  1. HOw......in the world do they come to that conclusion? He was out by almost a half a step. Whatever. We'll take it.
  2. Someone has to fall down in the OF for Rami to get a triple.
  3. Don't know if Luc would have had a chance to score on that......
  4. http://www.baseball-reference.com/players/r/rodrial01.shtml Ok, but Alex Rodriguez was a teenager with barely any professional experience, and was an elite defensive shortstop... Hahaha! I know, I know. I'm just not about to crucify the guy after 100 AB's. I'd be willing to bet he's a .275/25/75 guy next year.
  5. Talk to me a year from now. I think Taveras will be one of the best hitters in the National League, and I don't think it will take him very long to get there. Come on, Wily. Settle down, big guy. No more freebies. I know it's a tiny sample size but I don't know how many players have been so horrible to start their careers and ended up turning it around and living up to their prospect hype. Here's hoping he's Corey Patterson #2. http://www.baseball-reference.com/players/r/rodrial01.shtml
  6. Here's my issue with these stats. An "out on base", is an "out on base" whether it's an aggressive baserunner getting thrown out at home by 2 feet, or it's pure stupidity, such as Herrera leaning off of first, or two runners ending up on the same base. There's something to be said for being ultra-aggressive, and I do agree with that, but it does seem that a lot of our base running "outs on base" are of the "oh my freaking God, I can't believe he just did that" variety. Like you, I don't watch enough games from other teams to know what is a normal percentage of "being stupid" or "being aggressive" outs on base. If I had to guess, my eye test tells me the Brewers would have a higher percentage of "being stupid" outs on base. I'm sure you're going to tell me there's no difference, but I respectfully disagree. I like that sites like fangraphs and B-R are attempting to quantify more and more parts of the game, but baserunning is not the same as batting, which is easily quantifiable.
  7. Odds HAVE to be going up that Rami is getting plunked tonight.
  8. Thanks for not putting that in blue, we need to keep reminding posters of this fact. Currently 6th in MLB per fangraphs. Compared to other teams we make less mistakes and take more extra bases. Yeah, I didn't put it in blue, but it was totally sarcasm. I love Fangraphs, but the whole "the Brewers are aggressive and a good baserunning team....." Sorry. I'm not buying it.
  9. I know what the run expectancy is for a completely generic situation with 1st and 2nd with none out, and 2nd and 3rd and one out. What I want to know is what the run expectancy is when you specifically know you're bunting to allow the other team to walk someone to get TO THE PITCHER.
  10. This may be one of our few chances at a big inning against this goomba. Don't waste it.
  11. Last year they went 13 - 14 in August.
  12. I would totally approve of keeping Henderson. If his velocity is where they need it to be.
  13. If we miss the playoffs, you won't know one way or the other if it's because the Brewers didn't get someone else in a trade. And by the way, DM said that he made offers to other teams, including at least one "big" move (he even said the names of some teams), but nothing came to fruition. On Playstation, all your proposed trades are accepted.
  14. Like if one slipped to a .650-ish OPS? I lol'd, because that's more or less what I was thinking. I'll wait for the inevitable "but Lyle's been super clutch!" arguments, because there's no possible way his numbers with RISP this year could just be random noise in a small sample size. I know it's not happening, but if there's ANY. POSSIBLE. WAY. they could snag a 1B who's more productive than Lylrk Overnolds, they need to do it.
  15. Oh, I'm not saying we had a great big pile of shining diamonds to choose from, but moreso that maybe the situation we're in may make Doug (or already should have) forced him to think outside the box to man the 1st base position. I don't really want to go another year manning what's supposed to be a premium offensive position with crap.
  16. Dating all the way back to early last season. Once Hart was down for the year. Using ONLY at bats played by players who were playing AT 1st base (not 1st basemen being used as PH'ers, or playing other positions in the field), since the start of the 2013 season, the Brewers 1st basemen have put up an aggregate slash line of .214/.275/.375/.650 That's not bad. That's horrendous.
