  1. We had to keep Kotsay and Reed. Cruz left because he was likely sure there was nothing he could do to get back. He had a good season in AAA last year, killed the ball in winter play and had a very good spring and still Reed makes the team over him.
  2. Right, despite how bad his on base skills and average are Betancourt's power actually makes him slightly above average for a SS with the bat (assuming he's not as bad as he was in 2009). However his defense being so atrocious cancels all of that out making him a replacement level player.
  3. And Betancourt could trip over his own feet every play and some would still defend him to be contrary for the sake of being contrary.. He has no range and his release is slow. He has a strong accurate arm and that is about it.
  4. Hardy has amazing range so you're entire premise is wrong
  5. Anytime one game where a player goes 0-4 with 3 Ks will significantly change things the sample is too small
  6. A standard DHer? I thought those were illegal now or something
  7. But Kotsay would go without starting for 3 days! Think of how that will cool off his bat!
  8. Betancourt doesn't have the ability to put up those numbers. Betancourt might be able to match the numbers Hardy put up that got him demoted. In the year Hardy sucked so bad his wOBA was .292. Betancourt for his career is .296
  9. Marcum will likely cost more to extend. If he has two good years significantly more. You talk about Wolf not showing anything, but Marcum has had only 1 good year as well.
  10. $10m a year in MLB makes you a #3. How long does Milwaukee have to keep paying a top half payroll until we stop pretending their the royals?
  11. There needs to be a 40 man spot opened for DiFelice
  12. Mitre isn't going anywhere. Parra isn't a long MR guy.
  13. Now in baseball you can't really empty your bench. But say your starting shortstop gets hit in the jaw with a ball down 5 runs you could take him out.
  14. It may mean that the spread is much healthier, which is good. But given the remaining per diem of what, $10 after they pay for the spread?, not much can be gotten especially on the road. Hopefully they contact host families so at least at home they have a decent shot.
  15. Did they wait for the three run home run? No, they waited for three 2 run home runs. Completely different concept.
  16. While the discussion has focused on whether Lucroy coming back causes Nieves or Kottaras to be released or if they punt that decision until Hart returns by letting Reed go, more interesting to me is the bullpen decision. Assuming that there isn't an injury going forward and Saito is good to go I think it comes down to 2 of Green, Braddock and Stetter. Green is just a guy but he is out of options. Braddock has the most talent but his lack of velocity so far is slightly concerning and has 3 options remaining. Stetter is a LOOGY and so is more a luxury and has an option remaining but its nice to have 2 LHers in the pen. If I were to guess now I'd say Parra replaces Braddock and Hawkins will cause Green to be released. If that happens the 40 man may soon be down to 37 players.
  17. I can only think that Kottaras never picked up the ball out of Wood's hand McGehee hopefully seeing the ball better now
  18. Reed has had 1375 MLB PAs. His career line is .252/.309/.354. He just isn't good. But he is a Spring Training Warrior. His last 3 spring trainings his OPS has been 1.087, .953 and .944.
  19. It should be one of the catchers to go when Lucroy returns... Why? At least the catchers have a purpose if Roenike will PH for them late. Reed is behind Kotsay, Morgan and Almonte.
  20. Did Ramierez insult Bill's son or something? He's been on him all series.
  21. Mitre wasn't DS'd in? This is the easy part of managing.
  22. Fielder had 5 balls before the 1st strike was thrown, yet the count was 3-2. Amazing umpiring there.
  23. Anyone want to explain why you have your left handers batting back to back?
