    Loney hasn't been as good as Overbay the last two years. Now Overbay is 33 while Loney is 25 so over 2011-2013 I'd guess Loney has a better chance outperform Overbay but that still just provides average at best production and the Brewers can get that in house. Loney is a guy you take back as a throw in not any type of major piece.

    Escobar hits over 50% GBs. You hit that many GBs you hit into DPs. A 700OPS player is a bad hitter

    Because Escobar isn't a good hitter either and he'll hit into many DPs behind Weeks. The best would be Gomez 7th, Pitcher 8th, Escobar 9th. You can take advantage of their speed, the pitchers would have easier bunts and Escobar's singles can drive in Gomez from 2B given his speed.

    Bill, Cliff Lee is incredibly cheap the Phillies could easily have afforded him. They are just badly run right now.

    Compared to internal options McGehee is basically right in line if his numbers don't collapse (which they may). but if they collapse his bad defense doesn't make him good at 3B either. Its really who can play 3B best.

    And the Brewers making panic moves 2 weeks into the season is much more worrisome than what Zaun is doing.

    Why would Kottaras move down? A .188/.318/.438 line is very good for a guy with a BABIP of .143.

    I don't see teams going more than 5 years. The cubs don't match up in timeline because there is no way the Brwers will trade Fielder to the Cubs and they need a 1B after this season and so Lee will likely be back on 2-3 year deal. Ike Davis needs to fail for the Mets to be interested. The Red Sox won't want Fielder at 1B over Youkilis and Dunn or Berkman are better values at DH. The Dodgers make the most sense but theri ownership makes everything up in the air. The Nationals could try making a splash.

    Until Butler is back and pitching Suppan won't be going anywhere.

    The Yankees don't make such huge amounts due them working harder, they make it because the MLB has given them terratorial and broadcast rights to New York while limiting competition in the area. And the rules are not handed down by god, they are written by men and can be changed by men.

    If Fielder was traded to LA taking Loney back as a fill in isn't terrible but he looks to never have adjusted after his good 3/4 of a season. But he definitely is not a big part of anything and it would be more to free up some roster space for LA then anything else.

    Actually the double standard has been that Davis was told that he might be yanked despite actually having pitched well the last two seasons while we are just getting around to having discussions about Suppan's role.

    Fix revenue sharing by having MLB take over all local broadcast rights and a salary cap becomes meaningless.
