    I'm the exact opposite. Can't stand the word "pop" to describe a Coke/Pepsi. A soda is something you drink. Pop is what happens when you poke a ballon with something sharp. I agree, it's soda. I always tell people "Pop" is the guy who married Mom. In Madison, it's called a drinking fountain. I hate that. BUBBLER!! They discussed the shorts thing on KQ radio years ago when I lived in the Cities. Many people called in and said that, like myself, they'd wear shorts all year if people would simply accept that fact. But, due to the social interaction, they stopped wearing them in the cold. I used to walk the dog late at night in shorts despite cold and snow. If you're ever here in Madison, I'm the guy wearing the shorts. I don't recall one snowfall last year where I didn't shovel in shorts. Whenever I go somewhere (groceries, etc.) in the winter, there's a good chance I've got shorts on. I've heard a few people comment....so what, I'm comfortable this way and not looking to please Joe Public. I'm a big guy and generally, I am warm. I wish the climate was 68 degrees year round, it would be perfect for me.

    Corey Thurman deserves some props, coming back from surgery and all. I hope we resign him - he could help the big league team at some point next year. Proving that his arm is healthy, I think he's definitely worthy of being brought back. I've been wondering about this all year, especially when we were leery of rushing the younger pitchers (Jackson, Villanueva), but do you think Thurman was ever given consideration for a spot start in Milwaukee? He had pitched in the majors with Toronto, has been great for Huntsville and given his advanced age (27), I was curious if he was even thought of. Maybe even as a reliever?

    EDIT: From the WTMJ web site: "Newsradio 620 WTMJ is your Green Bay Packers flagship. The Packers open the preseason tonight in San Diego. Packers Gameday starts at 6 this evening on Newsradio 620 WTMJ." ... but it doesn't say where that moves the Brewers to. GRRRR. Just awful, but I'm biased.

    These morons should be banned from talking about it until it reaches a minimum of 44 games. For what it's worth, the guys on the Mets broadcast said Utley isn't talking about it with the media.

    Now 5-4 Cincy, top 9. Giles leads off Atlanta 9th with a single vs. Guardado. EDIT-Now Renteria doubles off the wall. 2nd and 3rd for Atlanta with no outs. Andruw Jones being intentionally walked. Bases loaded no outs for the Braves, with McCann due up. McCann pops out to SS. Francouer is now up. Ridiculous. Francouer goes down 5-4-3, game over. Reds win. Bases juiced, no one out and they can't score with the #4 and #5 hitters in their lineup.

    Damn, went to a Madison Mallards game tonight and I'm hammered. My first game ever at Warner Park that I didn't play in and what a deal. Local ESPN Radio had a promotion: Ticket, 2 hot dogs, 2 beers for $10.70. So before I could even cash in my ticket stub for my free beers, the opponent's designated strikeout batter struck out. That means 1/2 price beer, or 2-for-1. We ordered 4 beers for $5. Even better, the Great Dane Brewery has a Thursday special where they tap about 4 kegs and the beer is free until it runs out. I had about 15 5oz. beers before game time. Talk about a drinking man's special! Not only free beer and great deals, but it was college night and there were so many beautiful co-eds running around. I can't believe I've never done this before.

    Utley gets to 34 on an 8th inning AB. He chopped to the pitcher who looked a runner back and Utley beat the throw to 1st. EDIT-Official scorer pulled the hit back and is reviewing the play. Interesting. EDIT again- It appears they have re-credited Utley with a hit. Oh, the drama.
