  1. $40 ahead for fans is way too high. Its closer to $20. Forces has teh Brewers with $62m at teh gate. (While Forbes valuations tend to be crap since they fluctuate so much depending on a given year their component numbers tend to be good).
  2. But he's not a guy you walk no matter what because he isn't selective and has shown little in game power.
  3. Which is what they are basically paying to three players this year (Suppan $14.5m, Wolf $9.25m and Fielder $10.5m)
  4. It could easily be the unveiling of the Selig statue design as a contract extension (and I'd say the most likely contract extension would actually be Coffey at this point in time)
  5. The idea that Suppan will suddenly have trade value after 3-4 starts is foolish. Let's assume you're a GM who has been in a coma for the last 24 months and that you have stats sites blocked by your IP, even then the fact that the Brewers who are trying to compete for a playoff spot are offering up this "solid" pitcher for trade should be a sign he stinks.
  6. I don't want Escobar near Weeks because of GIDP. And no Gomez won't see more fastballs in front of Braun and Fielder. If he swings at junk they'll throw him junk.
  7. Your same argument could easily be applied to say batting average and there fore batting average is useless. Of course it would be just as wrong in that case as well. The differences in a given situation are far less than the similarities.
  8. The better the hitters coming up the less you want to sacrifice
  9. I don't get why you build a team to do your best to win 90 games and then make a decision that can only hurt you. If the Brewers are planning on 75 wins, sure let him pitch hope he revives somehow and brings you at least salary relief in July. But then you don't spend $30m on veteran pitchers in the offseason.
  10. You know how you manufacture runs? By not makng outs. Bunting when up 2-0 with a man on second is losing play.
  11. Except Suppan being out of the rotation has nothing to do with spring training and everything as to how he's pitched for the past 2 seasons.
  12. Well Kottaras is there today making balancing the lineup more difficult if you refuse to ph for anyone and are wedded to Gomez as #2. Still in general you want them to bring in a LOOGY to face Edmonds/Kotteras so you can counter it, not Fielder/Edmonds when you can't.
  13. He has to with all the speed or there would be a riot and people calling for his head lol Top to bottom this has to be pretty close to the fast team in the NL. Beside for Prince, McGehee, and Zaun (I think Kotteras has good speed for a catcher, but not 100% sure) Everyone else can run. Man Rickie has really turned into a lead off hitter up there. He isn't the free swinger that he use to be. At times (with 2 strikes) he can be a little too patient but he has really improved over the years, his defense is really coming around also Weeks was never a free swinger at any level of baseball
  14. This is a bad matchup for Hart, lets see how he does EDIT:Great job by Hart
  15. So all the Brewers need to do to control Helton is to have Stetter pitch to him every time
  16. That was Escobar who screwed up by not clearing the bag and throwing over the top of it. Escobar took an easy feed and screwed it up by not getting in the right place and then almost jump throwing the ball into the stands.
  17. Escobar never seems to get to the far side of 2B when he gets the ball. He seems to want to go straight to 1B over the bag
  18. The difference between Gomez and Escobar is most likely is that Escobar is such a GB machine (over 50% in Nashville). So you want him away from having GIDP opportunities which is why he's a great #9 hitter since he'll seldom have a guy on 1B ahead of him.
  19. Tapped out to third, but got a reasonable cheer from the home crowd when he was introduced. I'm not convinced he would've gotten that cheer if he started yesterday, but it's a much smaller (and kinder) crowd tonight.ie less intoxicated
  20. Are you watching the digital feed? I'm stuck on the non digital feed right now and everything is incredibly blurry.
  21. Somehow Rock and Brian still ignore that all that small ball in the first inning was meaningless
