  1. The Brewer have Aoki until he's 36 already. Foreign players still need to accrue service time to be free agents.
  2. Kottaras has almost no value and likely can't pass a trade physical.
  3. The pick and the added money that brings to go over on their early 1st round pick. Since compensation picks are not protected, that pick has to be a signability one anyway.
  4. People would kill Melvin for giving up Olt for 6 months of a pitcher but think Texas should give up Olt plus for a pitcher they really don't need to get to the playoffs in the first place.
  5. Axford has a WPA of -2.09. It been bad
  6. No it isn't. He is no longer the closer so in Reoicke's mind he can throw multiple innings now. Macha often would use him for more than an inning depending on match ups.
  7. Yep. My guess is the latest Fielder for Cain story probably also included Ordozzi or Escobar. And a Fielder for Cain straight swap doesn't do much anyway since Cain was only under control for one more year than Fielder.
  8. New rules severely limit what teams can spend on international signings EDIT:Also the Chapman deal is terrible as long as he stays relieving (which maybe all he can do?)
  9. Hamilton is the only free agent position player of any note. Unless you want to take an expensive flyer on Melky, there isn't anything out there a team would covet. So I see no way he ends up in Milwaukee.
  10. And I think Aoki's arm has been exposed. Though I have no clue how McGehee's ball got through
  11. If people think Ramirez's contract is bad, they better never look at that second extension Braun signed...
  12. Until you decide to punt 2013, which won't happen until you are sure you can't bring in a top flight pitcher, you don't trade them.
  13. Hart has little value at 1B. His value is in RF. No reason to keep him to have him play 1B.
  14. Selling high on Green would have been 4 years ago. He's 25, had a major injury, and most peg him as a utility infielder.
  15. There are two things going on here. One players who sign a FA contract can't be traded until after June 1st (I believe), Basically it keeps them from getting the Arroyo screw job if they have enough service time. The second (I think its still in the CBA), if a player signs a multiyear FA contract and is traded in the middle of it he can demand trade the following off season. So if Ramirez is traded this year, he can demand the receiving team trade him by the following (2013) offseason or he becomes a free agent.
  16. Expand the voting. Make it a fan vote if need be for a bit.
  17. Yep. He could end up walking 100 times while hitting under .220
  18. I think people are severely overestimating what $10m buys for a player these days. $10m is an average starter. Now Wolf hasn't been good but this mostly pertains to people think paying $10m to Weeks makes him super highly paid or that paying $10m for Hart isn't a great bargain.
  19. Don't blame the fans for this. Pitchers are chosen by players and managers. In general players are the ones who do a terrible job of voting.
  20. Well Greinke is a better pitcher. Truth is Greinke is likely to be underpaid on a win basis. He's on his way to 7 win season. He's not going to get $30m per year.
  21. Estrada is a lock and Fiers is a near lock.
  22. The new draft rules change things. Getting more 1st round picks means more money for the Brewers to go over slot on their 1st round pick.
  23. Much more "reliable sources" upthread just told me Greinke is a #3 pitcher and the Brewers should be happy to get salary relief
  24. Jim Caple baits Brewers fans into giving his articles a bunch of clicks and makes himself more money.
  25. The contact play was on again with the infield in. I don't even know....
