  1. Quiet, you. Let's not further legitimize that dude. May I hope out loud that Barry Zito isn't in a contract year? I don't want the Brewers to sign another dud based on a good NLCS appearance.
  2. The copy at my library is already in use, but I found another one to request.
  3. I noticed some of the Tigers were untucking after their Game 4. May there be opportunity for them to untuck again this year. Of course, STL nation will just blame it all on the Brewers anyway.
  4. I won't lie. I've thought of LaprilOne and TheBwaz every time I see this thread topic. Hosting the Twins every other year would be plenty enough for me (I'd appreciate seeing one more interleague opponent per season), but I get why MLB does the annual home-and-home. The early or mid-1990s were when the SO and I first noticed that the County Stadium crowd was more rowdy for White Sox games than for other AL opponents. CWS was the first team we started bypassing once we became "fan's choice" customers. But I don't remember any single team giving me as a fan fits (besides STL, which was only that one high profile time until the Brewers switched leagues). This is despite my being a lifelong Wisconsinite, yet having lived no farther north than Madison until I was age 24. Most of the Chicago talk I heard in Rock and Green counties was about the Cubs or Bears.
  5. Livan's leaving? [sarcasm]Nooooooooooooo![/sarcasm]
  6. I get myself through games like this by imagining the karma that will someday catch up with the Cardinals franchise. The squall line headed their way isn't enough, though.
  7. The commercial starring Bonnie the elderly lady who zooms through a CVS on her Segway. She grabs Vitamin D off a shelf and knocks more to the floor; then she grabs hand sanitizer out of another customer's hands; then she yells at the pharmacist that she wants a flu shot but has no appointment. What the hell is that? Bonnie is not doing her part to keep me out of Walgreens.
  8. The moderator in me felt like I should start a LCS IGT, so there's one posted now. But I'm pretty much in RFCoder's camp. If the WS somehow turns out to be SF/DET, I could watch that...maybe with the TV muted. Otherwise, it's the off-season.
  9. In the American League: Blue/Orange vs. Blue Pinstripes. In the National League: Sanctimonious Red vs. Black/Orange. Go. Talk amongst yourselves.
  10. I'd planned to implement my sports blackout only in the event of a NYY/STL World Series, but I am pretty sure I won't be able to stomach either of these pending LCSs. Hatred with the fire of a billion suns.
  11. I guess we can invite Nationals fans to join us on the eternal-hatred bandwagon. Sweet merciless crap.
  12. We visited Nationals Park for the Brewers' series in April 2010 (featuring the Counsell Grand Crush). The park isn't ultra distinctive, but I liked it. That series drew only 15K-17K per game, and we didn't feel even particularly in the minority wearing Brewers gear. One thing I enjoy about the postseason is when a team that hasn't had a chance in a while (or ever) gets a turn, and their park fills up and gets enthusiastic, and some fanbase other than NYY or STL gets a thrill. So I'd probably be rooting for the Nats tonight even if they were playing someone else.
  13. Don't let them back in, Nats. Just. Don't. You wouldn't believe how many fans of completely different teams are rooting for you.
  14. Aww, I wish JJ's dad still posted here so we could give him a virtual highfive.
  15. This is possibly the most beautiful expression of hate that I have ever read. You are so one of us, Kalle. That Nats walkoff was mighty sweet. I'd be fine with their advancing even if their DS opponent were someone else.
  16. Well, nearly suffered a similar fate. Had the Brewers lost game 5 last year, only one of the losses would have been at home.
  17. I'm not going to lie. I snickered aloud upon seeing Scott Rolen's costly error in the SF-CIN game 3. STL karma will catch up with you...
  18. Whoa. Not to make light of your brother's woes at all, Schlitz001, but his story could be posted in dentists' waiting rooms for a "scared straight" type message.
  19. I like the pose, but Bernie somehow looks wrong with individual teeth. Someday they should do a pose a bit more like this: http://images2.wikia.nocookie.net/__cb20110517172126/baseball/images/6/66/Bernie_Brewer.jpg
  20. Fixed that for you. Except you probably don't want to be jealous of someone who's in with Lucifer.
  21. [sarcasm]Duh, you can do that if you're a Yankee.[/sarcasm] I'm reeling now at the thought of NYY/STL in the World Series. Hubris vs. sanctimony. Unless it opened up a black hole that swallowed both stadiums, no good can come of that.* *with apologies to Principessa21. If NYY goes all the way, I will be happy for you, though pretty much no one else.
  22. That's about where I sit. Should a NYY/STL World Series take place, I might just withdraw from society for a bit.
  23. You got your Athletics and Tigers; Your Orioles and Yankees; Your Reds and Giants; and your Nationals and (not my) Cardinals. Here's a place to talk about these four series that don't include Milwaukee, but do include some mortal enemies and a few ex-Brewers.
  24. They won't. Every other team still in the playoffs is infinitely better than them. Based on whatever deal that franchise has with Satan, I'm not as confident as you, craigharmann. Surely karma will catch up with STL someday, hawing said hopefully.
  25. I would watch the World Series if that were the matchup. Would that be East Coast enough to make FOX happy?
