  1. Geez.....people a bit touchy today are they? I made a lame stab at humor, due to a seemingly constant state of having 2-3 guys unavailable who are not DL'd, and I'm getting fragged for it.
  2. I guess it wasn't blatantly obvious I was being sarcastic?
  3. Doug's 3.99 ERA is quite nice, all things considered, but you can't live with this many runners on a game to game basis and get away with it consistently. and actually, I think considering the timeline, someone who is hurt for 2 weeks and not DL'd should said to have been "Kolb-ed". But that doesn't really roll off the tongue now, does it?
  4. So is Grieve going to be day-to-day for 3 weeks and not be put on the DL like Spivey?
  5. 66-9 K/BB ratio is bordering on videogame-like numbers. Looks like Sheets really is stepping up to be one of the top starters in the league.
  6. Those last 2 AB's were just sick. Nice to see Ben step up and become a high K pitcher, even if that's not necessary for success, it's just nice to see.
  7. Estrada is starting to make that Millwood trade look at least a little bit justifiable. Nice job Ben. Let's get some runs early here.
  8. Brad's SLG% is .546. I'd say as long as he's hitting that prolifically, the strikeouts are no more than a minor concern.
  9. We lose. 18-18. Can't get any lasting momentum going. That's going to happen when you have a pitching staff like we do though. It sure would be nice to get 3-4-5 games over .500 for a little while.
  10. I don't know Bill. I do know that I'm getting rather tired of watching Ned bring in Bennet almost exclusively when there's guys in scoring position.
  11. Ned is positioning us for the 2006 draft. You just watch.
  12. Fun game to be at. (Yes, Roco went to a game) The atmosphere was AWESOME all night long, til Viz melted down and Yost forgot how to manage. I can honestly say that I overheard SEVERAL people questioning just about every move Yost made from the mid-8th on. Yost has a serious man-crush on Trent Durrington, I don't know, winning is apparently not as important as his bench buddy getting the 1st ab every game off the bench.
  13. Nice win today. 18-16 looks pretty darn nice at this stage. One question. Is EVERY soft tossing lefty we get who throws 4-5 nice starts going to labelled "a Jamie Moyer type"?? Why can't Doug Davis just be Doug Davis, for crying out loud?
  14. Mike, I'd agree that using Brooks there is a bit of a waste. It seems they almost exclusively use him when he'd be at least the tying run, which makes sense. I still think however, that Hall or Clark is a better choice than the anemic Durrington. Like you said, this is where we simply agree to disagree.
  15. Like some have said. Rickie is standing over the plate and leaning into pitches. Retaliation (especially at lower levels, where guys control isn't the best) is silly, petty, and most of all, dangerous. The best way to get back........score the runner.
  16. A few of our Huntsville posters have chimed in, as I recall, that Rickie does indeed lean in on inside pitches, much like Fernando Vina and Craig Biggio do. I can't possibly fathom retaliation pitching when a guy is TRYING to get hit with a pitch. Not to mention that it's petty, and proves nothing.
  17. Just because they won doesn't mean EVERY MOVE Ned made was the right one. If he uses Vizcy in the 9th, the game never goes to extra innings. I know, hind-sight is 20-20, but I just can't go all roses and puppies and say that Ned is perfect, when he's clearly not.
  18. Yost's favorites THIS year...... Helms Durrington J. Bennet WHY?
  19. 2ND GUESS ALERT AHEAD!!!!! No, I don't think all is ok when the right buttons are pushed. I think this makes even MORE glaring the decision to use Bennet in the top of the 9th. Go ahead, rip away.
  20. POOOOOOOOODS!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! GOOOOOOOOOOOOO!!!!!!!
  21. BROOOOOOOOOOOOOOOKS!!!!!!!!!!!! STILL ALIVE.
  22. Funny enough, a few nights ago Sutton's exact words about Ginter were, and I quote.........."he's so VERY hard to strike out" Does he have a single clue?
