  1. Hardy should get a 3 year deal worth about $45 million with a 4th year option. If he is coming to Milwaukee (highly unlikely) it would be to replace Segura.
  2. Just wanted to note that if you talk to unemployment you may be able to get unemployment while in the academy.
  3. Check out Segura's swing% heat map. He's swinging at almost everything inside and high compared to last year. http://www.fangraphs.com/zonegrid.aspx?playerid=5933&position=SS&ss=2014&se=2014&type=2&hand=all&count=all&blur=1&grid=10&view=bat Rollins would be so much better than Segura right now
  4. So where is the Dodgers board complaining about how they can never beat AAAA scrubs?
  5. He's the anti Wooten. Wooten's rate stats are terrific but his ERA is getting killed by a .370 BABIP. Kintzler hasn't been good all year and is likely injured (losing 1.75 K/9 says something is wrong) but a really high strand rate has saved his ERA.
  6. It would take a real prospect to get Rollins. He is projected to be wroth 2 to 3 wins next year which has a value of around $15-20m and he is only getting paid $11m. Rollins would be the biggest impact player the Brewers could get but he isn't going to come for scraps. And that's before you decide about what to do with Segura.
  7. If McCutchen does go on the DL, maybe Bud will finally do something.
  8. Trying to figure out why the Dakotas hate the Vikings. Is it because the Vikings claim the states as a market and so good NFL games get blacked out?
  9. Except baseball GMs do not get fired.
  10. Because Colorado is pretending this year was derailed due to injuries alone. So they are planning on bringing everyone back next year.
  11. Ok, so tomorrow, we're up 10 - 1, and you bring in Kintzler, who drills Holliday. What have you proven? I want to know what tangible point have we proven? That we'll play tit for tat? You know how this goes. You KNOW that this will NOT result in the Cardinals ceasing to hit batters or pitch inside, so I'm asking, not sarcastically, what tangible benefit the scenario you're laying out will provide. Here's what would happen: 1. Kinztler gets ejected and get's a three game suspension. 2. The Cardinals throw at Gomez during the game Sunday, the benches clear and Gomez gets a 5 suspension for charging the mound. EDIT: Oh yeah, the Brewers close the gap on the DBacks for manliness points!
  12. Hey, if we get KRod to 50 saves maybe he gets QO and we get a draft pick before when he signs with another team and (then we trade for him again next June!)
  13. Thanks for not putting that in blue, we need to keep reminding posters of this fact. Currently 6th in MLB per fangraphs. Compared to other teams we make less mistakes and take more extra bases. I love and have faith in advanced stats but I refuse to believe this. Thing is, Gomez and Segura, and to a lesser extent, Weeks and Overbay are good. Davis, Ramirez, Braun, and basically the rest of the replaceable bench are bad.
  14. Adam Dunn would likely clear waivers. Whether his defense and base running make him an upgrade is a question. DeJesus might clear waivers after he domes back from injury.
  15. Yes he has. That said: 1) This topic should be moved 2). The Brewers would likely need to trade at least Nelson to get him. Gordon is going to be like a 6 win player this year. He's only owed $12.5 million next year meaning he has like $20 million in excess value.
  16. How long has Brian been in Wisconsin and not know of the Hodag?
  17. No, he pretty much is. His FIP this year is 2.87. Starting pitching age curves don't in general look like position player age curves. Pitchers pitch fine until they stop, usually due to injury or a build up of injuries.
  18. Splits: Braun had all of 17 3-0 counts this year. 2 were IBB so that means it was really 15. Of those 15, 12 ended in walks, 1 in a single and 2 in strike outs.
  19. Well the Indians are only a half game out of the 2nd Wild Card and are 5.5 behind Detroit
  20. He has 5 HR's this year. How big of an impact is that 4.9 pct difference going to have on his .833 OPS? Doesn't look like much of his power is coming from HR's. It's not like his BABIP is out of line. It's actually lower this year(by an insignificant amount) than over his career. I think sometimes we look a little too hard. He'd be a 4th OF'er and a LH'ed bat and likely wouldn't cost much. Seems like he checks a lot of boxes we could use. Because his ISO this year is .201 when for his career its .128 means soemthing is driving this. And much has to do with him killing LH pitching (OPS of 1.139). That will not be liekyl to continue as he gets more the 30 ABs against them. His .750 OPS vs RHers is in line with his career and really what one should expect. He'd be decent but his defense is really bad.
  21. Coglhan's current HR/FB rate: 11.9%. For his career: 7.0%. His power is unlikely to continue. Going forward you should a expect a slightly below average bat. And he really can't play defense anywhere. He would be an upgrade over Schafer, but most would be.
  22. I'm not sure what projections you're using, but the couple I've heard I disagree with pretty strongly. You stated about 3 weeks ago Estrada projected better than Nelson this year in the big leagues, and now Zarraga is a 1.8 catcher? Then there is also the fact that the Rockies have a 25 year old catcher who's put up big numbers the last two seasons .282/.314/.507 with a OPS of .820 and hit 28 and 21 HR's at ages 23 and 24. Given that the Rockies aren't competitive this year, I'm guessing they'd rather stick with the guy with big upside over the guy the same age who's minor league numbers are worse than Rosario's MAJOR league numbers (career .792 OPS for the 25 year old Rosario, .767 career minor league OPS for the 25 year old Zarraga who's played 4 games above AA ). Don't get me wrong, I like Zarraga, and he might be finally realizing his potential, but he's yet to play more than 74 games in a single season, and when you're talking about how bad another team is at a certain position, yet you're suggesting that a guy who's minor league numbers are worse than their current starters major league numbers, I think you're overvaluing him. The Rockies have their catcher of the future and they'll give him more than 60 games in which he hasn't even been that bad to right the ship. They need pitchers who can get ground balls. I think aside from the obvious young arms like Peralta and Nelson, Jungman is a better fit in Colorado than Zarraga. http://www.fangraphs.com/blogs/the-top-10-prospects-currently-by-projected-war-2/ The point isn't Zarraga is a top flight prospect, the point is he is a solid prospect at this point and is blocked in Milwaukee. Holding onto him for a back up is not maximizing his return. He's teh kind of guy who can easily land a spare part to upgrade the Brewers and could be in Colorado right now. The Rays would probably value him much more highly given they know Milwaukee teaches receiving better than anyone else, but finding a match there is difficult unless they take him as a main piece for Zorbrist which I doubt (and Zobrist's market would have to collapse).
  23. Yes, don't pick up Gallardo's option and Tulo fits in fine. The idea that most teams would have huge issues is just not right.
  24. I don't what people are talking about with Tulo being expensive. He's signed for a long time for a decent amount of money but if he was a FA he would be looking at a Cano type deal. He has 6 years remaining at $20m each. (His last non option year could go up). That is a saving of $4m per year over Cano before you take into account its 6 years and not 10. The vast majority of teams could afford that contract.
  25. The Brewers most tradable chip is Zarraga. He's blocked in Milwaukee, is already 25 and realistically only a catcher. He projects as a 1.8 win player right now, and given that Colorado's catchers are terrible he makes sense.
