  1. Attanasio also said they were going to lose money last year up until they revealed they made another 7 figure profit. The Brewers have been very profitable as a baseball team.
  2. http://www.baseball-reference.com/players/g/greerru01.shtml Oh and one of those baseball cards certain kids always looked for:http://www.baseball-reference.com/players/k/kuntzru01.shtml
  3. But there was still no power.
  4. It isn't a couple of years, its 4 which is basically a generation in terms of prospects.
  5. Where is the idea that Gerut has one more year of arby left coming from? Cot's has him at 5.096 years of service time to start the year. I'm not saying that isn't true he isn't at 6 years yet just that I would like to see his true service time and it would Gerut's 5th arby year to boot.
  6. It needs to be constantly mentioned that Gallardo was Melvin going against Jack's opinion
  7. Hmm, a LOOGY can't get out RHers. He still has a 14.06 K/9 vs LHers.
  8. But that platoon would cost around $5-6m so we are not talking about a huge savings here,
  9. Cain will be in CF and one other needs to be at 1B/3B and Lawrie is still one good year away assuming he doesn't stagnate for even a few months
  10. Estrada is Brewers property next year though he's likely getting released.
  11. DeJesus has a club option which KC will most likely pick up and then likely trade him. Cuddyear is 3 years older and last years power seems to be a one year thing
  12. No they're not. Werth is a much more patient hitter, a BB% of 13.1% vs Hart's 7.7%. Werth is also 3 years older.
  13. Take a look at potential OF FAs in 2011 &2012. Its not deep. You either get a guy from the top (Crawford or Werth this offseason) or you end up trading for someone which means giving up talent.
  14. Not sure what you are asking here. If th player was already on the 40 man before Sept 1 one option was already used (assuming he wasn't just sent down before Sept 1). If he's added to the 40 man after Sept 1 no option would be used but if he isn't on the 25 mean the next season that would cost an option.
  15. Yeah I thought he did but if he had a different agent we might have an idea where Rickie would go with next.
  16. Hall was a very good defensive infielder. He still is (would be much more useful than Counsell).
  17. I know that obviously Melvin should be fired for giving him a long term contract and not trading him when he was at peak value... But aside from that, what can be done? Do you send him to get a full work up? Do you sit him? Do you continue to hope and pray his power returns?
  18. Anyone know if his brother had the same agent of does he have a different one?
  19. Giving that no team has been shelling out much money in deadline deals, a Fielder trade could even still happen
  20. The Brewers will have more money than they could likely spend next year, so this has no bearing on being able to afford Fielder.
  21. Really, really surprised that its only 3 years. This emans that Hart isn't goign to eb able to get a big money deal that carries him to his mid 30s. I winder if there isn't a 4th year option that vests with palying time. $8m per is also really cheap, I wonder if Haudricort knows something because how its written it could be just him guessing. I'd think 3yrs/$30m would be more in line but we'll see.
  22. everyday that passes is just one less day you have them under contract. in theory their value decreases by the day as well, so in that sense yes they needed to trade them. the only exceptions will be if melvin works a better deal for those players in the offseason or if they keep hart (unlikely fielder) long term and he continues to provide production at his current rate. Except in the offseason the number of buyers goes from 8 to 20. The only 1B traded was Berkman and the Astros paid for New York to take part of his contract.
