  1. Yeah he was safe, but a throw that beats a player that badly will get the out 90% of the time. At worst you could have gotten Sheets to the plate this inning.
  2. Well they need him past this year. I know people like to pretend that the Brewers are suddenly going to find another arm thats #1 caliber for $5 m a year, but it isn't going to happen. You have Bush at $5 m or next years Suppan at $11 m for four years. Again, I doubt he can get optioned down because my guess is as soon as the Brewers try, Bush files a complaint and gets placed on the DL.
  3. Right, he's 25 now meaning he was 24 last year when he provided above average production at 2B. Yes he's not Utley but then no one else is either.
  4. Seriosuly, in no sense is Weeks a bust. Krynzel, ok, Weeks no. Not aure how an average start at age 24 is a bust, but hey he doesn't play like an All Star , he must suck.
  5. No his range is great. His accuracy stinks
  6. If you saw Figueroa's strike zone it wasn't hard to see why he was so successful.
  7. More winning commentary from Bill: "Reyes doesn't hit .300 because too many pop ups, too many strike outs" You know, not enough hits...
  8. Hart was likely playing deep to keep the run on 1B from scoring on a hard hit ball given the pitcher coming up
  9. Well Rock says balls in the opposite batter's box are too close to take with 2 strikes!
  10. From FJM we learn that the Sox still think they did good in the Carlos Lee trade. Williams signed Pierzynski, traded away selfish, all-or-nothing hitters such as Carlos Lee Suntimes
  11. I keep forgetting to add this. My two basic rubs: Sweet: 2 C Brown Sugar 1 T Paprika 2 T Chili Powder 2 T Seasoned Salt 1 T Garlic Salt 2 T Lemon Pepper Spicy: 1/4 C Paprika 1 T Brown Sugar 2 t Cayenne Pepper 2 t Cinnamon 2 t Mustard Powder 1 t Garlic Powder 1 t Onion Powder 1 t Salt Now the Spicy isn't really hot, more pungent. Think the background spice on really good fried chicken. To up the heat on either just add in cayenne pepper. Keep in mind that brown sugar and paprika will burn easily so only for indirect grilling. I use the first one often for baby back ribs and both on chicken.
  12. Yes if he hits like 2003 or 2004 it'd be great. But 2000-2002 and 2005-2007 it wouldn't. And we still have to deal with the fact he's a huge DP candidate. Cameron will likely have a .340-350 OBP but with power in the 450 range. 60 points of SLG outweighs 10-20 points of OBP.
  13. So Yost shouldn't be smart because he might get criticized anyway? It wasn't just a hit, it was a home run. Followed by a double. For three hits in a row with Villanueva missing high.
  14. Kendall in 2006: .295/.367/.342 2005: .271/.345/.321 Still seems a really good choice for 9th
  15. Villaneuva was entering the inning at 78 pitches. Pitchers start to falter at 80 usually. You have to be aware and getting players ready.
  16. Bush came to face Dunn when he was already at 90 pitches with Shouse already warm. Villaneuva entered the 7th at 78 pitches.
  17. Patterson made the statement he always makes, he'll hit for power occasionally and then follow that up with a bunch of weak grounders to 2B. As for teh OF, Cincy's defense stinks on high
  18. Well since actually your 4th best hitter should hit 3rd the lineup was screwed from the start.
  19. How? Brooks was a mop up guy who could hit and give you innings. McClung can't do either.
  20. Usually you can exchange rained out game tickets for any future game (of similar value)
  21. Its amazing how many of you have bought into the meat-manhood myth.
  22. Hart is much more of a CFer than Irrabarren.
  23. I really expect Bush to go on the DL when Yovani comes back. People act like the last two starts are how Bush normally pitches. They are far from it. It usually has great control and has higher velocity. His curve ball is usually in the low 70s, not the mid 60s, his fastball between 88 and 92 not topping out at 87. And its isn't Bush's fault that in two games with two golden opportunities Yost has yet to get Shouse to face Adam Dunn even though the game was on the line both times.
  24. The ball was too far over the fence to catch--Gross got it at the tip but when his wrist hit the wall it came out
  25. Yost already wrote Riske in for at least two innings
