  1. It's not that uncommon for rookie pitchers to do well the first time around, because advance scouting on them is spotty at best. He knows what he can throw, the opposing team most likely does not. Chris Saenz shut down the Cards last year in his MLB debut, if anyone remembers.
  2. Wow, Ned puts Durrington in (presumably to steal) and Brady flies out on the first pitch. Nice Brady. Good fundamentals.
  3. Just when I thought this team was done losing games this way.
  4. Call this a knee jerk reaction, whatever. That guy needs to be CUT.
  5. i love yost executing 1-run strategy when we're down by 2! -- Yup. I was thinking the exact same thing myself.
  6. our entire teams baserunning = pathetic.
  7. ey Bill! Hey Darron! There is a game going on. I know you find your bits more important but... I want to see if they can go the whole inning without acknowledging the game.
  8. Wow, play a little deeper Jenks! He plays back so far he was able to camp at the wall!
  9. Wouldn't it be nice if we could trust our color commentator to fill us in on stuff like that? Yeah, unfortunately, the subtleties seem lost on this person. Sutton did say he thought it was a cutter that didn't break as far as it was supposed to, but that's not exactly HIS job to point that out.
  10. We should be throwing pitches to Lee that are nothing but low and away. If he swings fine, if not let him walk I think the previous inning showed that walking guys aren't exactly the thing Davis wants to be doing. Granted, you don't like giving up HR's, but Lee's going to homer less often than a walk comes around to score.
  11. I don't think he's "pitching" to Lee. I'm fairly certain that was a mistake pitch.
  12. Overbay hit .310, with a 1.019 OPS in April. He hit .280 with an .877 OPS in May. He's hitting .253 with a .687 OPS in June. How far is this slide going to go? And will Doug have the sense to trade him for something of value before it's too late? He's hurting the team as much as Jenkins right now, if not moreso.
  13. Believe me, I help mod a site that has a "fake cash" feature that's used for this and that, and the amount of useless post padding crap we deal with is pretty bad. I know that Brian already said "no" on that one, but I'd have to add another (and emphatic) BAD IDEA here.
  14. Either way, Hall is kicking ass and all his detractors can shut it. And that's the bottom line, because Stone Cold er........Scoop said so. http://www.briansmale.com/Images/steveaustin450.jpg
  15. Someone explain to me why Corey Hart can't come PH instead of Magruder . . . ? Hart is a lot better served playing everday in AAA rather than rotting on the bench in Milwaukee for the sole purpose of not having to play Magruder 2-3 times a week.
  16. I hope everyone who thinks you can just move people around the field defensively and think they can play at a decent level are watching this, and get an understanding of how IMPORTANT defense actually is.
  17. Yeesh. Bill Hall's gonna have to win this game single-handedly.
  18. Perhaps... but Helms seems to have the work ethic to become a decent catcher with a solid bat, not just a good hitter who wears the tools of ignorance. Based on what, the fact that he worked out a half hour a day 3 times a week in the off-season? Learning to catch isn't something any Jo-Schmo can pick up, or most teams wouldn't be sporting backup catchers who hit below .175. It'd be super great if you could just slap some gear on a guy, give him a funny glove and say "catch, call the game, block pitches, throw out base stealers, coach your pitchers, learn all the batters in the league" so on, and so forth, but it's just not that simple.
  19. JJ!!!!!!!! Better send him down, he's struggling!
  20. I think Daron has been hanging around Bill for too long. He is now suprised anytime anyone doesn't pitch around anyone in any situation They're both surprised that they gave Lee anything to hit with 2 outs and no one on............
  21. So much for that.http://forum.brewerfan.net/images/smilies/smile.gif Homer by Helms and now a double by Magruder And a Walk from Hardy. Wolf doesn't look too terrible sharp tonight. Wes has played himself back to semi-respectability.........now if he could just field............
  22. The conventional baseball wisdom of refusing to use a closer unless it's a SAVE SITUATION is, I'm sorry to say, stupid. Wise was clearly struggling with his control, Turnbow had just warmed up, and Yost left him in there, to throw a meatball to end the game.
  23. The entire site has been un-accessible to me all day, up til now.
  24. Wow, Kent and Drew just walked away knowing they got abused by Santos . . . They returned the favor. Who else is not surprised that a rook carrying a +7 ERA making his first ever ML start is shutting us down with almost no effort? Anyone?
  25. 8 games into the season, and we're ready to send Hardy down? Let's let him build up something of a viable sample size before we call him a failure just yet.
