  1. Hits for a low avg. and doesn't take a lot of walks. Doesn't have a ton of doubles either. Still, a mid .800 OPS isn't the worst thing in the world. I think why it seems low is because he doesn't strike out NEARLY as much as most of the big sluggers.
  2. Cleveland up 6-2 on Detroit. Tampa has to play at the Dodgers, so even though LAD has their playoff spot clinched, those are not gimme games.
  3. Let's get this back on topic ASAP.
  4. I won't say that nobody ever notices the nets, but in my experience this is how it actually works for most people. When you get seats behind the net it is very jarring at first but you quickly adjust and they just are no big deal. Doesn't mean that everyone's brain works this way but the vast majority of them do. The first time I sat behind the nets, I immediately thought " there's no way I'm going to enjoy this", and by about the 2nd inning I honestly didn't notice it. I won't say that other people will have that same experience, and I guess it wouldn't be great for filming/taking photos, but that's my own personal experience.
  5. Not too long ago the brewers were only one game over .500. Now we're 2 weeks from the finish line and still playing games with meaning.
  6. I love it when Rock does break out once in a while and just show how pumped he is. Its ok to be a homer.
  7. I'd say it would be 1) Acceptable 2) Extraordinarily unlikely 3) A bizarre statistical anomoly
  8. I think it's facetious to say run differential doesn't matter. It definitely matters. Look at the teams that make the playoffs every single year, and you'll not often find a team with a negative run diff. I don't think people are saying you can't, but that's it's rare, and requires a bit of luck.
  9. Thames is streaky, like a lot of hitters. Shield him from tough lefties, count on him for 110 - 115 starts, and keep him out of the outfield and I don't think it's unreasonable to expect an .825 - .850 OPS. Dude has some warts but you know what you're getting. What the Brewers have to decide is if that's worth the cost of the option.
  10. I'm just glad Plesac isn't in the booth right now.....
  11. Youve been banned multiple times for activating the cuss filter. Another warning and its going to be a perma ban. Fyi. The idea of banning people for asterisks showing up their post made me laugh pretty good. Thanks, I needed that. There's a fan forum etiquette, and it includes no swearing/activating the cuss filter.
  12. If they score more than the other team, I don't care.
  13. Youve been banned multiple times for activating the cuss filter. Another warning and its going to be a perma ban. Fyi.
  14. Why even throw that ball?? 0% chance to get Bader there.
  15. Pittsburgh was 2 games back of the brewers at the ASB.
  16. Today is not "must win". If they lose and the Cubs win, they'll be 2 games back with 14 games left and a pretty easy schedule after the Cards. Not ideal, but this is not "must win". People have been saying "must win" since like July.
  17. I think that most people that don't like viewing the game through nets are also saying "other people's safety shouldn't be compromised for my inconvenience", and that's a very fair statement. I don't think the two sides of this argument are all that far apart. I do think the argument that people should be sitting in rapt attention at all times is just silly. Nobody is going to sit for 3 hours at a ballgame and just stare at the field. Aside from cell phones, there's so much visual stuff going on (scoreboards, ribbons, ads, people sitting around us to talk to, etc, etc, etc) that the "pay attention" argument is just (IMO) silly. Yes, you should pay attention, but sometimes stuff just happens. You can be paying attention and still get smoked by a foul ball. Most people sitting in the stands aren't professional athletes with world class reflexes.
  18. But it really doesn’t matter if there’s another poster or two that agree’s with you because the brewers don’t, and for good reason, and it’s called a pitcher with 4 pitches that he can locate = Starter 100% of the time. Nobody here knows what the brewers think. If people didn't post stuff based on their own personal ideas, and only posted "here's what I think the Brewers will do", there'd be nothing to talk about. This is particularly rich coming from you, as you post more than your fair handful of interesting ideas on a daily basis, some of which I'm reasonably sure are not on the Brewers brass radar.
  19. His last 2 starts have been pretty meh. The last 5 starts were really good. He went 27.2 innings and gave up 1 earned run in each of those 5 starts. I'd be inclined to go into next season at least with him in the rotation and see where it goes with him. He's definitely got the stuff.
  20. Not sure whey Freitas continues to be the first guy off the bench.
  21. Pleased so far with Black's results but it's 10 IP. really much too small a sample to draw meaningful conclusions from. He's walked over 5 per 9 in his minor league career, and 4.7 per 9 in the minors this year. A 10 inning sample where he's suddenly walking less isn't indicative of much. I'm not saying he shouldn't 'be in the pen next year. He's got insane strikeout numbers at every level. Just more than sure that 10 IP is a poor use of stats and sample sizes.
  22. Dodgers Braves Rays Twins Padres White Sox, that’s 6, all potential contenders in 2021. The Dodgers aren't giving up either one of Lux or May, let alone both of them. There isn't a single team that's going to give up four of their top 5 prospects to get Yelich, as good as he's been. That is a fantasy. It's just not even feasible. I know you've posted this idea in multiple threads, but there's not a single team in MLB that's going to give up their four top prospects to get one guy.
