  1. According to Brian and Davey, 2 line drive outs could potentially end Jean Segura's year + long slump.
  2. Come on, just completing full sentences is a chore for Davey, I don't expect him to know the difference between a hook and a slice.
  3. Why am I already getting knots in my stomach thinking about who's going to pitch the 8th inning?
  4. There needs to be some semblance of reason. When the SS has the ball and the runner is just getting around 3B, a reasonable coach would say "hey, we only have one out, I'm going to hold up here" We're just running wily-nily lately with no regard to situation.
  5. I hate Ed Sedar (as a coach, not as a person) with the fiery burning heat of 1000 suns.
  6. Braun is ON 3rd base when the shortstop gets the relay. WHAT In the world did he get sent for???
  7. Terrible pitch Yo. Good thing Davis was shaded towards center.
  8. Mench had 1 almost full season with an OPS over .834 in 2004 when he put up a .874 over 481 plate appearances. That was good for an OPS+ of 116. Braun's .834 OPS this year is good for a 130 OPS+ as it is markedly more difficult to hit now than it was ten years ago. Braun at his very worst following a month long slump is still signficantly better than Mench was at his very best. Braun's season at this point is certainly not "significantly better" than a season with 26 HR's and a .874 OPS. I probably should have more accurately stated that's a "great" year for Kevin Mench back in the day. Ok, so Mench's best year was marginally better than Ryan Braun's worst year. Which could be better if he heats up. Let's not forget Braun has been battling a thumb injury and an oblique injury, both of which will definitely impact how he swings the bat, and his power.
  9. I honestly don't think they will. There's just no interest. They've crossed 2 million in attendance twice. First year, and first year of the new park. There's just no excitement for that team. They have a lot of good, young, exciting players, and nobody cares.
  10. Four (4) outs on the bases really reduces your pitch count.
  11. Rickie either hesitates too long, or he goes without regard. He's not a guy I like to have on 3rd when we squeeze.
  12. I'll accept this. This is why I think there needs to be a distinction made between "dumb" outs on base, and "aggressive" outs on base. Braun was being aggressive and just barely got nailed. It's still frustrating, obviously, against a guy like Kershaw when you're letting him off the hook, but I do agree that there is a difference between aggressive baserunning and just plain stupid baserunning.
  13. Walking the pitcher to load that bases. That's frustrating.
  14. I'm willing to give Jimmie the pass on the baserunning gaff, as he's not on base all that much, but ugh... Man on 2nd with nobody out and the top of the order coming up, and we run right out of the inning. THat's really frustrating against a guy like Kershaw.
  15. Not to jinx it or anything, but a Brewers win today gives them the best record in the NL.
  16. I'm stumped as to why/how the Marlins got/spent money on a new stadium. Anyone that thought a new location/stadium was going to change their attendance whooaas had their head in the clouds. Same with the Rays. I know their joint is a dump, but come on, they have had like a bunch of 90 win seasons in a row (this one notwithstanding) and a WS appearance, and the fans more or less simply don't care. Brooklyn seems like a good place, though I'm sure the Yankees and Mets would fight that tooth and nail. Portland? Memphis? Nashville? Indianapolis? Something has to be better than anyplace in Florida.
  17. I'm starting to get the feels that the Braves (and probably the Reds) are not going to be impact players in the playoff race down the stretch. 6 teams for 5 spots.
  18. Wily is good, even really good at times, but he's not an ace. He's not even in the neighborhood of a Kershaw or a Wainright.
  19. so, we were told we needed an ace to compete in the playoffs. IN the past few weeks we beat Waino, Price, and Greinke. I guess we can put that myth to bed, right?
  20. Justin Turner should get credited with the pitching loss.
