  1. Boras got ARod a 20% raise, not sure how he screwed that up.
  2. Suppan stunk all the year save August. The fact his ERA was ok before his "injury" just hides the fact he gave up a buttload of unearned runs.
  3. Yes because the owners have never, ever colluded.
  4. As much as I appreciate CC's efforts here in 2008, I think he has a point. I don't remember if I mentioned it on the forum or in face to face conversation with people, but I fully imagined parts of the Brewers' fanbase being noticeably disappointed (if not outright booing) if CC could "only" average, say, 5-6 innings per start in 2009. I'm not sure I would have talked about that reason with the media if I were he, but apart from being at Miller Park on the same day a bunch of times last season, CC and I don't have a lot in common. Yep who knows maybe Sabathia saw how Brewer fans treated Sheets. Maybe he saw how the Brewer fans would boo anyone at any time. If he got injured he would have been the most hated man in Milwaukee sports. Him not playing would be the lead stiry for weeks. Pavano not playing for the Yankees stopped being a story after a week 4 years ago. That said he wanted to be the highest paid pitcher which is why he didn't resign with Cleveland to begin with.
  5. Look at Turnbow. So many pitches were out of the zone that the bases were never empty
  6. But the Nats have all of Nova. Now I agree Bowden doesn't help but there is no way with the money thats in DC that the Nats should have fielded such a poor team like last year.
  7. If you limit it to position players, Hardy or Braun are pretty well tied otherwise its Sabathia followed closely by Sheets.
  8. The only person who should be anxious about these signings is Brad Nelson
  9. Anaheim was at 8/$160 weren't they? And the Nationals are rolling in money. DC isn't a small market, baseball just likes to call teams that are tightwads "small market" hence huge cities like Minneapolis-St Paul and Miami get called small market.
  10. Weeks is a half win to a win better defensively and offensively they're close.
  11. Stupid Sheets! If he would have just taken off 6 weeks in August to Septmember and come back for a few games he'd be set! But nooooo! He had to try and gut it out...
  12. Melvin thinks the Brewers' trainers have it too easy and so is bringing in Jim Edmonds

  16. Weeks is better than Johnson at 2B, it would mainly be to move Johnson to RF and increase the teams OBP and give them a LH bat.
  17. Lucroy could likely play in Milwaukee this year so I don't see much happening
  18. I think people are getting confused between Salome and Lawrie in this thread.
  19. Oh god that's like throwing up the Clancy signal. Next we'll have questions about what Wayne Franklin is doing now...
  20. He was looking for a 3-4 year deal at $16 m per and preferred to go to Boston.
  21. Kotsay's UZR/150 was -15.7 in 2008 Cameron's UZR/150 was 13.3 in 2008 Yep, Cameron's defense alone makes him worth $10m more than Kotsay not even including him being a better offensive player.
  22. So Pie released yet?
  23. It wasn't arbitration, it was an option that they had to buyout. It would have been $6m more to keep Penny if just to trade him. Which means the Dodgers were afraid they couldn't get $6m of value out of Penny either because he won't pitch enough for them of he wouldn't pass a physical for a trade.
  24. Last I heard he couldn't even pitch until June
  25. Mota's WPA was -0.49. Pretty sure the Mets aren't upset about jettisoning a pitcher who harmed his team and cost $3.5 m. Yes Igawa has value, but its gamble at $12m on 29 year old who couls easily be passed his prime due to abuse by Japanese managers.
