  1. Listening to the pre-game and him mispronounce Spangenberg 3 times was teeth grindingly bad.
  2. Sept 8th and still playing meaningful games.. Lots of seasons we couldn't say that. With how many things that have gone utterly wrong, theyre still on the fringe.
  3. Thing is there really isn't separation between Yelich and Bellinger. Yelich has a slightly higher BA/OPS and some stolen bases, but Bellinger is a superior defender. B/R has Bellinger over Yelich 8.3 WAR to 7.0, and Fangraphs has Yelich over Bellinger 7.5 WAR to 7.3 I'm not saying that the MVP should be handed out based on WAR, but I just don't think that Yelich is clearly a superior player to Bellinger. If Yelich was still up in the 1.150 OPS range, I think this would be a different discussion, but he "slumped" with only a .939 OPS and 5 homeruns.
  4. I approve of this message! My profile picture is Eric Davis in case you can't tell since it can be hard to see . My 3 brothers and I used to play strat o matic draft leagues with the 87 set, and I always made sure I got Eric Davis first. He was an absolute monster in 87.
  5. My take is that we have the guys we have. Most of them are pretty mediocre to meh to decent, much like they have been for much of their careers or this year. As other posters have pointed out, you're very reactionary and quick to jump on the latest very small sample. Back in the mid 2000's the Brewers had a relief pitcher, Luis Vizcaino.... you might remember him. When his slider was WORKING, he was pretty tough to hit. When that thing had a late, sharp break on it, he was really tough to hit. The problem was, that you never knew from night to night if that slider was going to have that late sharp break or if it was going to just glide up there like a frisbee that batters could just mash all over the place. Kind of like Freddy Peralta. From night to night, you just don't know if his control will be there..... if his curveball is going to break, etc, etc. He's had 2 nice outings, and you're calling the guy "dominant". He's had a body of work this year that is not great. These guys are human. They're going to bounce around a lot. Freddy is young, and young guys are going to be really inconsistent. Freddy is what he is, a young, VERY inconsistent guy. Instead of trying to shoe-horn him into this "DOMINANT" box, just let's look at what he is, a young guy with great stuff who has the potential to maybe be something bigger. He might not. Same with Ray Black, or Pomeranz, or MOST of the guys in this pen.
  6. I should have put Peralta in the good as soon as it was apparent he had his control back, which was down in AAA. What you call reactionary, I call obvious. Suter the same thing, but for different reasons. Since he’s thrown his first pitch in rehab almost 6 weeks ago he’s been fantastic. Think I waited long enough. I believe it’s time for people to stop maligning this pitching staff. The pitching should now have shown itself to be the reason this team is still relevant, that, and Yelich. Kind of reminds me of last September. If we don’t make the playoffs, imo, it’ll be because we just don’t have the horses on offense, because of injury. Not because we can’t pitch. The pitching has been below league average for much of, if not the entire season, which it still is. Getting a few innings from Suter and Nelson doesn't change that. Just because your eye test and your daily updated rankings tell you we have a double decker bus full of bullpen aces doesn't make it so.
  7. Funny how when we say stuff like "We can't lose to the Marlins" or "we can't lose to this team, they started a sunday lineup", the Brewers started Spangenburg, Arcia, Shaw, and Gamel today, and the Cubs, a team I'm SURE their fans said "oh, we will for sure beat them today", lost to us. I hope our guys don't start looking at that easy schedule and taking it for granted.
  8. I don't think people are melting down. Just would like to treat today and tomorrow as must win games, because they are. These are, in essence, playoff games for us. Regardless of outcome we still probably won't make it but these 2 games have to be treated differently. Tie game in the 8th you have to at least be prepared for extras, I think. Junior isn't great, but he isn't NEARLY as bad as many have made him out to be.
  9. Eh. Back to even. And Shaw is out of the game. I call that a net win for the Brewers.
  10. Gamel might have a pretty pedestrian stat line but he seems to come up with some timely hits. Seems to.
  11. I'm not ok with anything that makes me look at any Cubs fan in a positive light.
  12. For all the complaints about the strike zone, that strike 3 to Spang was a beauty.
  13. Shaw......sigh. I hate it when people post stuff like "they're not even trying" or "they're not showing any heart", because there's no way for us to know these things.... but his facial expressions and body language REALLY look like he doesn't want to be playing baseball right now. Just looks really frustrated, and I just think dude needs to be shut down for the year.
  14. Year off doesn't seem to have had a huge impact on Cephus. I know it's Central Michigan, but whoof, just running right past guys and making it look easy out there.
  15. I would say that the absence of Khris Davis created a void that was filled by Christian Yelich. I would say 99 out of 100 people would prefer Yelich over Davis. Not saying this to be snarky, as everyone knows it, but moves don't exist in a vacuum. (Vaccum? SP
  16. I am pretty sure no one is suggesting that unless you are looking at the first couple of pages when the trade first happened in 2018. Well nobody has specifically said we got robbed, there are still people saying that this may or may not be a win for the Brewers, and there are people saying that we shouldn't have included Jordan Yamamoto. We have a league MVP player who has put up back-to-back 1000 Ops seasons. At this point people are grousing about the trade still just to do it.
  17. Yes considering neither of those were strikes. Davies is getting the same consideration.
  18. If Austin had to be plugged in the lineup, he should have been hitting 7th or 8th. I agree with this as well... But just look at our 5-8 tonight! lol What are you talking about? Spangenberg is a weapon!
  19. I was no joke just thinking out loud to my wife wondering how accurate the strike zone box was. There's already been a few that were just out called strikes I just think that we're looking at that box and going "What a garbage call that wasn't a strike" and then when they show the replays without the box... things look different. I'm not sold that the box the broadcasts use is 100% accurate. I think it's a neat thing but the outrage it makes sometimes isn't always justified.
  20. If Austin had to be plugged in the lineup, he should have been hitting 7th or 8th.
  21. I'm totally on board with going with electronic strike zones, but the fox pitch trax or whatever they use is not entirely always accurate, and it just adds fuel to a fan outrage fire unnecessarily at times. That strike 3 to Austin got the zone on replay, but the pitch trax showed it outside the zone.
  22. WHy is the playclock running out after a change of possession?
  23. Well. That looked a bit different than the first few drives, huh?
  24. replay was closer than the fox box made it look.
