  1. If he stays in the 2 spot in the lineup, I think 83 RBI in just over 100 games (especially with Braunie's injuries this year) is going to be a tall task. Not out of range, but would be a mean feat, for sure.
  2. I don't delve too much into trying to figure out specific counting stats for a guy, but I figured Davis could be a 25-30 homerun, .270/.330/.500/.830 guy, or thereabouts. I (like just about everyone, I assume) didn't expect him to be a .950 OPS guy like he was in his brief playing time last year, but I knew he wasn't the .650 OPS guy he had been through the first 6 weeks of the season.
  3. I'm not quite following you. Is there another time the Brewers have been doubled off due to the contact play? Perhaps there is, but I don't remember it. Also, of course Roenicke is covering for Herrera here, as the contact play should imply going as soon as it is obvious that the ball will hit the ground off of the bat. I recall times (not specific dates) when we ran the contact play and players got thrown out at home.
  4. Is someone warming? Can't take him out if you don't have someone warming up. (Well........obviously Roenicke proved that you CAN.....it's just not advisable)
  5. At this point, GM's know what Rickie Weeks is. Sending Gennett down for two weeks is not going to boost Weeks' value to any degree, real or imagined.
  6. Games won and lost in May count exactly as much as games won and lost in September, yes? Brewers got 100% lucky tonight. First, they blow a 5 run lead, then Machado put them back in the game with a 2 out, 9th inning error, and then Showalter Yosted his club by intentionally walking the winning run, with a historically decent hitting pitcher on deck. Whatever we debate about the importance of wins in May, or a single win (or 2 or 3) not costing them the playoffs, of the massive amounts of hyperbole getting thrown about in this thread, I think for tonight, we can all agree it's nice to be on the other side of a win like this for once, right?
  7. He also said that was the first time in his entire tenure here with us that the contact play has backfired on us. So I'm not sure he's actually caught the end of all our games. Thank you for making me literally, laugh out loud, in what has been a very roller coaster week as a Brewer fan. :D
  8. No single game is a season killer in May. THey can certainly be momentum killers for sure, but not a season killer.
  9. I feel the concern here too...but it's hard to tell. I just don't think he's healthy watching his swings. WOW!!!! Lucky break on the double clutch!!! Now let's go home winners! Right now Braun is an expensive decoy. His swings look so unnatural. If I'm Melvin I tell him that he needs to make a decision once and for all on the thumb. It's not fair to the Brewers to pay him all that money if he's going to play like this. Like what? Like the 4 - 5 game he had 3 days ago, with a double, and a triple, when he was a homer away from the cycle in his last 2 at bats?
  10. How many games can we completely blow this week before this thread isn't really 'tongue in cheek'?
  11. Slightly misleading, as they've played more games than several teams, and are 8th in runs per game. (middle of the pack, but still.....)
  12. I don't know that I'd call Gomez the best baserunner on the team. He's certain the fastest and most aggressive, but he makes a ton of outs on the basepaths. 37 since the beginning of 2010. Being fast and aggressive doesn't mean he's a 'good' baserunner, it just means he's fast. I'm not agreeing that he's a bad baserunner, but I think he makes more outs on the base paths than he ought to. We're still in May, and he's made 6 outs on the bases already this year. That's just too many.
  13. This one hurts to lose. This game belonged in the W column, for multiple reasons.
  14. As much as I want to win this game, I don't want Overbay doing anything productive that might earn him a longer stay of execution at this point.
  15. I LOVE having Braun hit 2. Maximize his at bats and his OBP. Every spot in the order you move a guy up, is roughly 18 more plate appearances he'll get in a season. More Braun = more runs.
  16. I like this lineup. I'm not a huge fan of Segura and his OBP at #1....but I've LONG been an advocate of Braun at #2, and Gomez plays well at the cleanup. Davis and Segura are both starting to hit a bit (Davis closing in on .700 OPS, and Siggy is over .300 OBP), so hopefully the run scoring WHOAAS are behind us. Sure wish Lohse had shown up today though. He's getting knocked around like a red-headed step child.
