  1. Best of luck! Always good to get out of a negative situation.
  2. Well there goes some the seniority argument for placement. This is my 4th year being a ticket holder, and I've been in 126 since day one, but I got bumped to 211 for the playoffs. Weird.
  3. You could put a broom with a glove behind home plate and it would be a huge upgrade over Estrada. To be fair, Johnny would win in that foot race. But just barely. I thought it was pretty funny when the Astros IBBed Kendall to get to CC the other night. CC has more homers than Kendall on the year! http://forum.brewerfan.net/images/smilies/wink.gif
  4. I'm positive Uecker still does Hardware Hank. I've listened to more games on the radio this year than I ever have, and I know I'm hearing that one.
  5. Your account number is the same all of the time, so if you have your account number, just go to page from the email and have it reset your password for you and punch it into that page. I logged into that ticket panel earlier in the year, and the same info worked for me now to see my tickets. Hawing, mine doesn't show the WS online either. My seats are in 211 for the playoffs. My 20 pack is in 126. Last year I was still on the first level, but just barely. These are probably better seats than last year, considering location I suppose. I think I got put into 107 last year, which is a brutal angle.
  6. They are. Let me know if you can use them.
  7. I have 2 tickets that I can't use for tonight, and I'd hate to see them go to waste. I don't know how many people can try to claim them on this short notice, so I've opened this up outside the board too. First come, first served. I'm in Whitefish Bay if you want to pick them up otherwise I think I can transfer them to will call. (I've never tried that before, but I believe I can.) Section 126 with a preferred parking pass.
  8. They don't automatically drop the points, sometimes its reduced points. It all depends on the severity of the ticket. For instance, they will announce, if you were going 5-10 miles over, we will call your ticket a faulty odometer and drop the points. If you're 11-15 miles over, its something else and 2 points. I don't remember what it was specifically. I know mine I was going 9 over and I got the faulty odometer and no points. As to why they do it, my assumption has always been to move people through the court system faster. If everyone wanted to get in front of the judge and plead a case for a reduced penalty, the courts would be way more full than they are now. It'd be a nightmare. I don't believe for a second that when my insurance sees a faulty odometer on my record, that they don't realize it was a reduced speeding ticket.
  9. I can say that when I was there last year, they did specifically mention that ticket as a really important thing to do as there had been some pretty serious injuries to police officers in recent years. I don't know if a lot of people realize this is the law, but I have noticed an abundance of signs on the road informing people to do this in recent months.
  10. Extras in terms of, if I forget to take my trash to the curb, they come around and get it, that never happened in the past. I know my one neighbor NEVER takes his trash out front, but they always go get it for him. I've never abused this, but I've talked to others who have told me of the things they've been able to get away with putting in the trash that the garbage men aren't supposed to take away. I don't necessarily tip them for the extra service, but rather because, my life would be a lot harder without them doing their job all year long. A small tip once a year doesn't seem to much to ask then. I typically give them $20 gift cards to Pick'n'Save. That's about a 38¢ a week tip.
  11. You're burning up the email waves. http://forum.brewerfan.net/images/smilies/wink.gif Good to know, thanks.
  12. That's a fair question about the subs. For the garabe guys, I'd never really know, but seeing as after I started tipping them, I was able to notice extras in my service, I know they got it. As for the postman, I know his name, so it's easy to address the card to him. As for the thank you card, I thought the same thing about it just being stuck in the mailbox with no postage, but I noticed that it was actually supplied by the Post Office for that purpose. I forget what it was, but there was something on it that made me realize that it was an "official" thank you card to use, so the issues with no postage were obviously worked out in a manner that was lawful.
  13. I think this is on a very specific case by case basis. When I got a speeding ticket last year, I started receiving offers from all kinds of attorneys to go to court and "fight for me". When I went in, 99% of those attorneys did nothing different than I would have been able to do myself, other than they got to do it first. They all come in and have a special section to sit in. The court workers all knew them by name, handed them their cases, and 99% of them that morning settled out the exact same way as what everyone sitting in court was offered. I don't know what those guys cost, but it wouldn't be worth hiring them in most cases from what I saw. Obviously Teatoe993's situation was different if it progressed to actually having the policewoman on the stand, but if you're not going that deep into the process, they don't gain you any extra advantage other than being there to file it on your behalf.
  14. If you go in, they'll announce at the beginning of the day what you'll be offered. I had a speeding ticket last summer. The fine wasn't reduced, but they classified it as a faulty odometer and reduced the points, so my insurance wasn't effected. When you have to plead, you can say, "not guilty" which you do to proceed to a jury trial, or you can plead guilty or no contest. The no contest thing I thought was funny to me, because it is supposed to mean, you're not saying if you're guilty or not, but you're willing to take the punishment. When I went in, I was the only one who had the fortitude to actually go up there and say guilty instead of no contest.
  15. I've worked in a few places that had counter tip jars, and I never saw that happen. Doesn't mean it doesn't, but I wouldn't think its common. I had a friend who worked at Starbucks and she said that money was pooled and divided equally amoungst the counter people at the end of the week. That's about the only time I've ever heard of management messing with that cash.
  16. I delivered for PJ's Subs when I was in college. Before that I thought tipping a delivery guy was about the stupidest thing ever. It takes doing it to appreciate it. Like others have said, you do know who your good tippers are, and that gets reflected back by your order getting priority. The distance thing is funny, because I would have a few customers who literally were a block, sometimes 2 away, and they would never tip. Seriously, if you're to lazy to walk the block to get your own food, you need to tip the person who does bring it to you. Those people always annoyed me. Delivery driving is a crapshoot of a job. I had some fights with lazy workers in the kitchen if I would come back from a run and orders weren't ready to go back out and it wasn't busy instore. Some of them never seemed to understand that they effected my income by doing that, and that I was the one who would have to hear it from the customer because I was the one in front o them. Conversely, on really big orders, or really busy days, I was pretty much the only driver who would give some of my tips back to the people making the sandwiches. Side note to the other drivers in this thread: have you had any of those stereotypical delivery guy moments, where people play with you? I used to have a lady in Riverwest who would always come to the door in an overshirt, with nothing underneath and she would always bend over and put her food down. Other delivery guys knew exactly who I was talking about back in the day about her. Sometimes that stuff really does happen! There are a few more examples I have, but their bigger stories. Tipping Garbage Men, Postal Workers, etc. : I didn't start doing this until 2 or 3 years ago. I had never really considered it before, but I can say, you notice a service difference if you do it, at least for the garbage guys. I typically just give them a gift card. There are laws for postal workers about what they can accept (no cash, nothing over $20 in value). I just tape it to my mailbox with his name on it. This year I handed it to him. The garbage guys are trickier, I've just put the a Christmas card in a ziploc and put that ontop of the garbage can. Kind of weird, but it works.
  17. The irony is, with all the repeating of the marketing slogans, that all the advertising is working if its stuck so well into so many people's heads in this thread. Drat! http://forum.brewerfan.net/images/smilies/wink.gif I do hate the over advertised world we live in now, but I do understand the necessary evil portion of it as well. Advertising is unavoidable, much as we may hate it sometimes, and much as we've become much more savvy about avoiding it.
  18. In a well managed situation, I think you're not off base, however, based on Tom posting, "So, I'm sure they will appeciate this new policy as well" about his bosses, I don't think it was handled much at all. It appears highly likely that Tom was forwarded the email with perhaps some sort of message from his superiors about his behavior and Tom reacted in the blog, which created an even bigger firestorm. As someone who has recently been in close to ties to two different situations where superiors had to be involved, there are vast differences in how well management does their job.
  19. I take it this was in a personal email exchange with the two of you? That response is more revealing than anything else, in my opinion. That reeks of taking absolutely no responsibility on his own part and believing he didn't do anything wrong to warrant Adam's complaint, nor anything wrong after. Amazing. I think its unfortunate as well that Adam is becoming the lone complainer in the blog comments and is being assailed for it, when he's obviously not the only one to have ever sent in a complaint about TH's behavior on the blog. I typically avoided the comment section of that blog, and that thread is a shining example as to why.
  20. I was prepared for his statements to be much worse based on the description. He's not off base in what he said. If the streak didn't start the day after the dugout issue, nobody probably talks about it nationally.
  21. I have a hard time calling it a mistake. This is not the first time he's acted like this. He now has, I believe, 4 increasingly insulting messages in that blog post alone. I don't read TH outside of the blog, or the JS, so I can't really comment on the quality of the reporting, but I do think its ridiculious that he is allowed to treat customers that way. Yes, there are people who are mean-spirited to him in the comments, but he looks no better in stooping to that level. I can't imagine the JS would be willing to interview someone who interacts that way with people, but they allow someone on their staff to do it.
  22. I would think it would be pretty easy to back door your way into 4 playof seats by purchasing two different 20 packs. I know someone who attempted that this year, and it was for the sole intention of being able to get 4 playoff seats. The way the language is now, I would think it works that way. I suppose it depends on if the Brewers write down as 2 20 packs or 1 40 pack. I suppose the question there would be for someone like hawing, of your 40 games, do you pick 2 seats for this game, 2 seats for another, and sometimes 4 for the same game? If they let you split them up like that, I would have to think it is being treated as 4 separate seats. I started with a 9 pack 4 years ago, and even back then you weren't offered a WS ticket. I know last year they gave 9 pack holders a chance to upgrade to 20 packs for that very reason. But I think they did that before the All-Star break and it seems obvious they didn't do that this year, no doubt due to the surge in 20 packs in the off season.
  23. TH's second reply in that blog post is full on insulting. He essentially trolls on his own blog entries. Class act.
  24. Here is the quote that was referenced in the beginning of this thread. It was misunderstood for sure.
  25. Wasn't there an issue with Tejada a few years ago where the Orioles tried to do a waiver wire deal with him and someone else tried to fill that waiver, so they had to pull him back?
