  1. Are post-interview thank you letters still a thing? I've been a hiring manager for a couple of years and I don't think I've ever had a candidate send me one post interview. I've been looking for work myself and have sent an email to the HR person who coordinated my interviews and have asked them to pass along to the interview group. It just seems like check the box formality and a thing of the past. Do any of you send one post-interview?
  2. That "Children of Children" solo at the end is killer.
  3. I grew up in Green Bay and really like Jake's Pizza. My parents say it isn't the same since they re-opened on Broadway, but I like it. We ate a lot of Aldo's Pizza growing up and I see they're still going in Green Bay. Also delicious up Green Bay way is Wild Tomato in Door County. I saw someone else mentioned it, I also loved Luigi's in River Falls when I went to school there. Blue Moon in Lake Mills is very good pizza. The hours are weird, they're only occasionally open for dine-in. In the Madison area, Salvatore's is fantastic.
  4. It's not good.
  5. Sturgill Simpson and Jason Isbell are "next level" stuff. Simpson is really pushing the boundaries of country music and Isbell is one of the finest songwriters in any genre.
  6. I had two interviews in Oct./Nov. for a professional position with a Fortune 500 company. At the second interview, I asked and was told to expect to hear something back around the end of November, start of December. They were unsure of when they would make an offer, since they said there was still a final approval needed from corporate headquarters. But they had told me they HOPED to have the person start in mid-December. I've heard nothing from them since my second interview. At this point, I would have expected to have either gotten an offer or a letter telling me they hired another candidate. I know there was some uncertainty about when they would be able to actually make offers, so it's a possibility they just haven't gotten an okay to make an offer. I felt I really nailed both interviews and made good connections with both people I interviewed with, sent them thank you notes, etc. In essence, I think I did everything right, and now I'm kind of bewildered with the extended silence. My question is this: I have email contacts for both people I interviewed with. Would it be appropriate to contact one or both of them to ask what the status of the position is? If so, would I contact the higher up who initially interviewed me, or the second person, who would be the direct manager of the position I interviewed for? How would I go about following up?
