  1. Was really good (as in 3.03 ERA when he led the league in losses). Did he have injury problems?
  2. Gatewood, Ray, and Stokes warrant mulligans due to injury.
  3. Thor was arby eligible LAST year as a super 2. He avoided arbitration both last year and this year by signing before it came before the panel. '20 and '21 are his last 2 arby eligible years. He will command more than the Brewers are willing to give up (I hope). I'd guess the starting point would be Peralta and Burnes and Turang. For me to even consider that, the Mets would have to be offering Thor and McNeil
  4. Agreed. Some prospects (Turang, Grisham, Ashby, Rasmussen, Supak) would require a king's ransom of sorts in return.
  5. Thor is not arby-eligible until after 2020, and hits free agency after 2022. He is 26, but this year has seen a bit of a regression, with ERA up over 1.60 from previous years. I'd offer Orlando Arcia, Freddy Peralta, Marcos Diplan, and Caden Lemons. Then, try to get Thor to sign a 6-year, $84 million extension. ($12 million bonus, $12 million per year)
  6. Players that are selected as All-Stars but can’t play in the game due to injury are still All-Stars. Players that are selected as injury replacements are All-Stars as well. Pretty simple. I don't think these facts are what he's questioning. I think he's pretty much saying that you don't really get credit for another all-star because one of yours sits out and is then replaced by another one of yours. I don't really care to be honest, but I get his point. We had 4 players picked/elected to the ASG and one come in as an injury replacement. Now we just need Burnes to figure things out and put it all together like Woodruff has. That could easily be our #1 and #2 pitcher the next 4-5 years. They're both capable of being really good #2 starters. I think that'll happen... Woodruff did the AAA/MLB shuttle a couple of years.
  7. Well, to date - here's where I was right: 1. Yelich is contending for the Triple Crown again. 2. Hader, Yelich. Grandal, and Moustakas are the four All-Stars for the Crew initially - and I called all of them. 3. Moose hitting like 2017. 4. Woodruff is proving to be a good pitcher - and I didn't expect him to make the ASG. Where I was wrong: 1. Burnes. Wow. 2. Kimbrel. Didn't think he'd go to the [bLEEP]ing Cubs. 3. Nelson. Maybe trying to make him come back as a starter was a mistake.
  8. It was much better than the egg laid by the USMNT against Mexico. You know, after looking at how the USWNT has done compared to the USMNT, I just can't support equal pay. With four World Cup championships, and four Olympic Gold Medals, the USWNT has posted such performance that they deserve higher pay than the USMNT.
  9. It worked out pretty good last year #optimism Cubs were up by 2.5 games last year... How did that work out for them? Now they're only up by .5 game, and the Crew has a better team. I like the odds...
  10. I can live with that... as long as Dubon gets some outfield work in.
  11. Ditto. This team is hanging in there with a bunch of injuries and folks who slumped. Shaw and Aguilar are returning to their normals. Hiura and Dubon will be better than Perez and Saladino. Then Gio is coming back soon. It is the Cubs, not us, who should worry.
  12. Aguilar is back in the swing of things, it looks like. So is Shaw in AAA... Options may abound...
  13. Again, he was taken out because there was a rain delay. It was the smart move. Crappy luck for the Brewers and Anderson, but sometimes it just happens. Can't do much about the rain unless you have a retractable roof or a dome... Counsell was in a bad spot NOT of his making... made the best call he could.
  14. Dubon's going to bring a needed skill set - he's got a high-average bat, and his power has taken a HUGE jump this year.
  15. Stokes only hitting .213, but 11 doubles, 6 homers, and he's put up a .325 OBP with 26 walks in 178 ABs. Injury's knocked him down a little this season...
  16. Arcia apparently is all right... Good to hear that after that collision.
  17. What I remember is the Dodgers (& likely the Brewers & other interested teams) discussing trade scenarios with the Orioles leading up to the deadline. Based on Machado being traded to Los Angeles it would seem as though Baltimore thought they offered the best prospects of the interested clubs. The amateur market (where the prospects came from) already is capped with controlled spending. I guess what I am struggling to understand is how not having a cap on MLB salaries prevented us from trading prospects for Manny Machado? Or maybe the prospect package Baltimore wanted for Machado was too rich for the Crew, given that Machado was a short-term rental. Three months of Machado would not have been worth a package that would have started at Burnes and Hiura.
  18. How much do we regret the Garrett Cooper trade now? I'd liked him a lot - imagine him with the Crew this year instead of Aguilar.
  19. If Dubon is being called up, then Arcia's injury is serious enough to put him on the DL. I hope Arcia recovers quickly. I hope Dubon is good enough to make the team's middle infield decisions very difficult. I think he will be... I think his defense isn't as good, but he has hit over .300 more often than not in the minors, especially in recent years.
  20. Umm... four runs in 2/3 of an inning is really bad.
  21. Yes it is. Williams said in future games article he actually hit 100mph for the first time in a game a few weeks ago. He is definitely a power arm who can now just max out due to switch to bullpen. Glad he is healthy & thriving! The Crew could sure use Devin this year...
  22. The baby seal that became my wallet had a better day when he met that Canadian fisherman than Deolis Guerra had last night.
  23. Could the Mayor of DDC be getting back in shape? Good news, if true... I always felt he'd turn it around - he was still drawing lots of walks. Dubon really turning up the power... maybe it is time to think about dealing Arcia to make space for him. And Trent Grisham... he is breaking out while Ray and Stokes have been losing this year to injuries and not getting on track - Stokes at least is keeping the OBP skills. That ability never slumps.
  24. Regression for Aguilar would be a good thing. He wasn't a .205 hitter who flails away. The real Aguilar is probably the 2017 iteration.
  25. Glad he is still with the Crew.
