  1. Whenever this topic comes up, I'm always amazed how many people think being booed by 30,000 people should be something that is easily ignored and/or easily shrugged off. Simply amazing. I guess I'd feel different if we booed things that were actually insulting or offensive, but we boo simply because we're disappointed as if baseball players execute perfectly every time they're on the mound or at the plate. They're human and they make mistakes, they don't succeed every time, and they react negatively when 30,000 people think they have the superiority to pound on them for every mistake they make. I'd like to think its a problem of bandwagon fans who have no patience because they're only at the park because the team is winning, but by the number of people here who always think they players need to just take it, I don't think I can. As it stands its just something that makes us look bad and I'm often embarrassed whenever I'm at the park and people are booing just because Gagne is coming in, or Bill Hall is coming to bat. Every time this comes up, someone points out, "we gave Prince a standing ovation when he 0 for whatever" and that's great, but I have zero faith that we'd see that kind of class and support out of the fans of today. If you're going to support your team, support your freaking team. The booing is acting much more like a 3 year old than the players are by pointing it out.
  2. To be positive, at least we didn't have to see Hall strike out with Hart at third.
  3. FSN doing a great job getting back from commercial tonight. They come back to a 1-1 count? And they came back just in time to see Prince's HBP.
  4. I'm pretty sure Jenks is still on the DL, so he doesn't stand much for odds of coming and hurting us.
  5. It's okay kiwi brewer, I pretty sure everyone can see you're involved with untuckem, you don't have to keep posting as if you're not.
  6. So TH has a blog post stating this; "closer Salomon Torres brashly proclaimed that the reeling Brewers still would catch the Cubs." Trouble is, I don't see that quote anywhere, not even from TH. The guys over at NSBB have picked up this post and started to run with it, which I'm sure will be a quality thread about the Torres and the Brewers. (No disrespect to NSBB, they're generally a quality board, the comment is about the type of comments I expect in that specific thread.) The only quotes I see from Torres after last night's game are; JS Blog Brewers.com Does anyone have the quote? I don't see Torres say anything brash, in fact, I respect everything he said. He's always seemed very grounded to me, and it seems like he's going to be bashed for something he didn't actually say, rather TH did. Am I wrong?
  7. He had flown in for the start of the San Diego series I believe. Maybe it was the Pirates, but I believe it was San Diego. One way or the other, I had read he had come in for a game last week.
  8. My thoughts exactly. It's a bad stretch, but seriously, there's no reason to believe we will play like this for 3 more weeks. Everyone seems to think we're going to go get swept by the Phillies and the Cubs, come on, have some faith in the team you've invested a whole summer in. Maybe we do get swept, but I doubt it. You go through streaks like this, we've done it before this season and half of the board was ready to throw in the towel and sell off the team. The Cubs are streaking horribly too, do you honestly think they should be panicking right now? A lot of the fanbase is, but its even less justified than everyone here panicking.
  9. I'm also the camp that is curious if he has lingering issues from his earlier elbow problems this year. He performed fairly well before that point, but he's just all over the place now.
  10. Exactly. Baseball is a streaky sport and the Brewers have often proven they're highly prone to streaking. When we're off, we're really off, even embarrassingly off, but they've responded well all season after going through these slumps. If the Phillies and the Cubs were tearing it up right now, I'd feel different, but as it stands, we're not losing any real ground right now. I think we have a good chance at getting hot at the right time. Maybe I'm fooling myself, but that's how I see it.
  11. Do you have any stats to back that up? I can see maybe a tenth or two tenths of a second tolerance with hand timing. That said, even with that tolerance on the favorable side, Weeks and Braun were only just as fast as Hardy. Being as objective as possible. I see no numbers that back up your claim, but I'd gladly eat my words if you could produce them. It's always seemed very obvious to me that JJ isn't a fast runner. But if you need some stats to take a look, stolen bases seems a pretty obvious stat to use. Of the everyday starters, JJ has the fewest stolen bases this season, with 2. Last year he had, 2. In his career he has...5. And he's been caught 5 times. Heck, Prince has over double the career stolen bases as JJ.
  12. Some perspective. Records since August 1, in order of best record as of today; 22 - 09 / Rays 17 - 14 / Angels 20 - 11 / Cubs 21 - 09 / Red Sox 20 - 11 / Brewers 21 - 11 / Mets 18 - 13 / White Sox 17 - 15 / Twins 17 - 15 / Phillies 16 - 16 / Yankees 14 - 15 / Cardinals 24 - 09 / Astros Losing 4 in a row is never fun, but the wheels are hardly coming off. I'd rather get our slump in now, and hope to be picking it back up for the stretch. Its the opposite of when the Cubs came into town, we had been blistering hot and lucky before that, it was bound to even out and it evened out hard. But we have the same record as the Cubs since that time, and we're hanging with, or winning more, than all of the other top teams.
  13. Ya, I was at the game as well, and discussed pinch hitting for Prince in the 9th. We came to the decision that the crowd would never understand that move, after they brought in a lefty to face Prince, and would boo worse than they did for Gagne.
  14. We could have/should have won both of these games against the Mets. I'd be maybe worried if we had gotten embarrassed the way the Cubs embarrassed us. I'm very confident in our ability to actually win the wildcard this season, and I see no reason to be hitting the panic button right now because we lost two games. I spy NSBB and I can't believe how many posters are panicking over there either. Could we lose it still? Sure, obviously. Do we have issues? Sure, obviously. But there's no reason in my mind to panic right now. Have some faith.
  15. Listen to Brewers official scorer Tim O'Driscoll's take on the questionable infield hit that CC Sabathia allowed on Sunday.
  16. We've got 6 outs to make up 2 runs on an ugly Mets bullpen. All is not lost.
  17. There are always a lot of Mets fans for some reason. I go to that series every year because a good friend of mine is a big Mets fan, and every year there seems a high percentage of Mets fans.
  18. In better news, the Nationals are beating up on the Phillies today. I think I'm going to like the Phillies being in second for the WC. They take 2 of 3 from the Cubs and then get beat up by the Nationals.
  19. 2 big Ks for Wright today. Thank you David Wright.
  20. Of course not. I'm just astounded you don't have a MLB job already... I don't know if this will get me in trouble or not, but you're seriously the closest thing this board has to a troll. It seems the only times I notice your posts, is because all you do is point people out with snide comments like this. It is completely unnecessary.
  21. Shouse is a LOOGY? That's the first I've ever heard of that. I can't fault Ned for not realizing that all season.
  22. Good thing that Cameron sac put us in position for the balk run. Eesh.
  23. To be fair, nobody is really complaining that the Cubs have more home games, as much as asking and giving reasonable answers and suggestions. But to your other point, we have/had 9 home versus 6 away with Houston and Pittsburgh this year, while playing 9 in St. Louis and 6 at home.
  24. It sounds like Carlos and Ned are taking some fault for the situation. I'm not sure I saw Carlos point into their dugout, but I do think he shouted in that direction. Was it necessarily into their dugout? I'm not sure. St. Louis sure is doing a lot of complaining about us this year though and I'm starting to like beating them more than the Cubs. Anyone have the video?
