  1. Suppan only gave up 1 HR this time, he's obviously getting his regular season grove back.
  2. There are rules. Gamel would file a complaint and the Brewers would end up reinstating him. If this lingers the Brewers could get another option year for Gamel.
  3. baseball-reference.com, minorleaguesplits.com, hardballtimes.com, baseballprojection.com
  4. How did he screw himself in his first call-up? By telling Macha not to start him? What an idiot that guy is. On last night's broadcast Schroeder was talking about how Gamel was always hurt and had a real chance to make the team this spring in a back up role. There is something in the air be it just the press box or if its coming from off the record talks.
  5. This doesn't have to do with pay, though that will fall off too. It deals with service time. Because he got injured before being optioned his entire time spent on the DL accrues major league service time which affects his arbitration and free agency dates.
  6. Doug will never do that, he traded a fan favorite for Gomez. No way he's going to admit that was a horrible deal and send Gomez down. I don't think its a horrible deal I just think there's no reason to have Gomez in Milwaukee. My guess is no one who cares that much that Hardy's gone would really notice if Gomez is on the team or not.
  7. This makes no sense unless Dukes did something to really upset the Nats front office, be it professionaly or personally, something that caused the Nats to dump him without even trying to get something back for a guy making next to nothing.
  8. No its worse. It costs more and Hall could at least play good defense along the infield. Suppan is owed $14m, no one taking him for more than $1m for the season.
  9. Gerut is signed and can play CF. Dukes could have an arrest warrant pending.
  10. Escobar is the perfect #9 hitter, no reason to change that now. If he shows legit power then move him up. And Gerut can hit 2nd after they do the smart thing and option down Gomez.
  11. He probably would, but if he can get with a team by opening day he might be able to make up the difference with a FA contract a year earlier. Just hard to say, it would obviously be a risk for him. Thast said I just don't see the Brewers going with 4 LHP in the rotation.
  12. Suppan hasn't seen the minor leagues in 12 years. I think he'd rather sit at home on the couch, play with the kids, run his restaurant and wait for another big league opportunity than stay in Holiday Inns and ride buses. Bush is more likely to accept a minor league assignment because he has more money to lose. If the Brewers can trade Suppan and eat most of his salary, that would be neat. Hard to say Bush taking a minor league assignment means his FA is pushed off a full year. He's right at 5 years service time so a month in the minors would lose him a full year.
  13. Howard makes more than Pujols. Pujols is set to make $16m next season, Howard $20m. Howard has no surplus value., Pujols has about $25m worth of surplus value. The big issue is that from what's been sort of implied is that Pujols thinks he already gave St Louis a home town discount on his last contract and wants to get paid in this one.
  14. This looks to be a lot more about St Louis/Philly saying they'll be willing to move on without Pujols/Howard as their contracts start to get worked on than anything else. Pujols is worth so much more than Howard I just don't understand how it could ever work. Howard's WAR for the past 3 years: 4.3, 3.4, 4.8. Pujols' WAR for the past 3 years: 7.8, 9.0, 8.5. Yep Pujols is twice the player Howard is.
  15. Maybe, they really started cracking down a few years ago because some stations would give out basically a full card with every fill up. If you know the people its possible.
  16. Kotteras is younger and so has more upside and he could be with the Brewers for the next 6 years.
  17. The Bucks are chasing Atlanta, the Celtics look to be locked in the #3 or 4 seed. So even though the Celtics look to be about to collapse that won't help the Bucks.
  18. He's hardly pitched any relief innings. That said his ERA as a starter 5.23 and as a reliever 4.44. Or basically what you'd expect when a starter goes to relieve.
  19. That's not what it says, TH talked to Melvin and Melvin said there is nothing to report, ie nothing official yet.
  20. The same player says ARod is so good because he works so hard. ARod of course is known to go to all night poker games (among other places).
  21. But you're question was is he the 12th best pitcher and that answer is no. Suppan, Parra, Bush, Villaneuva and Narveson are all better at this point. Lofgren is a left handed Tim Dillard.
  22. Lofgren isn't one of the 12 best pitchers, he's a second LOOGY at this point. I think people are way overestimating what a Rule 5 pick really is. Almost all end up being returned.
  23. Parra's FIP last season was 4.88, Suppan's was 5.70. Add in age and actual stuff and that's why people are higher on Parra than Suppan.
  24. Lofgren is not Parra. Parra dominated the minor leagues, Lofgren had one good season in high A 4 years ago. The biggest difference is Parra has shown the ability to keep is k rate up as he progressed up the levels and limit his walks.
