  1. Given the criteria (and many of the players listed), it could be called "The Wall of Mediocrity" and be more apt.
  2. So basically, anyone that played what amounts to three full seasons as a Brewer. Ye gads...........
  3. Interesting game tonight. One thing I didn't like to see is Giannis only taking 3 field goal attempts in 42 minutes on the floor. I know he's raw, but he needs to get more involved when he's out there. Henson with another nice game. So, Henson, Knight and Giannis are getting good minutes and experience, and they're still managing to lose. Success on both ends!
  4. There's Christmas Vacation, and then there's everything else. But......there's those that I enjoy. Elf was when Will Ferrell was still really funny. He brought a youthful, boyish exuberance to the screen in that movie that he's never really matched before or since. Enjoy (still) all the Rankin/Bass Christmas shows from the 60's, despite the overt racism and sexism.
  5. At this point, let's be honest. The Bucks are a joke. Something needs to happen that creates a fundamental shift in how this franchise is operated to create something other than general apathy from the fanbase, or they SHOULD leave the state. The strategy of continually chasing the last playoff spot can work in basball. Wildcards can win the world series. Football has 4 team divisions, and as we see quite often, all you have to do is make the tourney and be the hot and healthy team when you're going in. Baltimore last year. Green Bay in 2010. And so it goes. These strategies DO NOT WORK in the NBA. You absolutely have to be one of the top 2-3 talented teams here. You can't just create a mid-tier team of talent and hope for a miracle. Nope. Nope nope nope. Kohl is completely out of touch with his fanbase, and it shows. Attendance is brutal. Nobody cares about this team. Read message boards. Lots of people, not everybody, but lots of people say "go ahead and leave". How sad is it that it's gotten so bad that people don't say "I don't watch the NBA" but "Go ahead and leave"? Something has to change.......or that's exactly what they should do.
  6. Glad to see the Bucks righted the ship last night.
  7. http://espn.go.com/mlb/story/_/id/10116177/rick-reilly-torre-la-russa-cox Boom
  8. The ESPN article said that catchers would not be allowed to block the plate.
  9. The comments on the ESPN boards are hilarious. "The pussification of American sports continues" "May as well put skirts on everyone" "Put it on a tee" "They get paid enough to deal with the injuries" I don't think people understand what concussions do to a person........I really honestly don't. Jim McMahon can go 5 minutes without remembering where he is, or forgetting why he's on an airplane, or having trouble remembering his girlfriend's name. No matter how much these guys make, there's no way that making it less dangerous for the participants is a bad thing, ever. Initially, I was hesitant to see this rule change, but the more the guys like Matheny came forward and said "we need to do this"....the more I got on board with it.
  10. While I agree that the main basis should be the playing record........... 5. Voting: Voting shall be based upon the player's record, playing ability, integrity, sportsmanship, character, and contributions to the team(s) on which the player played. That does specifically mention that integrity sportsmanship and character are part of the criteria. I know this is an old debate, but Ty Cobb and Cap Anson don't have an ounce of integrity, sportsmanship, or character between them. Actually, it's two old debates: (1) is juicing worse than exacerbating the color line / throwing the 1919 Series / drunken physical abuse / whatever, and (2) should the fact that old guys lack a qualification cause us to overlook that missing qualification in new guys. I don't have a great answer to either question. What I do believe, strongly, is that we do ourselves a disservice if we think those character standards actually have any relationship to the population of the Hall of Fame. They don't. There are more than a few utter scumbags in the Hall of Fame -- with Tony LaRussa the latest and one of the worst -- and the sooner we realize that talent for hitting or throwing a baseball has zero relationship to being a good human being, the better off we all are. I don't disagree with any of that. HOWEVER, the CURRENT guys who are voting have drawn their line in the sand using that standard, and until something changes, the current PED guys aren't getting in because of it.

  12. If James Loney is our 1B next year I will projectile vomit, swear at everyone in my house, punch holes in every wall, and then become a fan of the Red Sox. Fin'
  13. A lot of people want to put Jack Morris in the hall for one outstanding game (7). Aside from that, he was an extremely average, durable pitcher.
  14. Terrible job of tanking tonight. Of course the Bulls are brutally short handed and Henson had a really really good game. Mayo did his best to short-circuit the winning effort but Henson was just too much to overcome.
  15. Correct. However, a Gomez trade now coupled with a Winter Meetings Gallardo and Lohse deal, followed by a mid-season Ryan Braun trade, assuming he is the old Braun, could arguably have them in the top 10. I don't think anyone would argue that. You're talking about trading 4 guys though........not one. Also, I just don't see it happening. There's nothing in Doug Melvin's tenure that has happened that leads me to believe he'll go into full-scale sell mode. He's getting near the end of his rope, and going into a full-blown rebuild isn't going to happen under his watch, and he knows it.
  16. One trade will not turn the Brewers from a low 20's farm to a top 5 farm. There's absolutely no way.
  17. All they're doing is quoting that same blogger. That doesn't really make it multiple sources.
  18. Good deal for Texas, depending on how much money they get back. Makes me happy, because it can end the talk of Prince coming back to MIL.
  19. As long as none of those 5 teams are the Milwaukee Brewers, that's all that matters. He can go be mediocre for anyone else. Mediocre? You're giving him WAY too much credit.
  20. I have no idea how to respond to the Badgers dropping triple digits in regulation, much less Kaminsky putting up FORTY-THREE on only 19 shots. Hopefully a few of my snarky facebook friends from Minnesota can shut it about Wisconsin's offense. At least for a little while.
  21. I had been enjoying this season.......the walkers had become the main threat again, from both inside and the out. Suddenly switching to the Governor storyline feels oddly disjointed and strangely timed, if anything. He's already been so established as a horrendously 'cardboard' character in the tv show that I really don't care about what he's been doing, or his backstory, or whatever. Maybe he wasn't that way in the comic, but I don't read it, so I don't have that reference to go off of. Get back to hordes of zombies trying to overwhelm the prison.
  22. Massive thunder this morning in Janesville.
  23. Cripple an already bare farm system to bring back an overpriced, aging, bad-bodied first baseman. Wow. No. Even if the Tigers throw 68 million in there, leaving the Brewers on the hook for 100 million over 7, this would be a terrible deal. If this is what people want........just throw a decent, incentive laden deal at Hart for a year or two, and see if he bites. That way you don't have to commit huge dollars for seven years, and trade the farm as well.
  24. 2007, Jimmy Rollins won it, with an .875 OPS, and a 119 OPS + That being said, Cutch's 158 OPS+ is the same as Braun's in his MVP year of 2011, and fairly comparable to most of the recent winners. Anything over 150 for OPS+ is pretty much an "MVP type" season, at least offensively, and while McCutcheon's Dwar wasn't eye popping this year (1.0), it certainly wasn't bad, or bad enough to discount him from an MVP caliber season.
