on.
  15. 164? Craig Counsell is one popular guy. Or really hated. I think a lot of Brewerfan nation is simply wondering when the other shoe (or subsequent shoes) will drop. A bit of a disbelief factor, for lack of a better phrase. But I'd been wondering how the forum/website traffic this off-season (to date) compares to the same period last year. It feels like there's been less of a dropoff.
  16. Why would Pittsburgh want Ohka? To continue their domination of the Brewers with help from ex-Brewers? (i.e. to irk me?)
  17. I think I might cry if Hall gets dealt... billyhallfan, welcome to my world this week. (OK, not quite. But perhaps you get the picture.) At least you wouldn't be in the minority in your sadness. In Doug I trust.
  18. when they stand for the entire contest You mean like the student section at most every Badger event that has an organized student section?
  19. Wisconsin Men's Basketball losing to Missouri St. today...ugh I just "saw" that (using ESPN gameday or whatever it is for hoops). Flashbacks to 1999.
  20. I can't wait till I am married with my own house and family, because then I can stay home. Yeah, sorry, NMF, but splitter's right. Unless your future wife's family (or yours) is extraordinarily flexible, the balancing act just gets harder. Though technically, you could just opt to stay home and offend everyone equally. http://forum.brewerfan.net/images/smilies/wink.gif Or do the hosting every holiday, which can be a lot of work. Spinning off this... It bugs me that we spend half of our Thanksgivings and every Christmas on the road. On the S.O.'s side of the family, we are the only ones who don't live in The Hometown, so it's always easier to make us drive than to make everyone else drive to Madison. Not that we could fit them all in our house anyway, but since becoming homeowners in 1993 we have spent exactly one Christmas Eve in our own house (that was due to illness). I'd like to have a Christmas not involve hundreds of miles put on the car in a 30-36 hour period. My side of the family is more willing to take turns hosting, so we occasionally get to stay home for a Thanksgiving. But with my brother and sister both having young families now, it's harder for them to travel, and always perceived as "easier" for the non-parents. So it's still usually the car for us. Also (bear with me, guys, I'm on a roll)... The other reason our house is the last considered for holiday gatherings on my side of the family is because we have two cats and my brother is allergic to cats. I can understand that. Yet on the S.O. side of the family, no one ever vetoes the house with the three chain smokers on a physical comfort basis. I am literally still coughing today after spending five hours there yesterday.
  21. Working the day after Thanksgiving, when so many others have have a long weekend. Though I'm endlessly grateful to not work in retail.
  22. The phrase "Turkey Day." What's wrong with saying Thanksgiving? Plus there is a sub (perhaps sub-sub-sub) set of the U.S. population who eats something other than turkey today. I'm not in that subset, but I know people who are.
  23. Actually, I meant you'd surely be playing "The Final Countdown" daily (on your iPod or home/car stereo or whatever) to keep your passion for bf.net softball going.
  24. http://upload.wikimedia.org/wikipedia/en/thumb/7/7e/The_Final_Countdown_single.jpg/200px-The_Final_Countdown_single.jpg I fully expect you'll be blasting this daily for the next 189 days.
  25. Mark Green, Tommy Thompson, John McCain, and Bill Clinton Really? You're hearing from both sides of the ledger (so to speak)? In contrast, my household's voting habits must be pretty well pegged by these outfits, as we only get calls from one side.
