  1. I wonder how long his .220-ish batting average is going to be justified because he runs hard and knows how to bunt? Not that Bill Hall is lighting up the box score when he plays either......
  2. Greg, the Cards are ALL working the count well and fouling off a ton of pitches against Kinney.
  3. 10 pitch inning. Nice. Pray for a miracle in the 6th inning.
  4. Again, I know it's a small sample, but Yost's treatment of Ginter is bordering on ludicrous. Back to work for Kinney. I think I speak for everyone when I say I'd like to see a quick 10-11 pitch inning right here.
  5. Watching the game, I can honestly say that the Cards SEEM to be spoiling some decent pitches. This doesn't bode well for Kinney going too much deeper into this game. I'd just as soon see Kinney come out after 5 if he's tiring, and see Kieschnik pick up the slack for a few innings than force Kinney out there to get shelled in the 6th like we all know will happen.
  6. I have been under the impression that Kinney can't work out of trouble?
  7. Bleah. Matheny, again. Kills us all the dang time.
  8. Grieve swinging away early in the count? Kinney looking sharp in the early going? WHAT'S going on here?
  9. Nice 1st for Kinney. Saw he hit 94 on the gun once. Think he's pretty jacked up to be getting another start?
  10. Worth it? For the sake of humor alone? I wonder.........
  11. Greg, funny stuff man! I'm actually hoping that Kinney continues to get absolutely lit up until Capuano is healthy, and he's then finally removed from the rotation, or better yet, just cut. Why? you ask? So we can stop reading in every freaking thread how terrible Kinney is, and how Doug Davis and Wes Obermueller are simply victims of repeated bad luck.
  12. Pre-game prediction of Kinney's line tonight........ 6 IP, 9 hits, 4 K's, 3 Walks, 2 homers, 6 Earned runs. He's pitching 6 I'd wager unless he's absolutely getting ripped a new one.
  13. No, that 32 LOB is for each batter. So, if the lead off guy gets on, and EACH of the 3 batters that follow him don't knock him in, that counts as THREE left of base. Kind of a misleading statistic.
  14. Officially on the Keith Ginter bandwagon since April 21st, 2004.
  15. That play by Grieve was just terrible. My 9 year old son probably has more range (and a better throwing arm). Watching the game on tv, I too heard a smattering of boos when Richie came to the plate last night. Some people are just not happy if they aren't pissed or angry about something.
  16. I predict you'll suffer at least a dozen losing posts before your next successful effort. I don't know frog, my take on the ganja debate over in off topic (posts #1994 and 1995) were both pretty solid efforts!
  17. Pushing 70 posts before the game even starts. What a thread! I have come to believe that telling someone to "lighten up" will only make them more uptight, hence, I'm never going to tell someone to lighten up or chill out, ever again.
  18. Robert, I hate to lump guys together for comparison sakes, as I generally feel it's unfair to say "player X's career took this path, so player Z's expected path should be the same" But, I look at Rusch last year, and he was "not awful" before last year, and look what happened. I'm not saying I EXPECT Doug Davis to be that terrible, but I wouldn't be extremely shocked, either, because it DOES happen to guys. Unfortunately, they are almost always Brewers when it happens to them.
  19. Capuano has given up 5 homers in 13 innings. I don't care what the other stats say, that's gonna catch up with a guy. How his ERA is under 4 is beyond me at this point. Davis has surrendered 4 long balls in only 16 innings, to go along with his ugly 5.97 ERA and 1.62 WHIP. Sheets is the ONLY guy who's shown much of anything so far, as I don't count Oby's 7 shutout innings against a Bonds-less Giants in too high a regard, considering what they have outside of the Bonds. If our starting pitching doesn't improve on these numbers, it's going to be ugly-Ugly-UGLY this year.
  20. Hopefully once they get out on the grass today, the offense will smoke some line drives, and the defense can take some hits away from the D'backs.
  21. OK, I've been away all day, and didn't hear what happened to Caps, what's up? I see in the box score Oby got hammered. (Sigh)........ Starting pitching is not looking good right now. Sheets, sore back, Caps hurt, Oby and Kinney not pitching well at all........
  22. I understand your point Bill, but doesn't it get more complicated if Brady Clark continues to outshine Grieve in every way imaginable? I myself said I didn't want to see Clark get any more than 200 at bats this year, but if he's the best option we have, then so be it.
  23. I'm going to start a new poll. The question will be. What % of the game threads when Matt Kinney starts will Clancy pimp Wayne Franklin in? How long will the argument rage on?
  24. If Brady continues to swing a hot bat, Grieves days on the lineup card are numbered. If Brady plays well enough, no reason to bring up Hart before September and start his service time.
  25. Just as we think Viz is doing ok, he needs 38 pitches to get 2 outs (while giving up 4 runs) Talk about taking one on the chin. Burba continues to pitch well out of the pen. (Hey, gotta take SOMETHING positive from this game.)
