The Brewers are 6-3 in Anderson's starts. ok, let's see where that number is a month from now, but correction noted. All things aside, if Anderson is our number 5, I think we're doing ok. SOMEONE has to be your de facto worst starter. If we can win half the games he starts (which is reasonable), I think we're doing ok. We had a season where we went like 18-14 or something like that in Wayne Franklin's starts, despite the fact that he was brutal. Run support is random, and Anderson honestly isn't that bad. He's also not that good, but he's our #5 so it kinda is what it is. -

In 18, he was coming off an injury, and the offense had gotten stale as heck. McCarthy was calling the same 6 plays they'd been running for 10 years, and defenses had adjusted. Most of them were variations on "Aaron, run around a bit and hit someone in a super tight window" or "hit Davante on a slant" Every time Rodgers couldn't complete a pass in a 4" window in double coverage because defenders were jumping plays, because they'd seen the same 6 plays for the last 10 years, McCarthy had that quizzed, puzzled look on his face like 'Huh!? I can't believe that play didn't work! We've run it successfully for the last 10 years!"

My guess is your Daniel Robertson/Jace Peterson platoon is about just as productive as Shaw has been. While Shaw has been struggling he still has been coming through in the clutch to drive in runs. I don’t see the Robertson/Peterson platoon being as clutch. Shaw also has been solid on defense. Shaw had 19 RBI in April, and has 9 RBI in May and June combined. He's at a -.04 WAR, and no amount of clutch is going to overcome that amount of bad hitting.

Meh. Tough break for Shaw bit he is not really a loss for the Brewers at this point in his career. As much as it sucks to say it out loud, and I feel bad for Shaw, him being out for a few weeks or longer really isn't a loss at this point. IF anything, it's going to force Stearn's hand in going out and either internally or externally find a replacement. For well over a month he's been brutally bad.

I don't think it is though. There are people who are making a big deal out of Rodgers decline in order to justify the way the Love pick went down. I think that there's really not one part of the whole that's a separate discussion. Each part makes up individual pieces of the puzzle, but they all tell small pieces of the whole story. In 2018 Rodgers through for 4400 yards and had a 25/2 TD /INT ratio, while being sacked 49 times and coming off a pretty bad injury. Yeah, yeah, he held the ball too long and took too many coverage sacks. Sucks when your defense is awful and you're playing from behind a lot and trying to score points. In 2019, he had an "ok" (by his standards) season, and at the time the narrative was "how much of this is because he's playing in a new offense?" Now that we aren't supposed to like him, the narrative changes to well we thought he's old and declining, and I think that's just super disingenuous. Is he old, and of course, going to decline? Yup, as stated, father time never loses, but the narrative changes to fit the argument. Now, to be fair, if the Packers were offered 2 firsts, 2 seconds, and a couple good starters from Denver, I'd take it yesterday. I don't care if Aaron Rodgers wins another super bowl, but i do care if the Packers do, and building the best roster while he's still here is the best way to do that. If they move on from him, that window is closed for a couple years and Jordan Love almost certainly isn't the guy. I know that's my opinion only, but I'll state that with as close to certainty as I can.

Yeah.... People are rewriting the narrative to make it sound like 18/19 Rodgers was Jay Cutler bad, (straw man!) But he was still 'really good' instead of one of the top 3 QBs in the league.

I don't think anyone is thinking/advocating they trade him for nothing. But I do think they would trade him if they felt they got a fair return on him at this point. I would definitely look at trading him for a perceived fair return. If he goes on to mash somewhere else, then it is what it is.

I mean honestly, the guys Hiura should be being compared against are the guys he's competing against when he's playing major league baseball. What the rest of his draft class does or is doing is irrelevant at this point. The only thing that draft class matters is if you want to find out if the Brewers "won" by getting value for their pick. *At this point*, what matters is, can Hiura compete against big league players and provide value for the Milwaukee Brewers? Deriving some abstract value by saying "in 2019 he had an OPS+ of XYZ" doesn't do much for the Brewers going forward if he doesn't learn how to hit big league pitching. Yes, they got value for him in a past season, but that's not really the problem at this point in time.

Well... Even if they put their "stuff" somewhere else, umpire crews are regularly going to check the game used baseballs. If you're putting material on the ball, you're gonna run the risk of getting busted. -

I put it at about 5 percent that he actually comes back in the 2nd half. I won't say zero because almost nothing is absolute but he really sounds like he's enjoying not playing baseball.

I don't think anyone is saying that such a player is not valuable. I think what (most) people are saying is trading up and using a 4th to get a guy who probably won't start or contribute (but might!) During his first three years is not a great allocation of assets for a team on the brink of the super bowl

This is a lot better opponent than that Celtics team was. I guess maybe things turn if Harden is out awhile, but that didn't help any today. Budd didn't coach a good game today. That has to change. I agree with everything you said. I'm just not going to get down after one bad loss.

Meh. Bucks got slaughtered by the Celtics in game one 2 years ago. It's one game. The rest of the series is gonna play out for better or worse, but this is just one game. Bucks gotta start playing in the paint and stop taking contested off balance jumpers. I guess we'll see if they adjust.

The only thing I can think is that they're giving him continuation after the 0's because of the foul. It's the only thing that make sense because he definitely still had the ball in his hand at 0.0

After all that, cut it to two. Come out and shoot the ball and pound the paint. This game is still there to be won.

After that big run by the Nets and the terrible shooting, I can take being down only 5 at the half.
