  1. Fielder is often among the leaders in WPA. So no, Fielder always tends to deliver the big hit.
  2. Yeah Melvin never does that. Well as long as you don't count Leskanic, Sexson, Young, Franklin, Kolb, Ginter, Overbay, Davis, Gross, and ,you know, Greinke.
  3. No you just have to be protected by the Yankee brass. Non one seems to know that Robinson Cano, the Yankee's best hitter, hit 0.75/0.98/.125 this post season. Or that Teixeria hit like ARod this season while playing 1B.
  4. Read about shady dealings the Pirates do with the baseball power brokers in the Dominican
  5. Rogers as the center piece for Shields? If Melvin pulls that off it would be amazing. Rogers is about to be 26 and has pitched over 130 innings once. And he did not pitch that well in AAA last year. And Morris? Until he starts to walk he projects more as a reserve, which at 1B doesn't have a huge amount of value. The Brewers have more money than tradeable talent, not sure why people can't see that.
  6. Here played in all but 13 games which was 8th for all of 3B in baseball. He may have not have been perfectly healthy but he played more games that your average MLB starter so I dont think I would say he didnt have a healthy season. What is a healthy season? Playing every game. Over the course of 162 games - I would assume missing 10-15 games is pretty normal which is right where Ramirez was at and he put up the 3rd best offensive numbers for any 3B. So Ramirez wasn't gimping around for a few weeks barely able to run? Sure he still played but he wasn't exactly healthy. By that metric there was no one on the Brewers healthy this season.
  7. So he's a 4th year arby player which means that 1st year FA can be in his comparison pool correct? And will the insane contracts that CFers Bourne and Hamitlon are certain to sign matter for this year's arby cases?
  8. Sanchez is an equal pitcher to Gallardo. Which means he's better than Estrada, Fiers, Peralta, et al. for 2013. And in two years it won't matter any way because Gallardo will be gone so there is your roster spot.
  9. Can he replace Bill Schroeder now? Please?
  10. Sanchez at $15m per year for 4 years is a steal.
  11. No they have not. Gallardo had a better 1st season than Sheets. After that Sheets had been significantly better. Why not compare the same number of innings? Because then you can't include Sheet's poor 2007?
  12. Escobar's UZR this year is -11.1 giving him a UZR/150 of 0.5 for his career. I'm not sure what Escobar's league actually is. His errors are up and his range is down. I wonder if he has the Starlin Castro disease of just not caring at times?
  13. I think they'll take their ABs seriously. I just expect their pitchers not to work deep, to see how deep their bench is and for Brandon Phillips to avoid diving for any balls .
  14. The Reds have now wrapped up the central. So are they going to play hard against the Brewers? 1)Giving their guys a rest now a week before the playoffs is the perfect time to do so. 2) It behooves them to have the Wild Card go to the very end. 3)While Milwaukee might have issues with the Cardinals, the Reds hate them with a fiery burning passion.
  15. Why is Torreabla pinch hitting? Sure hit doesn't hit for average, power or get on base, but he adds to that a complete lack of speed.
  16. Yes they are. Unless the contract states that the team will non-tender the player you need 6 years of time to become a UFA.
  17. Carpal Tunnel is not a freak thing. Its a repetitive stress injury. Yes genetics can play a role, but it nerve damage due to repetitive motions. You know, like pitching.
  18. Good to see Pittsburgh fans supporting their team in a playoff race....
  19. Who? Aoki. Schafer. Morgan will likely be cheap.
  20. The Brewers have more money that they do excess talent.
  21. I'm talking about AAA where he has struggled greatly with his command. And his control wasn't that good in AA in 2011. There are always encouraging reports about rehabbing players. Narveson was a 1-1.5 win player before the injury. Given his K rate he might have a future in relief, but to hope for more than that is wishful thinking right now.
  22. $10 m? That's way low. $10m is what an average start gets. Gomez has that special number, steals, that make certain baseball men fall in love. Boras can easy project him at 60 steals in a full season. The arby case this off season could be epic.
  23. How has Peralta earned a spot? By walking a ton of guys? Counting on Rogers to stay healthy for an entire season is a heartbreak waiting to happen. The FA pitching pool is really deep, the Brewers have a ton of money to spend, and they have no place else to spend it. I'd rather sign Greinke to $23m a year than 4 relievers to $6m a year contracts. There is no saving revenue for future use. If there was the Brewers would have a $150m payroll right now.
  24. A Bill Hall type contract would be great, but that won't happen. He could end up being a 30/40 (or 50) guy over a full season. His OBP will still be terrible making him less valuable but he'll be paid like a typical 30/40 guy, ie a lot. We'll see how much Bourn gets this offseason. That will likely be Boras's starting point assuming Gomez doesn't implode in 2013. I agree in trying to trade him.
  25. Why in the world would you want that to happen? What, trading Gomez? Because he is only under control for one more season, the chance he signs a multiyear extension with Boras as his agent is nil, the Brewers are covered in CF and the downside risk of keeping him is great.
