  1. Just stop posting stuff like this. You don't have prescient powers that let you see things other people can't. Seriously. Just stop. Not going to ask again.
  2. There are probably fans who are upset that Brantley turned out great, even though Sabathia almost single-handedly brought us our first playoff appearance in forever. "Winning" a trade is overrated. If the trade accomplished what the team wanted it to accomplish, that's a win. The Brewers have already gotten more than what they hoped for with Yelich and at the exact time they needed it. If all four prospects pan out for the Marlins, that's great for them, as they needed players who could grow and help them down the road. The bolded is my point. That's exactly what I was saying, in a long and rambling way. We got a heavy hitting middle of the order guy (actually a 2 spot hitter) MVP player for four top prospects who weren't going to contribute right now. THat's a win, *no matter what* those four guys do for the Marlins. The Brewers can't acquire guys like Yelich in FA. Getting them this way (or drafting/developing) is the only way. When you can get a guy like Yelich in this manner, you do it! Prospects aren't just guys to develop, they are also assets to be used. Nature of the business.
  3. Definitely not agent39, who scoffed at the mere suggestion of signing him to a 3-yr deal for $12 million. I believe he said he would be laughing at it. He's still being super over-confident on social media. Makes it seem like he has all the MLB offers he wants...and just needs to pick the one he likes best. I would love to see JJ latch on somewhere and have continued success. I'll be rooting for him so long as he plays for all but 1 MLB team. If an agent isn't confidently boosting up his guy he's not doing his job. I'd also guess (this is just me guessing) based on what we know about JJ, that he's at a point in his life and career that if his choice is to not play, or take a MiLB deal, he might just choose to not play. Again, I'm saying that in pure speculation.
  4. I know we say we overvalue our prospects and we undervalue other team's prospects and etc, etc, etc..... I'm honestly curious for those that still think we gave up too much or are still on the fence what would constitute a "fair" trade or a win for the Brewers when they very literally have the best player in the NL (aside from maybe Bellinger) and there isn't a guy the Marlins got who is going to be an MVP caliber player. There just isn't. At SOME point we don't have to say "Well, we'll wait 8 years from now to see if Monte Harrison has had multiple 8 WAR seasons" to say that the trade was worth it NOW for a team that was going for it NOW. Monte Harrison wasn't going to put up a 1.000 OPS last year or this year, and neither was Lewis Brinson. You're giving up future potential for a sure thing now, when you're in your window. If Yelich produces 40 WAR over 5 years and these 4 guys produce 60- 70 WAR (I"m going with a hard "no" on that, for what it's worth) for the Marlins, it's still a win for the Brewers, because there was no way any of those guys were going to help get the Brewers to the NLCS in 2018.
  5. Since he made two outs in one at bat, does that wipe out the walk he had yesterday and bring his OBP down to .000?
  6. Ouch. Can handle losing, but twice having the bat taken out of your best hitter's hands by absolutely terrible, terrible strike 3 calls in a one run game is a tough pill to swallow.
  7. Kind of wish the tying run on 2nd was someone other than Chase Anderson.
  8. Agreed. He’s too good of talent to be doing what he is doing. He is mentally gone right now. It’s the only thing that makes any sense. As a Brewer fan, if you actually gave something up, anything up in the offseason for a guy that was coming off a sub .170 year at the plate, think about what your reaction would be. Then, when you're feeling that level of angst about a move that Stearns would never make, understand that the Brewers aren't getting anything for Shaw. I don't expect them to. I wouldn't be shocked or upset if they traded him for a low level lottery ticket and he turned it around and became a solid player again. He's just completely lost up there. his at bats are sad. He's overmatched.
  9. If there's a guy that needs a "change of scenery" trade, it's Shaw. I know it would be the very epitome of selling low, but he's completely lost.
  10. How is that 406? It's 402 to dead center and that was 20 feet up the batter's eye.
  11. Relax. Brew4u can handle himself. He doesn’t need you piling on Let's talk about the game. Thanks though.
  12. Yes..... because what I said is not wanting to sign Cole means I ONLY want to have Burnes in the rotation., and not explore other options.... Nice strawman
  13. Spoken like a fan beaten down by years of mediocrity. I wouldn't have pegged them to do the Yelich/Cain off season. They might not but they need to try. Trading for a guy on a team friendly contract (Yelich) is not at all comparable to signing a guy who is likely to be one of (if not the) premier free agent of the upcoming off-season.
  14. Even with their resources that contract will be a bit of an albatross for the cubs if he doesnt turn it around. I hope he doesnt.
  15. Definitely understand the business side of it because they need the 40 man spot and JJ just couldn't get guys out the 2nd half, but JJ was a guy I always rooted hard for. Sucks that he just couldn't get it done this year. Hope he turns it around and catches on somewhere.
  16. I see the official scorer saddled guerra with the win. Must not have felt Pomeranz pitched effectively enough to earn it.
  17. If you keep posting like this, youre going to get banned. You cant just post an opinion as fact and then say "everyone knows im right". Knock it off.
  18. As OSS said, reactions are different for everyone. I had TJ surgery a long long time ago (not in a galaxy far far away) and had vicodin prescribed for me. Once I decided I wasn't in pain enough to need the meds and tried to stop taking them, that was a monkey that was harder to kick than I expected. After a while, your body just expects it. I take anti-seizure meds now, and at one point my doctor tried to lower my dosage because it was messing with my ability to do my job properly, and after 3 days of a lower dosage, I was getting the shakes, I was sweating, my heart was pounding, and all this was from a non-narcotic, non opioid med. Someone else might not have this problem at all. Someone else might have it worse. I think this is all stuff that people academically are aware of, but I just think it bears repeating. Addiction is weird, and sometimes it creeps up on you. Yes, taking drugs is a personal choice, even necessary, prescribed drugs are a choice, but addiction is insidious. It happens before you're aware of it. It's like weight gain. You can suddenly step on a scale and be like "whoa, when did this happen?" And people say "well just don't eat, how did you not know you were gaining weight?" Instead of demonizing people and saying "just don't do drugs" I think it helps to understand the mechanics of how addiction happens.
  19. Got better as they got to the second quarter. He started horribly. It WAS the first quarter of the first game of the season, after all... I will say this... Coan threw almost 100 passes last year in live-game action, and has been preparing to be the starter. I get the "first game" stuff, but you have to be ready to play. It's not like the dude is a wet behind the ears freshman playing against Alabama.
  20. I think for one thing, Stearns has proven that he values positional flexibility. That's something that scooter really lacks. We can say that he might be able to play shortstop for a game here or there or outfield for a game here or there, but he really shouldn't be playing those positions in anything more than an emergency basis. Secondly, as everyone has been pointing out all season long, the team is very left-handed heavy and this wouldn't do anything to remedy that. Lastly, unlike a lot of us brewerfan posters, Stearns does not have any sentimental value towards players that are currently on his roster, let alone players that used to be on his roster. Everything he does is strictly utilitarian.
  21. I'd be good with bringing him back next year. His peripherals this year don't show that he's anything more than he's ever been, which is a pretty mediocre pitcher. 32 innings in a Brewers uniform where he's out-performed his secondary stats don't mean a hill of beans compared to 8 years of previous data. Again, I'm good with bringing him back on a one year deal. Let's see if the guy can be a solid 3-4 for an entire year. If he prices himself out of Milwaukee..... so be it.
  22. Game threads can go off the rails, and that's fine. If posters want to bring up certain players for extensions or trades in multiple threads, let's pop over to the rumors/proposals forum and start a thread there so we're not running multiple threads off the rails about the same thing in multiple forums. Thanks.
