  1. If one of their catchers was named Mauer, and they were an AL team, I could see it.
  2. "Lopez's past salaries have no bearing on FA arbitration cases. Its all about comparables. Lopez put up a season comparable to Brian Roberts who just signed for $10m per last offseason. And going to arby versus Boras for a guy who you have penciled in as a backup?" Exactly. There is no way Lopez would have turned that down, he's not going to be able to get that on the FA market this year. Melvin made the right move in all of these arby cases. Does anyone know exactly how many free agents HAVE signed with a team so far this off season? I have no idea, but I bet you could count them on one hand. Everyone is sitting back waiting for the one big free agent to sign then everyone else will fall into line. Isn't that the way it goes every year? It's going to be even more so this year with everyone using the economy as an excuse for everything. Have patience people. Take your mind off of it and com'on down to the Mecca (US Cellular Center) and watch some college hoops!! http://forum.brewerfan.net/images/smilies/smile.gif
  3. I use Baseball-Reference.com for my baseball, football, and hockey leagues. It has a park factors calculation.
  4. Why did he only choose to go back 10 games for Lincecum? Lincecum in the last three months of the season (16 starts). 9-7, 111 IP, 2.59 ERA, 129 K. In his 7 losses, the Giants scored 1, 2, 5, 2, 1, 2, 0, for a total of 13 runs. In the game they scored 5 runs, he left after 7 with a 5-3 lead, giving up just 2 ER. Giants ended up loosing that game, 10-5. Reds scored 2 in the 8th and 5 in the 9th.
  5. He was fine all summer. Tweaked his back in the last two or so months. They don't expect him to play 'till January. Back injuries are a tough thing to predict. I would be nice to have Tone out there right now, but they have a lot of guards to put in there. Patrick Souter from Racine has been a big surprise. Redshirt Freshman who looks like he's determined to be the starting PG for the next three years (when Ricky leaves after this year).
  6. If you missed it, it will be on again this Monday at 10am. Set your DVR.
  7. Panthers should finish Top 3 in conference this year and make the NIT at least. $10 gets you a good seat. Com'on down to the Mecca. Butler will be very good again. Should make the Sweet 16. If they get a good matchup and the ball bounces their way, the Final Four is not out of the question. There's my bold pre-season prediction.
  8. By removing Hardy and Cam's salary and freeing up that money, didn't they essentially just trade for some pitching?
  9. A professional athlete smokes pot. Wow. Who really cares? They give football players harder drugs to get them on the field on Sunday's. Non-story here. Move on.
  10. The celebration after Fielder's game winning HR. You know the one I'm talking about.
  11. Couldn't have happened to a better team. Hey the Crew still has the most playoff wins of any Division team in, what was it, the last 3 or 4 years.
  12. Can anyone please explain to us any possible reason behind playing a 39-year old in front of a young 20-something prospect?
  13. Who the hell is that guy? And what did he do with the real Jason Kendall?
  14. You have got to be kidding me. Did that just happen? Wow!
  15. I changed my plans so I'll be going tonight with my 3-year old Daughter and tomorrow with my Dad. I sure hope Escobar is playing in at least one of these games. Otherwise it will be a very disappointing weekend. Where do you sit "Buckylovesbeer"?
  16. I see it now. Don't know how I missed it before. Anyone want these?
  17. I didn't know where to put this. I thought there used to be a buy-sell-trade section here. I have two tickets I'm not going to use for Saturday. Sec 215, Row 16. They are $36 seats. I'll take the best offer.
  18. I think Melvin has done a decent job. These things killed them this year: Injury to Weeks Injuries to Suppan and Bush Hardy forgetting how to hit Parra forgetting how to pitch I would guess he was hoping for a scenario like last year. Stay in it 'till the All-Star Break, then make a big trade to get a #1 Starter. There was/is not a lot of room for error with this starting staff. When you loose three of them, and don't have much sitting in AAA, that's a lot to overcome. Even if those three are of the #3 to #6 type starters, you would hope to get by with them 'till you can add that extra arm, considering what you have (or thought you had) on offense. Didn't work out this year. "Well he should have got some more pitching last off season." 1) Who was available for what they could afford? 2) That player still has to WANT to come to Milwaukee.
  19. Weeks would be a terrible CF. I've heard either Melvin or other scouts say this, maybe both. I don't remember where. Plus he was looking pretty good at 2B, why mess with him again. The Brewers will not move him to CF. So we all need to just move on from this, it's not going to happen. Braun in CF, no thanks. Cam makes him look better than he is. Hart can't play CF either. I sat in RF for about 25 games last year. He gets a terrible jump on the ball. He doesn't seem to read the ball coming off the bat very well at all. While Cam seems to take a step in the right direction before the ball is even hit. They should bring Cameron back. He is 7th in the majors, 5th in the NL, in OPS, and brings a well above average glove. I personally hope Cam retires in a Brewer uniform. Plus they don't have a major league ready CF prospect right now. There is more to playing CF than just being quick or fast.
  20. I don't believe it, Gamel, Escobar, and Rivera, all in the lineup at the same time. I'll believe it when I hear it from Uke, announcing they are actually on the field in the 1st inning.
  21. So for that spectacular play and two hits, including the game winner, Escobar gets set back on the bench. I don't care about the Lefty/Righty stuff with Dumpster on the mound. Could Braun be sitting because Dumpster intentially threw at his head in their last meeting, here at Miller Park? Then, Braun hit a HR in the very next AB, and was saying something to Dumpster on his way around the bases. Macha might not want to revisit that.
  22. Like him or hate him, Yost at least seemed to understand the value of playing the kids when you are out of the playoff race.
  23. +1 I can't believe we are still talking about this. So they all fell down, when the big guy jumped on the plate, instead of all piling on him, possibly injuring someone. So what, big deal. Like it or not, all sports these days have celebrations of some sort. But baseball players have to be held to a higher standard than the rest of the professional athletes? Why? Because "that's the way it's always been", because it's not "respecting the game", or "because it shows up the other team". I'm so sick of hearing those last two terms. Times change, the game has changed, the players have changed. That's just the way it is.
