  1. I mean...... that was right in his facemask.
  2. Nobody beats Ohio State anything more than rarely. When you're a perennial top-five team, you're a perennial top five team because you rarely lose games. Beating a dead horse, but most of the top five teams usually have a massive Talent Edge over the teams that aren't in that group.
  3. My argument against that is that it wasn't "the best relief pitcher on a good team" award.
  4. Gonna piggyback off of Peavey's earlier post. Reading facebook this morning and yesterday, (and this site), there's a lot of people saying "chryst isn't the guy/might not be the guy/should be fired". Wisconsin will NEVER be Ohio State. This state doesn't pump out the D1 recruits like Ohio does. Or Michigan, or Florida, or Texas. People can say the talent gap isn't that big, but it is. Barry Alvarez did a fantastic job getting the results he did with a bunch of 2 and 3 and occasional four star guys. Chryst is as well. If you're a fan of Wisconsin, getting to 3-4 NY6 bowls per decade is IT. That's what we can hope for. MAYBE, just maybe we might sneak into the playoffs once. If you're hanging your hat on some coach making us a national powerhouse... it's not gonna happen. It's Alabama, Ohio State, Oklahoma, and eeeeeeverybody else. I've been seeing this argument since Barry stepped down. "WE NEED A COACH TO TAKE US TO THE NEXT LEVEL". There is no next level for Wisconsin. College football is not the pros. This is not an even playing field. It sucks, but if you're a fan of Wisconsin, having a season where you go 12-1 and win an Orange Bowl should be amazing and fun and memorable!!!! Why are people fans of Purdue, or New Mexico State, or Vanderbilt, or whoever? Because College Football is fun and goofy. You have to accept that it's Alabama and Clemson and a few other teams per year, and MAYBE if you're a power 5 team, you get a ghost of a chance once in a while if the stars align, but that's it. There is no "reaching the next level". Wisconsin doesn't have the talent pool of D1 studs that these states have. It doesn't! Anyone can stand up and say "the talent gap isn't the problem!" but it is. It absolutely is, X100. Like HOmer, I'm happy with where the program is at. I'd LOVE to see the Bagders sneak into the playoffs. It might happen. I never thought I'd see the UW basketball team get to a National Title game, and a few years back, they were a few minutes away from winning it all. One of these years the stars might align. Maybe OSU will have a rash of injuries, or a recruiting violation will take them down a peg. Who knows? But we aren't, and NEVER will be "OSU". I'm ok with that. I've made my peace with that. It could be worse. I could be a fan of a team like Vandy or whoever, who will NEVER have a chance to win their conference. NONE of that means that the scheming and playcalling doesn't need to get better. It does. This isn't an either/or like some people want it to be. Both can be true. The talent gap is huge. The scheme and playcalling have to be better.
  5. Hader had a really good year. Would have been a great year if not for a few too many homeruns. Still, hard to see this going to him over Yates, who had a truly dominant season.
  6. The NFL isn't college where you have to impress pollsters. Just win, baby. The Packers have beat the Bears, Vikings, Cowboys, and a really game Lions (with the possible aid of questionable officiating). I don't care if they win by 1 point in 12 games..... just win. Blah blah blah the Cowboys came back..... that happens in the NFL. They still won the game. They're 6-1 against opponents with a combined record of 20-20-1. I don't care if the Chiefs have Mahomes, or Matt Moore, Rich Gannon or Steve DeBerg. It's the NFL. Nobody cares how impressive the victory is. It still counts as one win. Every team deals with injuries all season long. Boo-hoo. The Packers don't have to prove anything to anybody. If they win the game 35-7 or 23-20, take the W and move on to next game.
  7. Welp. Need an answer.
  8. Ive never been a fan of rugby punts. They take a good extra second to develop. Maybe its my perception but that punt that just got blocked and gifted tje badgers 7 is a prime example.
  9. I mean..... Great throw. Wow.
  10. Dont. Run. Backwards
  11. Get the ball at the 25 after a fair catch on the 6? That's a rule I never knew about. I knew the rule but I don't understand the decision. An opportunity to make an impact play and instead you call for a fair catch without a defender within 20yds of you. :Shrugs: Coaching mentality rubbing off on these kids. Im guessing with the wet ball they didnt want to risk a fumble on a return and give osu another shot at a short field.
  12. Gotta get off the field here.
  13. Well, at 0-0 at least everyone that predicted a blowout loss should still be watching.
  14. That espn article is a fantastic read ( wow did I just say that?) In every conceivable way, the astros screwed this up. Every opportunity to make a decision, they screwed up, except probably fiiring Taubman. Ill be surprised if he ever works in baseball again. This was a systemic failure, but he's the sacrificial example.
  15. Last week Jimmy Graham literally looked like an elderly gentleman they plucked out of a nursing home. I don't know how he looked this week, but I saw in the box he had 4 catches for 60+ yards. Last week whenever he went down to the ground, he struggled to get back to his feet like a lifealert patient, and he looked like he was running in quicksand.
  16. I didnt watch the game, i had it on the radio while doing other things. Just have to say that the amount/frequency of replay really not only slowed the game down but just disrupted the flow. Not sure if it did the same for viewing. Im a proponent of replay, but as others have said, we now have 4k super slow mo with so many camera angles theres just too much to get wrong. Its disrupting the game more than its helping get calls right. My 2c
  17. Rodgers was ok today huh?
  18. What is the record for plays reviewed in a game? I'm just listening on the radio, but wow, this game has no flow at all.
  19. Let's leave it at that and keep the discussion on the Brewers re-branding. Thanks gents.
  20. It's not that you're wrong, I just don't think it's a very realistic goal anymore. If they can end up still playing in a New Years 6 bowl, I'll be thrilled. I think there's a pretty decent shot they don't even play for the B10 Championship much less win it. Losing in Minnesota certainly looks plausible. How many more ways can I say "almost impossible"?
  21. I can't wait for the Badgers to lose to either OSU or Penn St so that people can come back and tell me that I'm wrong about the thing I'm actually saying is "nearly impossible" to do. sigh.....
  22. I said "is a near impossibilty". If they run the table "which is a near impossibilty" they'll still be in the playoffs. I dont expect them to. Mathematically, the possibility is still there.
  23. If the Badgers run the table, including beating Ohio St twice, they'll be in the playoffs. If they don't, they won't. What this loss does is remove the margin of error of being able to lose to Ohio St once, which really sucks. You now have to beat Ohio St twice, which is probably a near impossibility. I don't know if they came into the game today thinking they had a win already in the bag, or if they looked past Illinois, or if Illinois just played out of their minds or if Chryst needs to yell at his guys more. I know this. Watching Dabo Swinney chase down and scream at his kicker for 45 seconds for missing a field goal in a game Clemson was up 28-0 was just embarrassing. Today sucked, make no mistake. That's a game that not only you shouldn't lose, you really can't lose. Badgers put themselves in a really bad position. Only they truly know why they played as poorly as they did. Even with all that, they had the ball and a 2 score lead with less than 10 minutes to go, and then proceeded to turn it over on the next two possessions. They played poorly, but with 10 minutes to go, this game was a W unless they simply gave it away, which they 100% did. Lots of questions that they'll need to ask and answer of themselves in the next 7 days if they want to resurrect this once promising season.
  24. If they lose, there's a solid chance they will lose by more, as they lost by 1 point today...
