  1. A bet on how many times tonight Bill mentions that Zimmerman needs a good hitter behind him in the lineup ignoring that Church is the Nationals best hitter and is hitting behind Zimmerman? I'm going 3.
  2. When your carry a career OPS of 737, you're a bad outfielder.
  3. Look at that list. It ranges from very good (Ensberg) to not good at all (Brown). Which means if the Angles really are looking they aren't going to be offering anything of value and are hoping to get a salary dump. So no on Mench being a trade posability.
  4. Prince was running. At that point Hardy might as well break for home since Prince was dead. Now why Prince is running against a LHP, well thats something else.
  5. I hate the contact play.
  6. Mench cannot hit RHP. You have two LH outfileders on your bench. You are down 2 runs with one out. Both of those guys get on base at near a .400 clip aginst RHP.
  7. The Graffy play was a called hit and run. Its all Yost.
  8. No it isn't. If the Brewers play .500 ball for the rest of the season, they are at 90 wins. For Houston and St Louis to match that they have to win at a 58% clip going forward. There is nothing to suggest they have that type of talent. Yes they could get lucky. Or the Brewers could stumble greatly. But the future isn't good for either team, especially when Clemens decides to go to Boston.
  9. People really don't seem to understand that. The RS-RA formula is used because it tends to give you a better idea of a teams talent that their record does. Meaning that Brewers are more likely to have a 58% winning percentage versus a 66% winning percentage GOING FORWARD. What has happened has happened. And its why Houston and St Louis are likely already done for the year.
  10. WARP incorporates FRAA (actually FRAR), you're think of VORP. Its a run measure based on something similar to Utimate Zone Rating from whet I can tell. Basically calculates what balls the average player gets to versus the given player. It bounces around a lot year to year so its overall value is somewhat suspect.
  11. The Indians could fall out of the race easily. A sizemore run intot eh wall could do that. But Sabthia won't likely come for Gwynn and Jackson. You're likely looking at at least one A level prospect plus.
  12. Guys, this seems to be from a Red Sox "source". Meaning it could be true, or you know it could be the normal romour that involves the Red Sox.
  13. Sheets is hitting mid to high 90s today
  14. To underscore what Russ says. Assume the Cubs are really, really bad for whatever reason and only have a 30% chance of winning a one run game (keeping in mind a team winning 30% of their games overall is historically bad). Given 6 one run games in April lets project 30 more over the course of the season (a few on either side won't change much). The probability to go 0-30 then would be (.7)^30 or 0.00002.
  15. Jenkins has an option. Mench has another year of arbitration as far as I can tell. So neither is FA until the Brewers decide they are.
  16. No saying he was bad is describing what happened. Pretending that 10 baserunners in 5 innings is decent is wrong
  17. I assumed he wanted to leave him in so Shouse could get the PHitter. But apparently not.
  18. Have no idea what is going on here. Why no Shouse?
  19. Luke Scott: Welcome back to Earth!
  20. Actually the walk keeps Counsell from being DS'ed out.
  21. Well, that was fun. Hope Vargas enjoys the rest of his day as he's done.
  22. You know he's likely got the 5th to try for the W
  23. Actually the more days off is likely less beneficial. It screws up throwing patterns. And Vargas had a FIP of 4.90 last season, so no he isn't a sub 4.5 guy by any streech
