  1. I'm not a fan of moving one of your best hitters 4 spots down in the lineup either. All that was really done was flipping Hart and Weeks. Why? Weeks takes more pitches and walks more. Hart doesn't. I'd rather have the guy that is going to take a walk in front of Morgan and Braun, than McGehee and whoever bats 7th. I suppose you could say that's because Weeks has been leading off. Hart still has times where he reverts back to not being able to lay off that low outside slider. I don't know, whatever. I wouldn't expect much tonight anyway. Rockies have their best pitcher this year on the mound. Also, I think part of the reason for not putting Morgan first is because you have a R - L - R - L - R lineup with the way it is.
  2. (Maybe this has already been said, but have to get back to work. Don't have time to read thru 11 pages right now.) Is anyone else concerned over his 1.406 WHIP and 9.3 H/9? Quote WAR all you want, but those are the first two stats I like to look at for pitchers and those really aren't that good. Not saying I don't like the trade, just hoping he can improve on those numbers, and revert back to his 2010 form.
  3. Best part of the HR Derby? That ESPY's commercial with BJ Raji. LOL !!!
  4. I agree with "dlk9s". I almost think the season depends on the upcoming road trip. If they can come out of that still in first place they will win the division. If they are a game or two out, they can still take it. If they tank and end up behind the Cards, Reds, and Pirates. It's going to be very, very, very tough. And, I wouldn't put money on their chances.
  5. No question in my mind. Keep it for the money. But I would try to sell it back to the player or the team. Don't care what team or player it was. I could do a lot of good with $250k, while it's basically walking around money to MLB. Pay off my house. Put some away for my kids college. Help out my sister with her medical issues/bills. It wouldn't last very long, that's for sure.
  6. "Is RR managing the game today? I'm pretty sure this is how a pen is supposed to be used." Yep, sure looks like it. Maybe he has learned from past mistakes. It's a good sign at least.
  7. Not only do they have Hawkins in there, but Braddock and Saito are getting ready/already ready in the pen. Cool !!!
  8. WOW. You have got to be kidding me. Glad the Crew is in the lead now, but that probably just bought Casey another month.
  9. I would have liked to see Gamel at 1B, just to see how he looks there, but more importantly, let's hope he continues his recent hot streak and takes advantage of that short porch in RF. Greinke, this is the type of game you're here to win. Show us that "Cy Young stuff" tonight. http://forum.brewerfan.net/images/smilies/smile.gif I kind of like Lucroy in the 9 spot. Gives you someone there who can turn the lineup over for one of the best leadoff hitters in the game right now. Go Crew!!
  10. Hey, I thought the old man didn't have it anymore. http://forum.brewerfan.net/images/smilies/smile.gif
  11. He has always looked like that hasn't he? At least for as long as I can remember. I think it's just his way of calming himself down and not letting the game situation get him too high or too low. I have to disagree that he doesn't put ANY good swings on the ball. And he is still an above average defender at 2B, 3B, and SS, on a team with starters at two of those positions (3B, SS) that are average at best. He still serves a very useful role on a MLB roster. Yes, I like Counsell, and not just because he's the same age as me.
  12. I didn't know he went to Texas. Really? Is his agent a complete idiot? He had his client go to a team that has their SS position locked up for probably the next 15 years? Maybe they were hoping Texas could do for him, what they did for Andrus? Course, Andrus wasn't in the minors for very long. Wow. Some bad representation there. Time to fire your agent, kid.
  13. If I were a Cubs fan, I'd probably be calling for this guy to be fired. 8-1 in the 5th, and he's complaining about a SB. Sounds to me like he's already given up on that game.
  14. To hell with whatever metric is the "sexy" one of the day that says he is the worst player in the history of baseball. He's a Brewer right now, so ... Go YB !!
  15. Cool, still picture, right there of Gomez. However, Bill forgot to point out one thing, and it's why I think Gomez will never be a good hitter, only a lucky one. Look where his head and eyes are when he makes contact. The good/great hitters... their head and eyes are right down there, watching the bat hit the ball. Their nose is pointing right at contact. And it usually stays there as they follow thru. Same with hitting a golf ball.
  16. I hope Lucroy develops as the everyday catcher and improves at the plate. Take a look at these stats. (Player: PAs, BA / OBP / SLG) Player 1: 490 PAs, .256 / .318 / .297 Player 2: 297 PAs, .253 / .300 / .329 Guess who these players are. Answer (highlight to see names) Player 1: 2010 - Jason Kendall Player 2: 2010 - Jonathan Lucroy
  17. There is no way you put Weeks after Braun and Fielder. Keep Weeks, his baserunning ability, and OBP in front of those guys. Hart is fast, but still doesn't have the OBP to bat 1st or 2nd if you're moving Weeks down to 5. Plus Weeks looks like one of the Brewers best hitters now, I want him getting as many ABs as possible.
  18. GO DAWGS !!!
  19. "Not impressed with Butler at all." Really? What do they have to do, go to another Final Four? They are now 8-1 in the last two tournaments. (Only one other team can say that right now.) Butler is a very good and very well coached team. Madison wasn't hitting shots last night, but credit must be given to Butler having a hand in their face on almost every shot taken. I don't think those Badger kids were ready for just how physical the Dawgs play. Bo knew it was coming, I don't think his players believed him. I'm not saying they don't see it in the Big Ten. I'm saying they didn't expect the same type of play from little 'ol Butler.
  20. There are still about 500 tickets available for tonight at the Mecca. Still time to get yours. Come on down.
  21. I have a great idea. Forget about today's Badger blowout, come on down and support the Panthers on Tuesday night!! http://forum.brewerfan.net/images/smilies/smile.gif
  22. Tuesday Night: The Mecca. 8:00pm ESPN Milwaukee Panthers. Butler Bulldogs.
  23. Games are set. Saturday Night: 5:00pm 2) Butler vs 3) Cleveland State 7:30pm 1) Milwaukee vs 4) Valparasio ESPNU That Butler/Cleveland State game should be a good one to watch, if the refs let the kids play. But if we have refs that call every little foul, Cleveland State doesn't have a chance, they don't have much of a bench. Can Norris Cole continue to carry that Cleveland State team on his back? Tuesday Night: (hopefully) 8:00pm Milwaukee vs Butler ESPN
  24. Hey anything can happen this time of year. Go Luther College Norse!!!
