  1. Ya, I agree with rluzinski about people who are in a fit that the talent on this team is not what we thought it was, and its time to rebuild, etc, that is overreacting IMO for sure. I believe this team is loaded with talent still, yes it has holes, but any team has holes, you overcome those holes. They are however playing with no fire that I've seen and have yet to play good baseball this season for any sustained period of time. That is what scares me and I don't think being afraid of that is overreacting. It feels like we've been waiting for a month and a half for them to turn the corner, following a whole second half last year that we were just waiting for them to turn the corner.
  2. The difference with those numbers is that the Rockies ended the year on an absolute tear, and the Mets fell apart to help out the Phillies, who were also playing very well. We can't assume that kind of luck right at the end. Those situations aren't easily replicated.
  3. Wow, that pitch wasn't even near him. Good to know Richie is still slow as molasses. It felt like it took him an hour to get out there.
  4. Ya, if August in the current reasoning, I don't want to see what January/February is going to look like around here! :D Thanks for the kind words everyone and all the best to RyDogg and drezdn!
  5. Typicall Ned style aloof answer. This guy is just not a leader.
  6. I have something else to freak out about, that my wife delivered twins on Saturday night! Fortunately the Brewers losing streak started on Friday night, or I'd have to have some words with the boys! They were 33 weeks along at the time, so they're still in the NICU but they're actually doing very well and progressing fine at the moment. And all this hospital time has kept me from seeing to much of this horrible baseball too! Avery is not happy to hear about another Brewer's loss; http://farm3.static.flickr.com/2405/2473303577_406c661c02.jpg?v=0 Elliot would pull his hair out if he could; http://farm4.static.flickr.com/3099/2475163450_1842306b15.jpg?v=0
  7. HAHAHA, that's cracking me up to no end man. I would have posted what Point Beer is Best posted as well. Someone else pointed that out to me awhile ago.
  8. Also, I'm not trying to be a downer, I'm really glad to hear the great time everyone else had, I'm glad it was a good event. Just wish I could have been able to participate.
  9. Ya, that sucks. My rep told me he wouldn't have the balls until today.
  10. Ya, I'm still disappointed that I drew Villy. I didn't go out. I'm really still pretty upset by that, I had been looking forward to this event for months. What a huge let down. I emailed my ticket rep about my disappointment, to which I got a reply that he understood, but there was no way they would know who would be pitching that day when they got the players months in advance. Wow, gee, thanks for that! I responded that I understood that, but they should have perhaps not scheduled two starting pitchers for this event because of that, and I never heard a response. Very disappointed all around.
  11. The umpiring has just seemed horrible this year so far. Ball and strikes are all over the place. It was amazing in that Reds game where Bako got kicked out. The last 4 innings of that game everyone was just throwing to that low/away spot knowing they'd get the call on an unhittable ball. Everyone knew they were getting cheap calls, but the ump refused to change at that point. Also, that's the second hosing the Braves have gotten by the umps this year that I'm aware of. They had some real big mess in a game with the Mets this year.
  12. I wouldn't mind all the odd shots around the park, except that it feels like they do it between every pitch, and sometimes during. If someone isn't at the park, they don't really need to see a close up of the "Watch for flying bats and ball" warning sign. I've grown so annoyed with their production that even Brian Anderson is starting to grate on me, with his constant repeating of what happened earlier or yesterday.
  13. I've always remembered a game I was at in May 1996. Smoltz against the Cubbies. 4 hit shutout with 13ks. And I believe he even had an rbi that game.
  14. http://nbcsports.msnbc.com/id/24263779/ Smoltzie has been one of my favorite players in baseball for a long long time. Very happy to see him set another milestone. Congrats Smoltzie!
  15. As our hitting finally starts coming around, our bullpen disappears. You just can't have it all can you? And the balls and strikes have killed us this year. Umps are all over the place.
  16. Ya, I don't think it can be called the most important ever, but I do agree that even I felt a big relief seeing that one fly out. And not because I was worried about Prince really, it just seemed to feel like turning a corner. We shall see I guess.
  17. I got my letter in the mail yesterday. I got Villy, which was disappointing some as I was really hoping for Hart. What will really take the fun out of it though is that Carlos should be scheduled to pitch that day, in which case the letter says, I can just pick up the ball at the event. Blah.
  18. I don't disagree with that sentiment, but it doesn't mean I think Ned should have thrown in the towel on the game like it appeared he was doing either.
  19. It was what, 4-1 when he came in? Granted we weren't swinging well at all yesterday, but a 3 run lead shouldn't be game over either. I'm quite curious how long Yost would have kept him out there last night if he didn't get that ground ball finally.
  20. For me it's only frustrating to find out so early that it looks like we're going to be prone to being extremely streaky again this year. I'm not worried about them individually, as they're hitters, but this damn team wide streakiness. Hart seems the only one who's not prone to it.
  21. NSBB seems to believe its going to be a DL stint.
  22. Soriano's hop has annoyed me since I noticed it last year, and yes, I've always considered it a bit of a hot dog thing.
  23. I don't think I can justify spending money on these right now, but boy do I want too. Nice collection!
  24. I agree with the general tone so far, that I'll answer questions people have, but stay away from opinion stuff normally. On Opening Day, I did tell the guy a couple of rows in front of me to stop trying to start the wave why we were batting. That was more out of frustration of it being the first game and that problem already arising.
  25. These fans are just crazy. Full Story
