  1. I didn't notice any boos. It's probably a good thing for Billy this is not a weekend game. Edit: I did after he K'd.
  2. Yeah, Escobar has been on fire lately. Didn't Powell talk about that a little in the pregame show on Sunday? I think the Brewers, and everyone else for that matter, realize Escobar isn't going to be all that special on offense. But they do think he can be one of the best, if not THE best defensive shortstop in all of baseball.
  3. Define who "they" is in your question. Do you mean why don't "they" use it during the game as a graphic (either on TV or at the park) when the player is up to bat? If so, I'd guess only the real "geeks", like most of us on this message board, would care or even understand what it means. The average fan, which is the majority of fans, wouldn't care enough to find out what the stat means.
  4. Did Arizona have a LOOGY available to bring in? Yeah, the one that gave up the GW HR to Prince. http://forum.brewerfan.net/images/smilies/smile.gif
  5. If we're still taking about Hart or Braun in CF... If you have to pick one, I'd put Hart there. I wouldn't want to move Braun to yet another new position. Let the guy finally get comfortable at one position. Plus Hart has played some CF before and didn't do too bad out there. I agree with the LF Braun, CF Hart, RF LaPorta outfield, with Gwynn in San Diego.
  6. A 50% K rate for Branyan might have something to do with it. Errors can happen when you put the ball in play. Did the Brewers get lucky that Reynolds threw it away? Absolutely. But, you can get lucky on groundballs, not on strikeouts. Also Kapler has proven he can deliver in those situations. It was not for defense. It was a double switch. Hardy made the last out in the 8th inning, so he was the one to be replaced this time. The pitchers spot was due up 2nd in the bottom of the 9th had it come to that.
  7. Man, Randy Johnson is still good. Cameron is 2-27 with 16 K's against Johnson in his career, that's just funny. Small sample size or not, sounds like a good night to give Kapler a start, even thou he hasn't faired much better either, but his sample size is much smaller. http://forum.brewerfan.net/images/smilies/smile.gif Anyway, how about that pitching matchup tonight? A future HOFer against, well, Seth McClung.
  8. I think the 2008 Cubs are better than the 2007 Cubs, and I am not sure that the 2007 Brewers are worse than this year's Brewers. Would you say the 2008 cubs are a better team than the 2007 Mets? I'm not counting on a cubs collapse, but anything can happen. Especially with 10 head-to-head games left and 7 of them at Miller Park.
  9. The bottom line is the pen has been more effective since Gagne went down. Well to be fair, couldn't you say this has more to do with the starting pitching going longer in games, rather than Gagne going down.
  10. I'm not ready to give up on catching the ScRubs. Anything can happen. The Crew is still only 6.5 games back, with 10 head-to-head games left with them. I'm sure they'll be thinking, "We win X in a row, and we're still only up 6.5 games on Milwaukee?!?!? What do we have to do?"
  11. One thing I don't get is those who are saying the Brewers can't trade Hall because if someone gets hurt they need a replacement. Bill Hall is that guy?? Have you looked at his stat sheet? He is the anti-production. The problem is there is no one to put out there if something does happen. So the alternative to anti-production is no-production at all. You're looking at Counsell starting everyday if Hardy or Weeks should happen to go down, then Dillon as a backup at all four infield positions. Yuck!
  12. Yeah, I think any "controversy" is over, for now. Torres is going to have a stretch where he blows some saves thou, every closer does. What happens then?
  13. If I have to pick one, I pick Hardy for now, then Escobar in late 2009, or at least by 2010.
  14. Keep Hall unless he becomes disgruntled, because then he's just bad for the locker room. But I don't think it will come to that. OR if someone is stupid enough to give you a legit #3 SP for Hall and Gwynn. Then you hope Branyan/Dillon can hold down the fort. On second thought, I don't like the idea of trading Hall during the season.
  15. That was the joke. The guy doesn't need a third piece of pie either. http://forum.brewerfan.net/images/smilies/smile.gif
  16. But I REALLY REALLY like the TGJ in CF JMO, but I believe what many people like is the idea of Gwynn in CF, being something close to what his father was. I mean, he does look the part. He's fast, good glove, slap hitter, small like a traditional "leadoff hitter", he has the name, the genes if you will, but...he is not his Dad. He is a career 4th OF, or maybe a starter on a poor team. Which isn't going to be a bad career for the guy. Let the Padres find that out.
  17. I wouldn't expect very many (if any) boos tonight. Edit: Even boos directed towards Yost, I don't expect to hear much of. It's a Monday. The drunk boo birds normally only come out for the Friday and Saturday games.
  18. Yes, Yost said in the pregame talk with Uke yesterday that Billy would be back in there today and tomorrow against the LHP's.
  19. By only playing against RHP, I would expect Branyon to have a real chance at crushing his lifetime BA by 30 or 40 points. I did not look at his career splits at all before making that statement.
  20. I'm not trying to be an ass, but I'm wondering what Williams you're talking about here.
  21. As long as they're winning and not taking off their pants, who cares. Do whatever the heck you want.
  22. I predict the Crew will be within 4.5 games of the ScRubs by the end of June. Going further down the road...2 games out when the ScRubs come to Miller park for 4 at the end of July, a tied Central Divison when they leave.
  23. 1. Hank Aaron 2. Paul Molitor 3+. Everyone else P.S. Yes I'm biased.
  24. Superstar of the future with excellent genes was the exact quote. That's just comical.
