  1. I like the idea but didn’t they just sign him to an extension? I think he’ll be moving to 1B. Yup. CJ Cron is on the Tigers now.
  2. Risky. Time will tell. I'm personally glad the Brewers aren't the team taking that risk with a guy Donaldson's age. If the NL had the DH already, maybe I'd feel differently.
  3. Minneapolis metro is 3.6 million. Milwaukee Metro is 1.6 million. TV market is 1.697 million for MPLS vs 837,000 for MKE, so they got us beat there too. https://www.sportsmediawatch.com/nba-market-size-nfl-mlb-nhl-nielsen-ratings/ Quick googling also looks like the Twins owner has a net worth that is a couple two tree billion higher than Mark A, for whatever that is or isn't worth. They also aren't competing with the Cubs and (lol) White Sox for fans. They have a pretty good grip of exclusivity on their territory.
  4. Donaldson has signed, so we'll close this thread.
  5. Minneapolis metro is 3.6 million. Milwaukee Metro is 1.6 million.
  6. IF..... IF this allegation turns out to be proven to be true... just give that school the death penalty.
  7. This I agree with. People still refer to Reggie Bush as a Heisman winner. No amount of sanitizing the past will change the fact that he won the Heisman. Just like USC was the 2004 National Champion. You can't go back and award a title to the team that lost the games. You think the Dodgers want a trophy they didn't earn? I'm sure they are furious that they lost it to a team that was cheating, but I'm sure they don't want a WS trophy just handed to them after the fact. Vacating it is even dumber (IMO). Everyone knows the Astros won. Suspend who you're going to suspend, and learn from it, and the sport has to move on. You can't pretend the 2017 WS didn't happen.
  8. I don't care if you're the manager of a McDonalds, a Baseball team, or a warehouse, you're responsible for the conduct of the people who work beneath you. If people are doing stuff they shouldn't do, and you know it, and don't stop it, and you're "the boss", your're ultimately responsible. Luhnow might not have known, but Hinch did, and busting up a monitor isn't the same as saying "we can't and won't continue this".
  9. I missed that. I didn't read the whole report. I'll amend my statement. I actually find that interesting. He hated it, smashed the tv they used to do it, and the players kept doing it?
  10. Here's my thoughts.. 1) 2 firsts and 2 seconds is a pretty considerable punishment. Homer laid out why. 3) I'd be absolutely shocked if they put a post season ban in place on any team. THat would be an absolute crusher to revenue, and that affects every team, not just the Astros. 4) Honestly, I think the biggest detriment to keeping teams from doing this kind of stuff won't be a huge penalty or a post season ban, but Cora getting a lifetime ban from the game. IMO of course.
  11. That over the top throw to JImmy Graham to gain 27 and the last throw to Adams on the big gainer were vintage Rodgers. He made a few "not great" throws but he didn't have any bad throws tonight.
  12. I don't think they get blown out again. I'm not predicting a win. Or a loss. Just saying I don't think the Packers get blown out.
  13. It already was when they clinched the division. This is all gravy now. I do feel that way, my expectations for next week are low. With that said, that's easy for me to say now and I'm sure I will still be extremely disappointed if they lose next week no matter how much I think the season has already been a success. Oh yeah for sure. They're on the doorstep of the super bowl. And even more so, the two teams on the other side of that coin are both somewhat beatable. If it was the Ravens, I'd feel different about it. The Patriots and Ravens have been knocked out, so we're in a situation where you're not just going to the SuperBowl to face a juggernaut. So I'm absolutely all in right now. If we lose, I'm going to be inconsolable for about 24 hours. Still though, at the end of the day, this season has been (hopefully) a return to prominence for the Packers, and in the bigger picture, IF they get beat next Sunday, that's what I'll (eventually) take away from it. No more trading down 3 picks to get 5 7th rounders, and expecting a bunch of undrafted street FA's to fill out 1/5th of the roster, and absolutely refusing to touch foot into free agent waters, except in the absolute most dire and necessary of circumstances. It's a new age of Packer Footbaw!!!!
  14. I don't even know how to take that. Even dominant teams lose quarters of even halves in most games. I feel like once someone has made up their mind, they're just going to see what they want to see. Bucks just won a west coast back-to-back by 21 points on each night. They're still on pace to have a top 3. of all time record. They still have a pt differential that would make them one of the greatest of all time teams, and we're still doing this, I guess? I feel like there's a big difference, a HUGE difference, between saying "I feel like the team is struggling right now" and "I don't like the stylistic brand of basketball that the team plays", which is completely understandable.
  15. Well, this awful 13 - 3 team is going to the NFC championship game. However you slice it going forward, this season is a success.
  16. I realize MLF is a first year head coach, but it's not like he's new to the NFL. Some of his decisions in this game are absolutely stunningly bad. Why run so much time off on the punt? Your defense has been bad all 2nd half. PLAN on the possibility that you may need to score again. If you don't have to, great! But plan on possibly needing to. 2nd and 8, your whole plan was .... drawing them off sides, and then when that didn't work, burning a time out? It's like McCarthy School of Clock Management. It may not hurt them in the end, but come on. "Draw them offsides" is not a play on 2nd and 8 when saving time outs should be at a premium.
  17. No pressure. Great coverage. Let's hold them to a long FG try here
  18. Is it ok for me to say Marshawn Lynch is just straight up fat? I'm not fat shaming anyone, but he's fat. If the Packers can pressure R. Wilson and contain their WR's, I still like our chances here.
  19. They don't have to have a signal to see who's ball it was on the review. They just have to have a clear recovery.
  20. There aren't going to be players coming up that fit that profile anymore. Every kid coming up is learning *launch angle* and driving the ball. Hitting the ball in the air with authority creates more runs than hitting grounders. Tony Gwynn and that profile of hitter isn't a market inneficiency, it's a staple of the 80's that no longer exists.
  21. You forgot to add 2 for Woodruff.... :D
  22. Those are fair points. Let's assume Arenado that outside Coors Arenado is even a 120 wRC+ guy. Arenado's huge deal only runs through his age 34 season as well, which I honestly think he'd be smart to not opt out of. Teams are going to start to be hesitant to hand out these huge mega deals to guys running in to their age 37 - 40 seasons. They just have to start understanding that paying someone 35-40 million in a season where they're going to be worth .7 WAR doesn't make any kind of sense whatsoever. I think a lot will depend on what happens in the next CBA. Even outside of Coors, it's reasonable to think that in his age 34 season, Arenado could be a 2 - 3 WAR player or so in his age 34 season.
  23. I was stunned to hear this yesterday. Just a huge influence in rock and music.
